I've been using the Dan Kubin Sidewinder V2 from Workhorse Irons for a little over a year and I have zero complaints. It's similar to the Avenger 2 Pro in that it's a hybrid (armature bar, sealed rotary motor etc) but it has a dial on the back that easily adjusts stroke length. It's numbered 1-9 (with an * for the middle of the road setting...probably around a 3.5 mm) so it's a little tricky to dial into a measured stroke, but it's incredibly reliable and smooth. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. That being said, I just bought one of these and am stoked to try it out! Great review!

Hey, I used to have Kubin too, I think it was V4 or V4.5 , it was good machine. little too hard hitting for me personally. There was adjustment too underneath. I think it wasn't for stroke, more for smoother and harder hit, what could also be little bit stroke , but overall it was still little bit too punchy for me. This machine is much smoother , less noise, less vibration and lighter too. and I think better when the parts were not that exposed. Only thing what I think - it wouldn't be easy to line traditional tattoos all day with this. Let me know what do you think when you get one, would be nice to hear from someone who worked so long with Kubin.

I can't imagine needing a 5.5 stroke ever, but I would still love to try it out. Did you try the Inkjecta X1? I've been using it for a year now and love it, got the Sol Nova Unlimited 3.5 a couple of days ago and can't wait to try it out, but have a feeling I'll be stuck with the X1 for a while. I can't wait until some of the manufacturers come up with a fully autonomous wireless machine which can switch strokes on the go, think that will be the grail when it comes up.

  • @AnrijsStraumeTattoo

hey, yeah. I had used and I had video about it before too. I would say Avenger line of the machines are similar in a way to them, but much smoother version. Avenger will still feel closer to the rotary than coil, with Kubin I think it's other way, more closer to coil. and mechanism also is lot closer to coil with springs / heavier bar etc.. machine is heavier too. all depends on what are you looking to do with it. For my work - I would struggle to make it with Kubin (apart from lettering) But It would be easy to achieve almost all my work with Avenger machines. really great all rounder machine. Hope that helps in some way.

Hi - amazing review as always Anrijs. Some advice please everyone! My coil broke (again) - it’s a fast machine great for finer line - and has some give. I wanted to achieve soft feathered lines to create a feather. Or even those subtle lines for flower petals. Almost like a stipples line - but softer/smoother. Sadly that day my machine broke before this feather tattoo - and my rotary works and stigma v3 could not create these soft lines? But I had to still improvise - It didn’t come out how I wanted it to - It really bugged me. If anyone knows what I mean? Has anyone used this machine and can it create this effect ?- or any other rotary. I’m feeling lost and I would like a new rotary machine that does many effects. It’s a lot of money to blow and I have had so much bad luck with purchasing expensive machines and they not do what I want it to. Thank you all in advance :)
