Vladimir Putin Meets Xi in China: Can India Still Count on Russia? | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Vladimir Putin Meets Xi in China: Can India Still Count on Russia? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Russian president Vladimir Putin visited China and met his counterpart Xi Jinping, just one week after being inaugurated for a fifth time. The China-Russia partnership has evolved in the last decade, triggered by a rivalry with Western countries. Though Moscow was the senior partner in this equation during the Cold War, China's recent economic progress has reversed the status quo. China's economy is now almost eight times bigger than Russia's and supplies key strategic items like micro-electronics and machine tools to Moscow. How should India see this bonhomie between Putin and Xi? Will Russia back India if conflict breaks out between New Delhi and Beijing? Palki Sharma tells you.

@@michaelrussell4254 bro fundamentally we are with the west japan , Korea and Australia , Russia has been a strategic partner when USA was supporting Pakistan a terrorist state. It is west which for its greed for oil has complicated matters in middle east. We won't forget Russias help ever. And Russia is part of the west don't forget that .they may be mad like u say sometimes they are much sane than western countries in many cases which even ur people say. Bro all our platforms from chat to business like WhatsApp ,insta ,KZread ,Google and AWS ,azure and our semiconductors are all western because we trust with the west with our data. We don't trust the Chinese that's why we have banned Chinese apps. Our relations with Russia is important so we can take care of Chinas incursions we r landlocked by Pakistan ,China bangladesh Sri Lanka and many countries which owe China a lot of debt , we need Russia don't u get it ? Don't be dumb and I don't blame u for not knowing India's geography but please understand basic needs coz ur countries have no problems with China landwise but we have and we r a democracy which China is against.

@@murecerickman Saved is a stretch, Helped is more accurate. You have to remember. India forced a complete surrender of Pakistan(Many times bigger than Ukraine) in 13 days. Simply put you seem to not understand India-Russia relation. Its one of complete understanding, not of be-holded. It is of never working against each other. Here India would understand if Russia is in a bind in a India_china war and is limited its servicing ability. The question is not if Russia would be against India(India would not think that way) but about if Russia can be restricted from aiding. You need to get out of viewing the world in terms of alliances, your side/my side mentality. The reason why this working relation between India-Russia works so smoothly is because these two share one crucial similarity even if they are worlds apart in culture. That is both are multi-ethnic societies for most of its history. With that comes dos and donts that is ingrained into the behavior, expectation and actions. Both think in terms of how the other thinks and understand the limitations of each, never considering even negative action in terms of for you or against you. But actions in terms of other's options available. Take for example, India could have refused to buy Russian oil dooming its ability in the war with Ukraine. India was not Russian oil buyer, but when the option is there to buy India not doing it would be a against Russia for no reason but to be against Russia. India is not that neither is Russia, and that comes down what I said. If the Russian Oil price was too expensive because of the transport cost India saying No as it hurts its population, then Russia would have understood. So both arrived at what works for both. Do you understand how multi-ethnic societies comes to the middle for a working relation? I hope the rest of the world learns from how these two countries work with each other.

USA supported Pakistan before its own country got hit by islamic terrorism. And Russia I s not that influential anymore we only need it for our military needs and cut this crap that Russia is not part of the west ,it is and always been. The only problem is nato trying to bring Ukraine in it and Russia is wary ,stop that and Russian war will stop. Russia doesn't want to harm Ukraine ,it only wants nato to stay away from it. So who shud be the one to back down ?

India your enemies should not necessarily be Russia's enemies. Russia has the right and duty to choose it's own friends who realigns with Russian's Multipolar world of anti West and other interests. The Us directly and or indirectly control's both India and Pakistan and they are not threat to the US interests unlike Russia and China.

At this time, Russia needs all the support it can get, so it may get competitive with China to not give China the upper hand, but it will never go against China to support India. It will try to be diplomatic with both for its own interests, just like how we handle the west and Russia. Just like Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina does with India and China. But in the same tone, Russia can't go against India either.
