God, Travel is such an amazing song.

Anneke is so beautiful and such a talented singer. Her stage presence is captivating.

A little bit of info for you Beth. This was Anneke’s 2nd concert for that night. Her band had a 2hr gig earlier at another venue, she then came along & did 3hrs at this one. She’s gooood.

This is such a simple yet powerful and emotional song. It's great!

Anneke van Giersbergen has the voice of an angel. The Gathering is also one of my all-time favorite bands. I often call them the Dutch Radiohead because of how radically their sound/style evolved, starting from generic doom metal and moving into alt./prog rock and dream pop/shoegaze influences. How to Measure a Planet? and if_then_else are both among my favorite albums. If you wanted to just hear Anneke, I'd highly recommend You Learn About It. The highs she sings in the chorus never fail to make me cry.

Anneke is he best female singer in rock or metal , Devin too , this is whole concert , The retinal circus is awesome, it’s a musical !!

Anneke is a legend who influence Floor, Nightwish Sharon Den Adel, ect, do some of her other work in the Gathering, solo, or Perfect storm

Anneke is pure gold. Numbered with Devin is one of the songs that you should absolutely give a listen to. And she's such a sweet soul, always smiling, always gentle and lovely.

Numbered or Hyperdrive from the By a Thread performance would have been such a better representation of her vocals. I'm kind of upset that the Patreon person chose this song tbh.

The chemistry between Anneke and Devin is so good! May I also suggest something from Devin's concert in Plovdiv, production is top notch.

This was (to the day) my girlfriend and i's second anniversary together. She'd never heard of devin. We're looking at 8 years this year. Think i played that one right. Rotting christ and moonspell this year, slayer last. Found the one

Anneke is an amazing singer and a wonderful person. You can always tell from her smile how much she enjoys herself when singing, and watching others sing. Her and Devin are a match made in heaven.

For more Anneke you should definitely check out her old band - The Gathering performing Amity live from their anniversary show TG25. She really shows off in this one! :)

Glad you finally listen and discovered Anneke, she has such a powerful (and effortless) voice it's insane. And she's super nice too. You can watch the whole show from the "By a Thread shows" DTP did, she was on the whole Addicted! album. Search : DTP BY A THREAD ADDICTED It's the first one on the list and do yourself a favor. She's incredible. Her solo shows are very very good too.

I suggested this so long ago! So happy to see it somehow came around. It's just wonderful to see Devin do what he loves doing, you can see the entire time that it is exactly what he wants, and Anneke brightens up any performance. Great video!

@@BethRoars Beth, Anneke was (and still is) unique as a ‘metal singer’.:-) She neither looked or sounded like a typical metal singer. This year marks Anneke’s 25th anniversary as a recording artist. She joined The Gathering in 1994. She’s an inspiration for almost all the younger female metal singers around today. Anneke’s acoustic sessions are amazing also. Just check this out. Anneke and Devin have sung together many, many times. She's was basically an unofficial member of the Devin Townsend Project, singing on all of their albums, sometimes as a back up vocalist and sometimes as a lead or co-lead vocalist. She didn't really tour with them, but she frequently performed at major shows like this one. You should listen to Supercrush from Addicted Live. You'd get to hear her sing lead as well as back up to Devin.

If you want just Anneke then check out Devin's Hyperdrive performed by Anneke. Alternatively The Gathering - Travel, The Gathering - Great Ocean Road or in fact any track from the "How to measure a planet" album

Strange Machines - the Gathering is the song that made Floor Jansen decide to join a metal band. If you wonder why there are such great female rock and metal singers, the answer is: mid nineties they all listened to Anneke van Giersbergen, when she was the lead singer of the Gathering.

Devin’s song “Kingdom” is stunning vocally I think. Worth a reaction video imo.

No offense, I've never seen your channel before but I have been in love with Devin and Anneke for years now and couldn't have clicked faster on this video. So lovely to see them getting more recognition for this performance :)

The band she soldiered along with is called The Gathering. "How to measure a planet" and "Souvenirs" are VERY good albums. Just dont listen to the later after a painful breakup because it might push you over the edge, and will certainly leave you in tears.

More Devin Townsend is always a good thing

My respect for Devin Townsend has risen by this performance. The writing. The vocal capability. His tone. Her tone. Beautiful!

Anneke has made five albums with Devin and toured with him. She's on my favorite album by him, "Addicted". You can definitely say they're used to each other. She's also the lead singer of The Gathering.

Watch America/Britain's Got Talent... It might blow you away with a lot of "soulful" and feel-good singing. If I had reason to suspect you are not just incredibly shallow I might just point out that obviously she naturally has a very "motherly" voice (so get a grip on your mindless exaggeration) and also suggest to check out more (old) Devin Townsend (and metal). (Or anything whether composition matters.)

'Where We Belong' from this same concert is another great Anneke/Devin duet.

I got to see Devin Townsend a couple weeks ago and he was amazing .

Anneke has one of the best voices you should defo check out her solo stuff. These 2 are fantastic together and you should check out ‘supercrush’ at the ‘by a thread’ concert in London it really showcases how these 2 singing on heavier stuff just opens the whole world up! She’s sung on his last 5 or 6 studio records so defo worth checking out! Would love to hear you react to Soen - ‘Martyrs’. 🤘

I’d say Goldilox ( and then the live version where the crowd sings the entire song! ) and then Pleiades and it’s love. 3 part harmonies to die for. So yes Beth come on and give the ‘X’ some love 🤘❤️

Anneke, The Gathering, Anathema... wow, you have a lot of work!!

If you want to listen to some chill Devy music listen to the entire Ghost album. Quick story - I was taking Adderall for ADHD and then stopped for a while and came back to it to help me focus again. But this time was different - I had trouble breathing (probably something to do with changing seasons) and the anxiety I experienced was through the roof. The instant I put on the Ghost album the breathing difficulties stopped and I managed to make it home from work (even walked about 30 minutes to do it ). So yeah - Ghost album from The Devin Townsend Project for "chill music" I can't recommend it enough.

You should do "The Storm" by The Gentle Storm, a project by the Dutch composer Arjen Lucassen and Anneke. Beautiful song and there's a great live version of it on youtube that I'm sure you'd enjoy! That or just any other performance of her with Devin, they have so many due to how much they've collaborated.

I know I'm several months late, but Devin and Anneke also sing together for his live performance of Higher and hoo boy that's a good one.

I recommend u to check out Devins side Project With Che Aime Doval called "Casualities of cool". Not for the vocals… but the good Music. Both are singing in a comfortable area. Just smooth. This was made after Devin nearly burnt himself out on concerts and doing the last album. He met Chè who were in a similar situation.
