“When you’re left with nothing, anything is everything”. Words that hit me deep in my very soul. Heart-melting, stunning compassion and empathy, way beyond her years, demonstrated by a six-year-old girl towards a homeless, barefoot little girl on a street in the Middle East. Little Angelina named the homeless girl “Princess”, to which the girl responded that they did not have a castle, but that they lived in ruins. Now, 12 years later, the experience still fresh in her mind, and still maintaining her profoundly meaningful, self-determined (at age 6!) legacy of singing barefoot on stage, she uses her prodigious talent and otherworldly BEAUTIFUL voice to pay tribute in song to her Princess of Ruins ("I'll carry the crown for you"). And the heartfelt promise and commitment at the end: "All the broken-hearted, I sing for you". It is no wonder that Angelina is already one of the most beloved artists in existence.

Did you know her name, Angelina Jordan Astar literally means "Messenger from God come down to bring light! No joke. Angelina-"Messenger from God" Jordan-"Goes down." Astar-"as a light "

Nina, thanks for your reaction and analysis. We knew Angelina would write a song about why she will always perform barefoot. I envisioned a somber song but Angelina, as always, surprised me. "Princess of Ruins" is a song of celebration. Both Angelina and the orphan girl she called Princess, benefitted from their chance meeting. Angelina's promise to always perform barefoot and Princess's pledge to pray for Angelina every day, so her dream of singing for the entire world would come true, are cause for celebration. Angelina's family was dancing to this song in Vegas and I am certain all angels will dance to it at future concerts. The smallest act of kindness can have a huge positive impact. "When you are left with nothing, anything is everything."

The 1st few times I heard this song from other fan versions, the audio was terrible because as soon as the drums came in hard the cellphone audio began compressing the sound & it was very muddled. This version by BigAngieFan is so much better & you can actually hear the lyrics, but I can't wait for her to release the studio version with professional, balanced sound to do this song justice. Thanks for your excellent analysis of this new song, you are one of my absolute top reactors to Angelina's music.

I believe this will be Angelina's new anthem for every performance and I agree, I can't wait for the official version!

just thought about Angelina and her family's humanity, in a recent tic tok video she and her family visited Jordan, Saudi and they were overwhelmed with tears of the children's suffering. it tells you of their big hearts

My wife and I were at the 7:00 pm show so we were honored to hear this amazing song being performed for the first time ever. The concert was MAGICAL.

I was at the concert and Angelina was amazing - this song received a standing ovation.

Met a nun who served under Mother Teresa in the slums of Calcutta and she gave me a small photo card with 'Mother's' photo on one side and this inscription on the other side. 'God hath no greater love than for those who come to the aid of a stranger in desperate need.' Am not even sure that Mother Teresa, at six years of age, would have been as perceptive as Angelina when she came across the young orphaned girl with scarred feet and no shoes and gave her the beautiful new sneakers she was wearing? If the inscription on that photo card described a truth, I can see how Angelina felt the love of God shortly after that chance meeting with the girl, for she exploded on the world scene shortly thereafter when she turned 7 and was on her way to being a superstar.

I'm in my sixties and have heard many talented singers , but the first time I heard Angelina sing (age 7) I was interested to see what else she's covered , the second song was it's a man's world live on stage and that was the moment I knew she was something else also ! I listen to her every day now and it's always a surprise and pleasure ! Go Angelina !!!

Infusing pain with hope is another of AJ's singing/songwriting talents.As for her musical direction more of the direction of her EP Old Enough would continue to be incredible.However thus far none of us has been able to second guess what this young genius will unleash next.

We were at the 7:00 show so we were actually the first ones (fans) to hear the song. What a wonderf surprise and a wonderful song. A very important song for her to write. It’s her identity. As a song on its one it’s beautiful and the story makes it even more special. Yes I would like for her to release a recorded version of the song.

Thank you for your reaction/review of "Princess of Ruins". I was one of the very fortunate people to be in the audience when she gifted her Angels with this song. It was special on so many levels. She had hinted in her IG posts prior to the Las Vegas concert that she had a surprise for her fans and she certainly delivered. She said it was the first ever public performance of the song and she was doing it that night on that stage for her fans. She endeared herself above and beyond. As she continues to grow and experiment I have no doubt that we will be continuously surprised and amazed. Thank you again for your insights .

Nina, I love your reactions to Angelina’s songs as you not only point out observations only a singer with your talents can notice, but you can also see your love for this artist when many reactors seem only in it for the views! Every time I hear the chorus I sing along “I’ll help carry the crown with you” as you (and Angelina) have taught me how the timing of the words don’t need to be a direct match to the timing of the music! Nina, I loved your observation about theB G# B D# piano hook in the intro. When I first heard Angelina sing the refrain " They say it's true...." I not only felt goosebumps at the lovely delicate melody but also this enormous rush of deja vu. It was like I had heard this song all my life but it was a brand new song. Never felt that before. It just added to the lovely sentiment of this song. The simple chord changes A B7 G#m C#m throughout contrast with beautiful melody in E maj dancing over them and building throughout the song. I loved you picking up on the counterpoint as well. Not only can Angelina pen beautiful lyrics for her heartfelt encounter but she is quite a tunesmith as well. I loved this song on so many levels. ❤

Certainly this is Angelina's anthem. I think it will be wonderful if she could go back and find that little girl and meet her again and take a picture together and maybe even help her achieve her dreams. Surely the promised prayers from that little girl have had a positive impact on Angelina's career.
