I´ve loved Heidi since I was a kid because I could relate to the the feeling of a stray mtn kid who is taken to the city but never adapts and returns. I guess that´s why I went to Switzerland happily after having met a Swiss girl, and have been trying to learn German ever since. However, I never got around to visiting the Eastern side of the country so I´m happy you went and made your video, just in case I never see it myself. It´s amazing what childhood stories can do!

Thanks for the video. I passed the Heididorf sign at the interstate frequently, when I headed to Torino/Italy (business) or on mountain hiking/biking vacations to Graubünden (Sedrun), but I never visited the Heididorf :( BTW, Your videos are really great. Actually, we have a common attitude, I often hike by myself and I love the Alps, especially Switzerland and South Tirol, but more in higher elevation. Often without any man-made tracks, just me, the nature and some marmots, eagles .... It is obvious, you are near Chur and I recommend you a nice hike, when most of the snow is gone, to the spring of the river Rhine. Starting at the Oberalp Pass, which you reach easily by train from Chur, the hike is not very demanding and a beautiful experience. Anyway, please go on with your wonderful videos. Have a great time and all the best from Bavaria.

Oh, you should really visit the Heididorf, especially since you love hiking and nature..it's wonderful. Yes, Chur is 10 mins from where I stay and I didn't know of the Oberalp Pass but next time I come back to visit - will def do! Bavaria? :) Some of the happiest days of my life were spent there... I had visited Augsburg (my dad's birthplace), Munich and Schloss Neuschwanstein with a very dear friend. Truly unforgettable. Thank you again - all the best, Jeni

Belive it or not, I am from Munich, but i live since a looong time in Augsburg :) I watched almost all your videos, but I thought, now it is time to comment. In one of the last videos, when you walked through the forest, I could almost smell the trees and the herbs (too early for mushrooms), there is nothing better for the soul than mother nature. Heidi's always been my favourite series, I'm actually currently rewatching it and watching it always makes me homesick for the swiss alps (never been there haha) i hope to one day visit them

I was wondering about the Real Heidi's House (Heidishütte?... I don't know German yet, hehe). What's the story behind it? It definitely looks like the one in the cartoon! Right in the middle of nowhere. I've noticed people go straight to the one in Heididorf but totally skip the one you visited. Again, thanks for sharing this with us :)

Yes! Heidishütte is nestled higher up in the Alps - this is supposed to be her grandfather's home, and the hills are where Peter and Heidi would watch after the "Geissen" - little goats. (it's now a restaurant and privately owned). The views up there are amazing. I read there's a fountain somewhere beyond this hütte dedicated to Johanna Spyri (I didn't know until recently!!) so I'll have to go back and check that out sometime! Have fun in Switzerland. It truly is an enchanting place to visit!

My dad as a child would watch the show he always loved the scenery and the characters. So much that my dad named me Heidi. I want to take my dad there one day. Thank you for the video 😊

I live 20km away from the Heididorf and never was there, well, until today :P I couldn't enjoy it as much, because it was full of (literally crowded) Japanese people :( The spirit of Heidi kinda got lost for me. It was still cool though. I went up to the alp with my bike. There is a little café there. Maybe you were not there during the main season and thus it was closed... I enjoyed watching your video, well done!

Hi, Thank you for making this awesome video. I am taking my daughter, 9, this summer. May I ask you a couple of questions: Does the hike take you through any private properties? I read somewhere that the trail goes through some private fields and warned about staying away from cows and guard dogs. Is this true? Also, about how long is the hike in km/miles? Again, thank you for the great video and information.

You guys will really love Switzerland! This particular hike does not cut through any private properties. There are cows that are grazing at the end of the hike, and you might run into a few of them on the way… It’s actually quite common for hiking paths to go through private property, but there are signs that mainly warn about staying away from cows that have their calves with them. I’m not exactly sure how many miles the hike is, but the last time I hiked it it took about an hour to an hour and a half. However I did this after hiking in Colorado a lot so I was used to it! Even though it’s an easy hike, if you are not prepared, it can take you much longer. But it definitely has some beautiful views and it’s totally worth it 😊😊😊😊😊

I actually went up there again in the summer - you can eat outside (it’s private yes) but they serve drinks and some food, great views but too bad you can’t go in the house, yes :/ it’s really worth the effort to hike up there, tho! So beautiful and great exercise😀

Yeah I saw the 2nd season..but as you said the story is a bit different from anime and the book..I think they've changed the storyline...(which is a sad thing though)..
