So cross-species crossover featuring two of my all time favorite actors? I. Am. In. My friend named them Draclan, which I love.
Think of this as a visual fanfiction. Parts 1, 2, 3, 4 are the chapters and they cover from the moment of Vlad's mortal death to their full reunion. The Pathfinder, Becoming, and There it still remains are oneshots, and Fall of the Dragon is the Epilogue.
The oneshots look deeper at Kala/Declan's journey:
-The Pathfinder covers his spirit walk.
-Becoming covers from the start of his spirit walk to his first transformation into a wolf, and the subsequent ending of his relationship with Grace. He continues to be haunted by dreams while he recovers from his injuries, though his native american beliefs tell him these are more than just dreams. Now that he's accepted the wolf, he can't go back to Grace because the wolf inside him wants someone else. Somehow he know's that, but not who, and not why.
-There It still Remains shows the 3 times his spirit was scarred by the order. When they are children the Village is set on fire. Kala gets Vlad out but gets trapped inside. He suffers severe burns on his hands while trying to escape. Turkey invades again in their late teens, the night after their first kiss. They are captured by turkish forces and Kala takes the rack in Vlad's place.
Summary:
1439 on the farthest outskirts of Romania, today the tribute is due, but such a small village could never pay tribute to the king in gold. They had only enough crops and livestock to feed their village and though they were great blacksmiths their remote location did not bring them any coin. However, there was one thing they could offer… Each year they would send 10 young men to the capital in personal service to the king, and so it had been for over 200 years. They had no coin, but there were no greater warriors in all of Romania. This year was special, this year the scadenţă would pass. This year only one boy would be chosen, and there was no greater honor than to be chosen as tovarăş(companion and protector) to the prince who reached maturity on this day.
As the years pass, Vlad Dracula, the Prince of Romania, and his tovarăş Kala become lovers. They have loved each other from that first moment, the day of Vlad’s scadenţă. In 1459 in his 28th year, Vlad is denounced by the Orthodox Church, and Kala is poisoned and burned alive while unconscious. Vlad is excommunicated, and condemned by The Order of the Dracul, for his sins he is damned to endless night. They seal him away inside a sarcophagus until 1881 where he is awakened by a scientist. This scientist offers a trade. If Vlad helps him receive vengeance against the order then he will help him walk in the light. Vlad agrees. He has only two true desires. 1) To retrieve his most prized possession, and 2) to be reunited with his one true love, but first he must walk in the light. What good would it be to reclaim his love if they can’t walk in the light together?
Late 1700’s Northern Territories(Canada), The Order of the Dracul have a new name, but their thirst for wealth and power remains the same. They monopolize the fur trade and devastate the Native American tribes. A half Irish half Native American boy named Declan Harp is born. He grows into a rough and tumble outlaw determined to bring down their monopoly on the fur trade. As is the fate of most outlaws, he is destined to die young. After being captured and tortured, near death he stumbles into the wilderness, and collapses. He falls into a trance and his soul is opened to the Great Spirit, and a guardian spirit comes to him, The Pathfinder, to lead him to his rightful place. He emerges from this spiritual journey as a Limmikin, a werewolf. He seeks out kin, and finds Magua who is older and wiser, but also an alpha. They must go their separate ways, no pack can have two alphas, and Magua prefers to be a lone wolf, but he is always there to guide Declan.
Nearly 600 years have passed, if real love, true love, exists, will the soul remember?
