There you'll see Floor belting like never before... exhausting just to watch... 25 min after the entire show, last song... E5 F5 G5 phrases with more than 10 seconds each... over and over again... the name is perfect for the song. Make sure you get the one with lyrics and fireworks from Tampere.

This song was wrote by Tuomas Holopainen (Keyboard & Composer) after the band got rid of there 1st singer and he was so depressed he committed on stage suicide instead of real life . The last part where she is sitting with Emppu & Marco that verse was words said to him by his mother & father in real life, & at the very end Emmpu & Marco stand next to Tuomas for support .Nightwish fans are very sensitive about this song . now the Greatest Show on Earth should be your next reaction by them it shows Floor's skills even more

You are the first person I have seen comment on the remaining original members of the band going to stand with Tuomas. The moon "... chose you all..." and she gestures at the audience. Tuomas decided that the moon chose the fans, the music and the band over the one person he loved. 15 years later, Emppu and Marco still stand by him and his decision. Not just for emotional support, but in solidarity for his choice and his sacrifice. If keeping Tarja destroyed the band, we would not have this performance. Tuomas chose us all. There are not enough thanks for him.

Floors "operatic" part was originally sung by the same boy soprano who sang the first part. Anette, who was the original singer of this piece couldn't sing that part. When Floor became a member of the band she told Tuomas she could sing them both. Tuomas kept the intro but let Floor sing the "Pacific" part. And it's not the same boy that does the spoken word as the one who sings. But they're from the same choir. This is a five part piece. "The white lands of Empathica" The boy soprano. The name is a reference to one of the places is Stephen Kings Dark Tower series of books. "Home" Tuomas describes the reasons for his depression: "A widowed writer" He lost his musical "Wife". his muse. "A poet without a rime" He got writers block "The pacific" "Under the same pale moon that chose you" If I remember correct Tuomas, Tarja and Emppu had a night timebarbecue at a lake in Finland when they decided to form Nightwish. "Dark passion play" Describes how fans and the press treated him "Mother and Father" The words Floor sing is words his mother told him in real life. Notice too that the first thing you hear, besides the whispers, is "The end" and the last words is "The beginning". The end of an era and the start of something new.

If you listen to the talking part. When you hear "have three minutes to live". It's three minutes running time. Till you see the pendulum drop an the throat slash. It guts me every time I see Tuomas sing along. Can't wait to she your reaction to "Yours is a Empty Hope" live at Wembley. Floor has a deep surprise for you in the chorus.

So, I think you would be really impressed to react to Nightwish's The Islander. That song features Marko singing lead. It absolutely showcases his clean vocals and ability to be a lead singer (which he actually was with his other band). I really recommend reacting to BOTH the official music video and the live version at Tampere. The music video will give you the visual story behind the song, and the live version will spin an entirely different dynamic. If you want to be emotionally shredded, you won't find too many songs better than this one. Bring a whole box of tissues with you and get ready to hear a completely different side to Nightwish.

Fun Fact about this song: When the line with "3 minutes" comes, it starts a countdown. exactly 3 minutes later you hear a blade fall. Serious Fact: Tuomas wrote this song instead of commiting suicide after suffering from having Tarja kicked out of the band. The song is filld with pictures of him passing or passed away. I think it's been his parents who got him through the worst, so he dedicated a part of the song to them. Tuomas always has a tough time performing this song. That's why the guys gather with him: to give him suport and check if he's alright.

Nightwish is a masterful experience in every title, just as it is an experience of listening to Mozart for those who love classical music, and besides, Tuomas is for me the current equivalent of Mozart, c he is a composition genius. Nightwish was already a huge band in Tarja's time, and there thanks to Floor "Xena" Jansen, they have become essential. Floor is an absolutely gorgeous woman and a monumental singer. ps: you are also amazingly beautiful, I love your face.

It was the last show I got to go to with someone who was close enough to be my other half since we met in high school. She passed away a little over a year ago and that concert was one of our best times together. Yes, this is a deeply emotional song, but there's one that's a little longer that you need to see. It's also super emotional, but in the opposite direction! The Greatest Show on Earth is all about the history of the universe and evolution and how awesome it is that each of us has defied insane odds to actually be born as who we are :-) Check out the version live in Tampere 2015 and you'll lose yourself in the song in a wonderful way ;-) Thanks again and have a fantastic night!!!

xele elex1 the letter was subscribed by all the other founder members, it was a band’s call, not just Tuomas’. Don’t take for granted the diva allegations. Someone who demands cancellation of sold out concerts just to rehearse a parallel solo project and keeps saying de band wouldn’t have a future without her is not part of the band anymore. IMHO, being fired was less than she deserved, if you get it...

Like this one, "The Greatest Show on Earth" Has a theme to it.. It's about the start of the solar system and the evolution of the Earth, and towards the end, mans struggle with the environment. Hence, the readings of Dawkins. This is not a spoiler because it helps to know the underlying theme so you can better understand as you follow along with the performance. When you do the song, 'The Greatest Show on Earth", I suggest the Tampere live version.. Simply because it's outside and the production is much grandeur..

Really enjoyed your reaction. Very insightful and understanding of Thomas’ genius in song writing and composing and Floor’s amazing talent and delivery. I’m a 55 yr old man in Florida and thought Bruce Springsteen was the best musical poet I had ever heard. Tuomas is hands down the best musical poet, songwriter, composer of all time that I have ever heard - no one comes close. I only discovered Nightwish a year ago and am so disappointed and sad I had not known about them before now. Floor is a stage general warrior goddess and has the best voice, range and stage presence I have ever heard or seen. Marco, Empuu, Troy, Kai, Juka - all amazing musicians and among the best ever in their talent and knowing what each song requires and then delivering perfection. Love your references to Lord of the Rings!

Loved your reaction, ❤️ really great ! Isn’t it amazing, that a horrible moment in life of Tuomas forces it’s way out of his heart into the world, while he hardly can play it life without entering the suicidal feelings overwhelming him, again. Then there is that incomparable vocal queen Floor, together with the other accomplices performing this cinematic piece of art. That is only surpassed by some other Nightwish compositions.

There are many comments and I didn't read them all, but since your reaction was so emotional, I decided to comment as well. First, Floor has theatrical preparation and she takes great care in her makeup and wardrobe to contribute to her performance. So movements, gestures, and image in general contribute to the songs that she sings on stage. Second, other comments already mentioned to you the deep meaning that this song has for the composer, Tuomas. Those who know more say that the previous times of this song, he asked the sound team to cut the audio towards him, but this time he wanted to hear everything, so Emppu, the guitarist, approaches him in more than an opportunity to see how he is doing and, in the end, he receives the support of all his colleagues. Finally, Tuomas is very fond of film music and great composers of these have been references for him. Thank you for your beautiful reaction.

Really liked your analysis! And I think you are right about the roles of Marco and Floor in the song - Marco has the second person story teller role, and Floor is singing more from the first person. Tuomas is really an exceptionally good songwriter and composer. So glad he decided to commit suicide in song form, rather than in real life! Their most recent album is a double cd release, where the second cd is a half an hour mostly classical music piece - it is wonderful, and really shows Tuomas' composer chops. I hope some fantasy movie director will notice his talent and we'll hear Nightwish music in some great movie in the future. The 30+ minute classical piece is called "All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World", and there's a great fan made video for it (Which, I hear, Tuomas himself approves of). It may not be something to react to for a vocal coach, but if you want to spend a really enjoyable half an hour on your own, here's the link to the video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hKKDxrNuh7HAes4.html It'll also give you an idea of what Tuomas is capable of. It is wonderful.

I've seen them live. Ugh... it was incredible. I also got to personally wish Floor a Happy Birthday on her way off stage afterward. Her and I are the same age, and it's just amazing to see her with the greatest symphonic metal band in the world after her break following her burnout. I loved her in After Forever but this is almost too good to be true. She is so much stronger than she's ever been. I would like to mention that I've been a fan of the band since 1998. That was when Oceanborn had just been released and I became adapted to the original singer Tarja (also amazing vocalist) and then Anette after their hiatus. Both were very strong and played vital parts in the band's progress but Floor is by far the best suited for them, especially now. Just to mention, during the hiatus many fans feared the band was going to break up, but the album Dark Passion Play was so powerful and so worth waiting for. Yes, the show was intense and I was exhausted afterward, but it was a good feeling, like a release. I love attending and performing metal shows and I get a kind of high feeling off it every time, but this band... sets itself apart from every other show I've ever seen. I got back late after coming home from the show but it was still about 5 more hours before I could fall asleep. If you get the chance to see them, PLEASE take it. We don't know how many albums may be left in Tuomas before he retires. Next year will be the band's 25th anniversary, so regardless of cost try to make it. If there is any way I can talk you into seeing them live, I'll do it. I would not trade that experience for anything. I love how much of a nerd you are, actually. Don't shy away from that! I do the same thing all the time. If you actually read all of this I really appreciate it. Rock on.
