Original gangster video:
• Ariana Grande Carpool ...
ABOUT:
Rebecca is a passionate Singer-Songwriter/Vocal coach/mentor /impressionist/photographer/creative junkie /self- development lover not a hater.
“I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well, maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2016. However, despite not being able to walk for a few weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and try to practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…we are all specks of dust…Also, thank you for all your support. It means a lot. I have suffered from anxiety from the past and self-confidence, (yeah hard to see now right) didn’t think I was ‘good, or worthy enough’ but I feel I have a new lease of life, don’t really care as much and want to show you guys what I have! : ) You are all awesome and without you, there would be no channel.

    I'm not a "fan" of Ariana Grande's music (I'm well out of her target audience age range) but there is absolutely NO WAY anyone can hear that woman sing and not fall in love with her voice 🤷‍♀️ You may not buy her albums, like her personality or vibe with her songs but, if anyone tries to say she hasn't got a VOICE (and I mean a voice that is EVERYTHING) then they are lying their a$$ off 🙃

    Ariana's tessitura is almost identical to Sohyang's, only a half note difference IIRC. If Ariana keeps working on her support, she could potentially match Sohyang's legendary status. The singer Sohyang in her 20s wasn't the legendary vocalist Sohyang in her 30s because of Sohyang's relentless training. I would love to see a video analysis of Sohyang "vs" Ariana, age by age. I don't think I've seen one yet.

  • @greatmusicdilettante6405

    @greatmusicdilettante6405

    6 жыл бұрын

    Big Kahuna Subjectively, people are free to choose faves. Objectively, where everything else is taken out, and the review is purely based on vocal pedagogy, Sohyang is ahead of everyone you listed there. (I like Sohyang for both objective and subjective reasons, btw.) However, even Sohyang said singing isn't just about techniques, and she has proven to me, subjectively, she's capable of infusing pain, sorrow, even joy to the notes of her songs, and I don't even speak a lick of korean, and in some cases, couldn't even see her facial expression. I hope all of my comments didn't rub anyone the wrong way.

  • 6 жыл бұрын

    Great Music Dilettante objectively speaking, yes Sohyang would win above all these artists on technicalities and upper belts and she's at her prime. These versus comparisons are good to a point , but if you're going to compare age has to be a factor . Sohyang in her 20s couldn't hold a note and she wasn't up to par with those other artists. If you need objective proof , look at her Emotions cover by Mariah(It was pretty bad) , and there are more. She had a lot of vocal training over 2 decades so now she is a vocal beast . Her troubled waters cover is one of the best I've heard. I'm not bias or subjective to any of these artists but you have to be realistic. all 3 of these artists had little or no vocal training but are still amazing imagine them at Sohyangs age. That's why I did mention Regine they're about the same age and would be a more comparable and interesting duel.

  • @greatmusicdilettante6405

    @greatmusicdilettante6405

    6 жыл бұрын

    Big Kahuna First, let's remind ourselves singing isn't a competitive sport. As for the "versus" video of Ariana and Sohyang, as you can reread yourself, would be based on what they can do for *when they are in the same age group,* _"age by age"_ I wrote verbatim in my first post. It would be unfair to expect the current Ariana to match the current or 30s Sohyang who has a decade plus worth of training more than Ariana. A comprehensive "versus" comparison would have to wait a decade until Ariana is in her 30s. By then, we'll have 30s Ariana "vs" 30s Sohyang. We can't have 30s Ariana "vs" 50s Sohyang either, as Sohyang most likely wouldn't be in her prime anyone. People age. Barbra Streisand, for example, preserves much of her singing voice due to excellent techniques even today. However, even the most die hard stans of hers wouldn't say she's just like when she's at her prime. I also already differetiate, in my first post, 20s Sohyang and 30s Sohyang. Average "singer" turned virtuoso "vocalist". Her upper 5th and 6th were screamed and unsupported, which 90% of the population would still appreciate though, because she could still hit those high notes, the same way with other average artists who the general public consider great, despite how strained their high notes sound to the trained ears. Regine is good. But, I stand by the objective observation stated earlier that Sohyang is better. Subjectively, my only complaint is there aren't more high quality videos of Regine, or even more videos period. But, it is understandable since her time was pre smartphone era, and lower resolution video technology in general.

  • @greatmusicdilettante6405

    @greatmusicdilettante6405

    6 жыл бұрын

    No doubt Regine can still, as we call it, _sang._ Great projection and overall control. Pitch accuracy is never 100% during live performances for any artist. So, that's not an issue for me, as I expect that to happen. I can even say pitch imperfection is a plus as it let's us know they are singing live, not using playback or lipping. (Just to clarify, I have no problem with lip syncing or playback use whatsoever, unless it's done to intentionally duped the public, such as Milli Vanilli for the worst example.) I want to give a benefit of a doubt here and say some strained notes were due to fancam audio quality, and vice versa, some notes that sound supported may in actuality be unsupported. Her voice did noticeably crack 10 minutes in, but she recovered it quite nicely. It needs to be considered that the 10 minutes prior consist of many mix and chest belting, with few occasions of HV, but that's most likely due to the songs. Speaking of HV, to better gauge her passaggio or transition, it would be helpful to see her singing other songs that have the kind of arrangement with an ample dose of transitions. There weren't exemplary showcase of agility that I noticed. I do think that's because this particular moment wasn't the right time and place for it. If anything I feel Regine was graciously stepping aside to let the younger generation have their time to shine (some occasions they did, other times not so much). Mori is going places for sure. Jona has been on my radar too for a while. Full disclosure, I don't follow Regine's career closely enough to say how well or how bad or how unchanged the quality of her vocals now compared to before. Going by memory only, her timbre sounds a tiny bit darker compared to her younger days video. It's not a bad thing or a good thing. People age. That observation may not even be accurate, because it's only going by memory, and again, since I'm consciously aware of the audio quality of those older videos and the limitation of fancam videos. Thank you for the link. I watched it a couple more times, not for objective query, but for the way music is supposed to be enjoyed :) . I don't mind your persistence at all. It's normal for people to be passionate about the artists they enjoy or support. It speaks of the power of music in general, as well as a our very human desire to connect to another, via music in this case. I do appreciate Regine, which is why said my complaint was there aren't more good quality videos of hers around for me to watch. However, appreciate and enjoy still fall in the subjective category. I have to take subjectivity out of the equation to be objective. Sohyang looks so young (no pun intended :D ) in the performance with Charice, they both do. This about is a decade plus or so ago? I haven't looked into the date to be sure, but Sohyang was most likely in between her singer-into-vocalist transition period there. So, I don't expect virtuoso level singing, from both, in that performance. (A side note on Charice, once the transition into Jake is complete, and the hormones situation stabilizes, I'm curious to see the future vocal result. He may regain the vocal control he lost, or he may not and require new or different training. Time will tell.)

    I missed Carpool Karaoke! He had some great carpoolers in the past. Meanwhile Ariana is one beautiful singing swan. Beauty and talent, wow. And she's a great impersonator, seen her guestings doing impersonations. It's ironic, she got impersonated herself three times in YFSF Kids this season. James isn't bad himself (hey, he was INTO THE WOODS' The Butcher, right?) and he awesomely sang Suddenly Seymour from LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (Me luvs me some Broadway!). Anyway, my fave Ariana song is actually her and Mika's version of WICKED's Popular Song. Hey, do you watch the #OutofOz stuff?

    Haha I doubt that she was on Broadway at age 13 without ever having a vocal coach. Stop trying to sell a lie. She is still madly talented, bit definitely had coaches in the past in order to sustain a healthy way of singing.
