Thank you!! 💗
the distinct malaysian accent! 😉 did your family migrate over to where you are studying now? Or was it by chance your parents are already workin there?
Hi ,this is probably strange asking this but I’m hoping to study at uoa next year and i was wondering if its best to live from home or live in halls (opinions from u or friends?) I don’t live in the area so im unsure, but i was hoping to stay with relatives.

Hi Jessica, apologies for the late reply > (I hope you will get notified after I post this comment.) Before giving some of my personal opinions or some sharings I've heard from friends of mine, I'll state my situation first. 😊 I live with my family (I am still even after graduating from university), and the first 2 years of my university life sadly happened during covid. Whether it's best to live at home or in university halls largely depends on your individual circumstances, preferences, and goals. Here are some considerations that may help with your decision-making: Living at home: 1. Cost: Living at home can be more cost-effective as you may not have to pay or pay less for accommodation (even renting with your relative should be cheaper or best to be rent free), meals, and utilities. 2. Comfort and familiarity: You're in a familiar environment, which can be comforting and stress reducing. As comparing to student halls, living at relative's home may not entirely feel same like home depending on your relationship, how close you are with your relative. But it will still feel closer like home. 3. Support system: You have your family or relatives that are close by for emotional support and guidance. 4. Privacy: You may have more privacy and personal space compared to a shared dormitory. Living in Halls (Dorms): 1. Independence: Living in dorms offers more independence and a chance to experience self-reliance and personal growth. 2. Social opportunities: Dorms can be a great place to make new friends and socialise, as you're surrounded by other students. 3. Convenience: You are closer to campus facilities and classes, which can save time and reduce transportation costs. 4. Immersive college experience: Living in dorms can provide a more immersive college experience with access to events, clubs, and extracurricular activities. Ultimately, the choice depends on your individual circumstances and priorities. You may also consider a compromise, such as living at home during the first year and then moving into student halls for subsequent years as you become more comfortable with college life. (Or the other way around, living in student halls during the first year and then moving back home for the rest of your university study years. That is what most people do, but it may or may not be worth it.) It's essential to weigh the pros and cons and consider what aligns with your financial situation, social needs, and personal goals. Let me know after you make your decision. I would love to know! Also hope you are looking forward to doing your further studies here in Auckland. ♥

Thank you that was really helpful! also one last question😅 how long was your apply process? I apply for semester one during Aug, but have not yet been accepted into enrolment, whereas in other university have pretty much gone through that process and people have been accepted. I have to wait for the year after to receive outcome.
So proud🥺🫶🏻🫶🏻
