HI i'm not here to hate, I hope this comment to be critic and hopefully helpful. (for both labels and artists) Stmpd have many problems, dance music lately has. One of them is being stucked too much on get artists that have a specific sound that resembles "their" sound that it slowly became the most boring label, only going forward thanks to martin popoularity. At first it was nice between brooks future bounce style, vluarr bass shot driven, dyro powerful bass house, and many more house oriented. But lately is all about getting tracks which are good, solid, fitting the label but not finding art, this is the perfect representation of what Porter Robinson in the past called out from the industry, leaving his old sound cause it was everything about dropping basses and make everyone jump like idiots and not having a musical experience and fun. I'm sure martin remembers his old times, working on different styles that didn't make sense but helped on finding new skills and knowledge to create something new. Animals was the perfect example, It was not well produced, it was not hard to make, it was not following a sound but it opened his career because it was special, it was what his taste was. I'm writing this cause this it's a very bad influence also for producers cause i've seen and i see a lot of producers ruining their sound and creativity to recreate this sounds and structure just to become another copy paste. Stmpd has great potential but it needs to be supported and not get lost in consumerism and greed, go and search for the art, stmpd is great because you don't need to have a big name to get your song released and looks like the staff helps their artists to build a future career. This is what i would like producers to listen: Have fun making music and create what you like and what you would like listening, not what labels put out. Everyone has a different brain, you can take all you liking in music to create something new, and no matter if you listen to the same artist, your work will be different from someone who listen the same artists because each person have a different brain and makes different choices while producing. Don't ruin your creativity to fit what other people think others would like, it'll get you stuck in a loop, where you want to make something good, "yours" but that also fit styles, but that will bring you to not being able to bring your art out. If you are already locked in this circle and can't make something new or you think you can't, take a break. Listen to other artists, classical, hip hop whatever, you will be able to find what you like and come back. It could takes Months, years, or days if you're lucky but it'll help to make what you like again, feel what you felt when you started.
