Vocal Coach REACTION & ANALYSIS 🎧 AURORA 🎙️ Exist For Love (LIVE) 🎶

In a recent vocal analysis at Voice Essentials, Dr Dan delves into the captivating artistry of Norwegian singer Aurora. Discussing her song "Exist for Love," he highlights the unique lightness of her voice, contrasting it with the more conventional big and powerful vocals often showcased. Dr Dan draws attention to Aurora's effective use of her upper register, noting the purity of her tone.
He commends the clever arrangement of the song, explaining that it adds richness to the otherwise light sound, preventing listener fatigue. For those interested in vocal techniques, Dr Dan hints that Aurora's consistent airflow contributes to her vocal clarity and evenness, making the performance especially engaging.

Having seen her live 3 times I can honestly say no one comes close to her ability to move emotions in people like she dose,as a songwriter Aurora has an incredible catalog of material, seriously she never fails to write a bad song her lyrics always make you think about life and the world we live in,then you add to that a voice that’s so full of pure honesty and emotions that take the whole package of Aurora to a different level, honestly I’m a 67 year old man who over the years has seen scores of artists live but no one has ever moved me emotionally like Aurora to say she is special would be an understatement,I only have one word for her Genius ❤️

I confess, I'm an Aurora junkie. She is different, in every way. All her sons are different and she constantly revisits them. As she tends to sing in the moment she is generally better live. She sees the world in a different way to most of us and this shows in her lyrics. This song is just a love song but it captures the feelings of new love perfectly.

She is a master storyteller. Her pitch control is very accurate live if she needs it to be. She often ornament with quick little spontaneous arpeggiated note runs that are unsurpassedly precise live. But she mainly focuses on getting the right feelings across and has zero interrest in showing of as a pitch perfect "singer". Her main focuses is the total emotional expression of the story. She uses extended glissando. Has a very rich tone (that works exellent a cappella). Predominantly light and airy, but when her chest voice kicks in, it can be very powerful and have a strong emotional impact on the listener. She has tons of different live performances (They all differ according to the atmosphere and venue), and you will get enough suggestions so I will leave that to others 😊

It's fascinating to hear about the intricacies of Aurora's live performances. Her emphasis on storytelling and emotional expression over technical showmanship is a hallmark of a truly authentic artist. Her skill in pitch control and the use of spontaneous arpeggiated note runs demonstrates a high level of musical proficiency, especially impressive in a live setting where precision is challenging. Aurora's use of extended glissando and her rich tonal quality, which shines even in a cappella performances, adds layers of depth to her music. The contrast between her light, airy voice and the powerful chest voice showcases her versatility and ability to convey a range of emotions effectively. Each performance being unique to its atmosphere and venue suggests a deep connection with her environment and audience, adapting her style to create the most impactful experience. It's clear that her focus on conveying the emotional essence of her stories resonates strongly with listeners, creating a profound and memorable experience. Thank you for sharing these insights into her artistic approach and live performances!

I think you are bang on. Aurora, in spite of her alt pop sound, is in my view a folk singer and as such she "tells" a story every time she sings. Perfection can very rapidly become an enemy of the soul, but Auroras voice is just "perfect" for every song she sings. I'v been following this woman for more that eight years now and I can say without a shadow of a doubt she makes the most beautiful sounds that exist on this planet. A once in a generation singer, writer, poet, human. So nice to get a pro's perspective on such a treasure. More please. Oh, and subscribed.

You can get away with not being strange as a singer. You can even get away with it if you are a vocalist. But as an artist your credibility lies in you somewhat being odd, weird or as you put it "strange". It's like you being a genius and people understand you.......that's no genius at all.

Thanks, I really enjoyed that! Aurora is awesome, and I hope to see more of her on your channel. 👍🤟 It's interesting that you referenced this as folky, as the original has more of a '40s feel, like it could be in an old movie. And even the music video plays into that theme. But Aurora often changes songs up live, whether going full acoustic or not. She never just tries to mimic the original, as she remains creative, no matter how often she performs a song. I would love to see you break down "Murder Song" from the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert, which I consider one of the best performances I've ever seen by anyone. Another good one is "It Happened Quiet" live at The Current, with only Aurora and her lovely backup singer here, Silja Sol, who also plays acoustic guitar in that performance.

Nice 😊. Very talented, but quite the introvert. Took time for her to get comfortable on stage. Never wanted to become an artist and turned down offers, but her mother talked her into sharing her music with the world. As someone already mentioned, I think she was concerned with singing "perfect" when she started out. Lover her acoustic versions, but she's great in any setting. "Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1)" from the Nobel Peace Prize concert is must see Aurora. A different side of her .

Hello Dr. Dan. Great analys. Welcome to our beautiful world of AURORA. Have been following this female being for eight years now and have enjoyed it constantly throughout the journey. I have listened to almost everything in my path during the 45 years of my life and really there are only two artists who have managed to grab hold of my soul in such a strong way and they are AURORA and Amy Lee (Evanescense). Both have a tone that is both strong and fragile. I'm not attracted to brutally strong voices like the ones you mentioned. There are other artists I like but these two are in a class by themselves (in my opinion). As for AURORA, it is not only her singing voice but her entire artistry that is so amazing. She really is someone who can make you relax and the feeling that she sings just for me is always so strong. a proposal for reaction and analysis. Is AURORA. Lucky- live in Nidarosdomen. For me this is the best performance ever been made. So fragile and yet strong. So haunted yet beautiful. and all the time with a presence that touches everything. Sorry about the long text and my english. I am really burning for this artist.

Aurora's overall artistry, extending beyond her singing to her entire presence and performance, clearly has a profound impact on you. The way she makes you feel as if she's singing just for you is a powerful testament to her connection with her audience. Your description of her performance of "Lucky" live in Nidarosdomen as fragile yet strong, haunted yet beautiful, truly encapsulates the unique essence she brings to her music. It's always a pleasure to hear from someone so passionate about their favourite artist. Don't worry about the length of your text or your English - your enthusiasm for Aurora's work shines through brilliantly!

Aurora is a great singer and songwriter...but as someone said...there must be something in the water in Norway. I recommend another Norwegian singer and songwriter. Angelina Jordan. She was born on January 10, 2006 in Oslo. Now she is 18 years old and lives in LA. But she started singing at 18 months (there is a video) She sang many covers of the old masters like Billie Holliday, Etta James, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong etc. Quincy Jones became her mentor and invited her to his 85th birthday to sing at the O2 Arena. She was 12 years old then. There are over 200 songs on YT, but let's start with her cover and original arrangement of Screaming Jay Hawkins' "I put a spell on you" (black and white version) from 2015. She was just 9 years old at the time. I promise, you will be blown away...like everyone.

Yes!! I recommended Aurora a while ago 🙂 While I don't particularly agree with her "woke" activism, I am obsessed with her as an artist (although I like her old songs better than the new ones). She wrote and recorded hundreds of songs! Only a few see the light of day. Some have been leaked, and it's so interesting to see her experimenting with completely different styles. I saw her live twice, and she has the habit of locking eyes with random people in the front rows. She really sings directly to you 😳 She puts emotion above all else in her art. I was going to suggest more of her live performances, but there's already a comment with a long list that seems perfect 👌 I hope you react to her again! I covered a few of her songs in my own channel. My voice has become a bit chipmunky from singing Aurora and Japanese songs so much, so now I'm working in the other direction to expand my toolbelt.

Aurora is a real treasure because she follows her own path - which can lead in some strange directions, interviews with her is like walking through a mine field, she can say anything. Angelina has been astounding audiences since she was seven and now that she's finished high school she's been releasing a lot of stuff. This tribute to Elvis Presley gives an idea of where she now.
