vlog: my custom wheelchair
hi friends,
i am an ambulatory wheelchair user, which means that i can stand un-assisted for short periods of time and get around with other mobility aids. my wheelchair is helpful to me when going long distances, carrying items from one place to another, and doing more tasks independently, so i use it a lot of the time.
this video aims to spread awareness about the importance of understanding individual needs, and why it's essential to approach every mobility device with an open mind, never assuming that all wheelchairs are the same or work the same for different people.

How much does it cost?

It depends what disability you have. In New Zealand where I live you can get compensation through ACC if you have an accident and they will pay for your chair. You can also get them through the public health system i think, or be assessed by someone from the ministry of disabled people. They can help cover the costs of some equipment. But the reality if you have a pre-existing health condition in many countries is that you will need to pay a large portion of the costs if you want a decent chair.

The Ki Mobility Rogue 2 starts at $1887 US. May be less if you can get a prescription for it & depending on your health insurance company how much they’ll cover. More than likely, in the US, you will have to cover most of the costs.
