We are Team Gaon Guthyaar, (means village and home/house) who has undertaken the noble cause to irrigate the roots. Since Independence of India and later on since formation of Uttarakhand (previously known as Uttaranchal) lack of political will outpaced the highland region of Uttarakhand in terms of development and basic infrastructure to the rest of world. It is a truth universally acknowledged that highland people live in a very peculiar, inhospitable and hostile condition. Political overlooking (the highland) fueled the fire and highland people were compelled to migrate; consequently, a mass exodus has been taking place over a decade for a better life and job opportunities for themselves and their offspring. But segregation from the motherland is the most heartbreaking undertaking. To console the migrated mass some splendid people work day and night and reconnect them virtually back to their roots. The Team Gaon Guthyaar visits the villages, speaks to the villagers, stays in the villages, goes in the houses, eats in the villages, shows the abandoned houses & deserted villages and most importantly asks the villagers to communicate with their kith and kin who have gone away to earn bread and butter. On the one hand we the Team Gaon Guthyaar promotes the activities, e.g. eco-tourism in untamed Himalayas, enjoying a peaceful stay in a homestay in the majestic Himalayas, relishing the locally grown organic food and many more to boost the local economy and thereby the well-beings of the highlanders. And on the other hand we the Team Gaon Guthyaar encourages the local culture, viz. protect villages and their way of life, folk song, folk dance, dialect and folk costume. The last but not least the mission of the Team Gaon Guthyaar is to check the mass migration of the highlanders of Uttarakhand by any means.
