Early on fans noticed that track 5 tends to be her most emotionally vulnerable on the album and she leaned into it so now it's a Thing; therefore, pressure. Also her split with her first label after her 10 year contract was like a divorce.

Absolutely one of my favourites
Taylor's Track 5s are known to be the most vulnerable and most honest song in an album. As she started to make more and more albums, she realizes that she coincidentally puts the most honest, saddest, and most vulnerable songs as track 5, so it's kind of like a tradition among Taylor and Swifties.
The song 'My Tears Ricochet' is about Scott Brochetta/her old record label. Scott is the former CEO of her old record label Big Machine Records. Taylor met Scott when she was only 15 years old. Scott was like a father figure to Taylor, so when he sold her masters to Scooter Braun (which she has always strongly hated). Taylor was very hurt and felt betrayed by Scott considering Scott knew how much Taylor hated Scooter Braun.
@bonnieflynn4798

She was betrayed. He sold his soul for $300,000 million
5:11 This song is “The Last Great American Dynasty” (my favorite). It’s a true story about Rebekah Harkness and her life in the spotlight balancing fame and her personal life with a husband and friends. Taylor is also trying to balance her fame with her private life just as much. The Holiday House Taylor sings about in the song was the real name of the house that Rebekah lived in in Rhode island. “And then it was bought by me” is a great way for Taylor to tie herself into the story and the doing because Taylor ending up actually buying Rebekah’s “holiday house.”
FUN FACT: during one of the nights filming this.....Taylor was up *drunk* and she wrote Tis The Damn Season (from the Evermore album). next morning she approached Aaron in the kitchen about it. (because Jack and them slept there that night.)

Her and Jack have worked on every one of her albums since 2014’s 1989. She was the first artist to ever let him produce, now he works with many people.
I kinda love watching non-Swifties slowly becoming Swifties. Interesting to get Audrey’s professional analysis of Taylor’s underrated vocals, along with her growing appreciation of Taylor’s top tier lyricism. I’m no expert, but her range actually seems pretty impressive, and her lower register is just elite. But the most fun was just the appreciation of Taylor as a person. Had to laugh at Audrey asking “does she smoke pot?” 😂 Like, who’s gonna tell her? Most figured there was at least a double meaning to track 1 of Midnights (“Lavender Haze”) and then Bun B’s IG post about being at a Quest Love party catered by a renowned cannabis chef and being introduce to Taylor there. He also noted that he’s only met two other people as good as Taylor is at making you feel completely seen and heard - Beyoncé and Barack Obama. Very cool.

A couple of things here: 1) It's spelled "Liar," not "Lier." 2) Justin Vernon is the lead singer of Bon Iver, and I hate to be the one to break this to you since you clearly feel so strongly about it, but that is him on Exile. 3) Even if I was incorrect, which I am not, the appropriate response is not "Liar." It is in fact, "Hey, I think you're mistaken." or some variation of that. 4) You clearly have access to the internet. Next time, just google this to confirm that you are incorrect instead of oddly accusing someone of being a liar. Unhinged behavior.

There are a couple of reasons Justin's wearing the face wrap- this was during quarentine and there was a camera crew in his location. Taylor, Jack and Aaron all self-quarantined for 2 weeks before this was filmed in the fall of 2020, so they didn't mask. Also, Justin seems to be pretty introverted and didn't seem to want the focus fully on him.

It's such a beautiful way to play an album for the first time with those who you made it with. The sister album evermore continues the story telling bit with more grown-up themes, i think you'd love it
Okay, answering some of your questions! Justin is Justin Vernon, from Bon Iver "Joe" is Joe Alwyn, her then boyfriend of 4 years (they dated for 6 years and broke up just a few months ago). And the track 5 discourse is actually because Taylor has a tradition of making her tracks 5 the most sad/vulnerable in the albums since her debut ("all too well" and "dear john" are also track 5s), and even though she mentions a divorce when talking about my tears ricochet, the song is most likely about her leaving her old label and losing her masters (hence the "stolen lullabies" line). Aso, just a fun little fact, the "guitarrist" in august that you mentioned might be her buddy, actually is one of her closest friends and collaborators, Jack Antonoff, from Bleachers! He has been working with Taylor since the 1989 album and has produced for Lana Del Rey and Lorde a bunch of times too :) He is the main producer on Midnights! Hope that helps you understand her a little more :)
😂 "I don't understand the storyline".... yeah, you did. You totally got it! True story of the woman who owned Taylor's Rhode Island house before she bought it. OOH, Exile... SO effing good. It sucks that Justin a/k/a Bon Iver had to be all masked up for covid.

Track 5 In the first albums without planning it, the 5th song was always a sad vulnerable honest song, someone noticed the accidental pattern and now it’s tradition to have track 5 be super sad

Track 5 are her more personal intimate songs!! And Jack is not her guitarist jajaja is her writing partner and Gramny winner producer! Jajaja
I can't wait to see you react to the entire Long Pond Studio Session!!! 😍🥰
one thing you might not know is that part of the reason folklore was adapted to a complete acoustic session instead of like a performance is that the album itself is 90% acoustic sounding to begin with. so tayler added some more words and emotions in this documentary, however the studio versions generally have the same or less amount of vocal performance. im not saying this as a negative, folklore is my favorite album ever written and i love the acoustic vibe.
hiii loved the reaction :) the guitarist guy is Jack Antonoff who’s her personal friend but also her producer and co writer on many of her songs, he’s a very renowned producer too he works also with Lorde and Lana del Rey amongst others
Audrey: idk much about Taylor swift. Also her: literally crying and knows everything we stan
I’m at the beginning of the video and I just want to say… I love seeing people’s eyes falling in love of her… There needs to be more knowledge that Taylor Swift is not just a Pop star rich celebrity, she’s a feminine force that bring light and warm to people’s souls, and I mean ALL people, no matter what age, background, physiognomy or believe you have, somehow you will connect with her in such a deep sense 🥲… okey… now I’ll watch your reaction… and yeah… welcome home, fellow swiftie 😅
Since you’ve been on a Taylor binge lately, you should react to her singing Evermore live! It’s Cincinnati night 1. It’s on KZread. Probably her best surprise song performance vocally on the tour so far
i love you just eating popcorn and digesting this album, this is such a cozy video
for reference, the last great american dynasty (track 3) is about rebekkah harkness who was a woman in the 20th century i believe. taylor has always found her story very fascinating and has wanted to write a song about her for a while. also, rebekkahs (spelled wrong i think) house is on Rhode Island and is called “holiday house” which Taylor now owns.
you're on a roll with these taylor reactions
if you want to react to powerful taylor vocals react to “lover live in paris”! specifically the songs death by a thousand cuts, daylight, and cornelia street are vocally powerful there

I am a swifty and know way to much about her lol, but to see someone who doesn't know much about her, react this way to one of her most beautiful and deep albums, makes my heart sooooo SO happy. Thank you for reacting to this. I loved it!!
Her boyfriend at the time, Joe, co-wrote some of the songs with her but he used the name William Bowery. That’s what they were talking about at the beginning of Exile.
Your astonishment with Justin’s voice is my favorite thing 😂
The record of the Long Pond Studio Sessions is amazing, but it's pretty expensive by now. I paid about 300 Dollars for it. But to me, it is worth every penny, because this is the most intimate you can ever listen to these awesome songs from Folklore. It feels like she is singing just for you and that's awesome.
You should watch lover live in Paris. I think you would like the song Cornelia street. Some of the best vocals from Taylor there
William Bowery was a secret identity for Taylor’s ex boyfriend joe Alwyn. Joe help create the song exile. Also Taylor and her fans decided that track 5s on Taylor’s albums are the songs that are very vulnerable. That’s why my tears ricochet was a track 5
My tears ricochet is about Scott Borchetta. The man who sold her masters out from under her, to Scooter Braun.
Taylor's co-writers are Jack Antonoff from Bleachers & fun. (they've worked together a lot) and Aaron Dessner from The National. Joe is Joe Alwyn, Taylor's boyfriend at the time. He co-wrote/co-produced Exile and Betty as well as co-produced My Tears Ricochet, August, This Is Me Trying and Illicit Affairs under the pseudonym William Bowery. He also co-wrote Champagne Problems and Coney Island on Evermore as well as Sweet Nothing on Midnights. Justin Vernon, who Taylor duets with on Exile, is from the indie folk band Bon Iver. The reason he's wearing that cloth is just simply because of Covid and the fact he's in a studio with other people. Like Taylor said, Cardigan, August and Betty are all linked. Cardigan is from Betty's perspective, August is from Augustine/Augusta's perspective and Betty is from James's perspective. The Last Great American Dynasty is inspired by the life of American socialite Rebekah Harkness, who previously lived in Taylor's home in Rhode Island. Like Taylor, she was often scrutinised for her personal life. Track 5 is usually her most personal and vulnerable song on her albums. My Tears Ricochet is about Scott Borchetta who sold her masters to Scooter Braun. Some of the lyrics are also inspired by the movie Marriage Story. The baby she sent presents to in Invisible String is the first daughter of her ex Joe Jonas and his wife Sophie Turner. She also references other songs such as Bad Blood, Delicate and Daylight. The sexism and double standards she sings about in Mad Woman is similar to The Man from Lover (which has a great music video you should react to). The "But there's robbers to the East, clowns to the West" line from Peace refers to Scott Borchetta & Scooter Braun (robbers) and Kanye West (clown). Finally, Taylor has 3 cats: Meredith Grey (after the character from Grey's Anatomy), Olivia Benson (after the main character from Law & Order: SVU) and Benjamin Button (from the Brad Pitt movie). In the music video for ME!, which is the song she and Brendon Urie from Panic At The Disco collaborated on, he gives her a cat. That cat is Benjamin.

Agree she is a better singer. And she is going to equal and surpass Dylan’s immense worldwide impact just for lyrics alone. She’s already the superior performer. However she evolves over the next decades, Taylor will always perform to her fullest. Dylan kind of lost interest.

I'd never heard any Bon Iver songs with him not singing high pitch & it's sooo good it's chilling
Pianist (and co-writer of several songs on this album) is Aaron Dessner of The National.
The Last Great American Dynasty is about the history of the woman who owned her house before and then it refers to her (Taylor) buying the house

Taylor Swift made the lockdown bearable and lifted our spirits.
Last great american dynasty says “and then it was bought by me”, it’s the story about the previous owners of the house she bought

My Tears Ricochet is about her music being sold away from her by someone she loved to someone she hated, hence her stolen lullabies. It's the betrayal that propelled her to rerecord her old music. She wrote it about herself and Scott Borchetta who she once loved dearly and was eventually betrayed by.

Not sure if anyone has said it but the man on Exile is Bon Iver! He did the song Skinny Love which Birdy had a popular cover of. That’s how I first discovered him
With Taylor, the song becomes a great deal more, when you learn the story behind it. There have been songs I didn't really care for, till I heard the backstory, and then it just sort of unlocks the song for you, and you really hear just how good it is. There are many songs like this from Taylor. The more you learn about Taylor, and each song, the more you grow to like her music. I don't think I've ever really experience this with any other artist. Most people are only surface level listeners, then you have the people that really listen deeply, and really understand just how good she is. There is a reason why she's one of the best songwriters in generations.
Im so happy you connected to This Is Me Trying and Epiphany!
Suggestion I would love to hear you do Taylor's songs that she has made for movies and lyrics she did for other artist. That is amazing to hear!
