Greetings folks,
It´s teaching time again.....we´re gonna have a close look at the classic piece Summer from Vivaldi. Many people seem to struggle with the tabs, so I decided to make a detailed lesson about it and want to show the poeple how you can play it on your guitar.To me it was the most successful and comfortable way to play it, you may want to change some fingerings, or play it different....
Part 2 is already shot and is coming the next days

So whilst discovering your videos..I am watching this, to get the ideals of patterns down....Anyways great job, great playing...Your teaching of this song is very easy to follow along to...Just watching the fingers and positions slowed down is great..Don't worry about tabs, they are just lazy and don't want to replay and pause the video. :) \m/ Keep up the good work. You rock.

    Sorry, in regards to picking, why don't I want to end on an up stroke? If it's 3 notes per string, isn't it more economical to simply go up/down/up on each string?

  • @ChrisShredGuitar

    @ChrisShredGuitar

    6 жыл бұрын

    basically you´re right, but this is a special case. I am talking of the intro runs right? just to be sure we´re talkn about the same part Alright, every run starts off-beat plus all the runs are connected with fast repeatable notes. No the point here is, if you start with an downstroke (like you would do on a normal run) you´re ending with an upstroke -> then pick those repeatable notes aswell ending on an upstroke. so you´re doing an upward motion but you already neet to get to the next run which is starting (in case of the second run) on the high e-string. So you´re ended on that upstroke and you do an upward motion which is the opposite direction of your destination ( high e string) in other words, your making a motion in the wrong direction -> you move upwards but you need to go downwards. If you start on an upstroke, you´re ending on a downstroke aswell after the repeatable note, then you´re ending on a downward motion so it´s way easier to reach the next run ( high e string) Well of course you can do whatever you want, but I think this makes it a lot more easier and it makes sense to me, but thats just my way of playing it, and my opinion. I recommend this to do so, but if you´re comfortable with your way, then go ahead :D Anyway I hope you get what I´m talkn about, if not we can do some skype sessions I´m doing that, too cheers

  • @ChrisShredGuitar

    @ChrisShredGuitar

    6 жыл бұрын

    lukeonn well this is difficult.to tell, there are so many little details you can miss when it comes to picking, I had your issue aswell, but its difficult to give you specific tipps if I dont know how your picking actually is. Well try to play it slowly Pick very light Use your wrist and NOT your forearm And try to seperate the part your struggle with and isolate your picking Take the speed your comfortable with and think about what changes if you speed it up, generslly try to analize as mucj as possible, Can't give you more tipps but hope this works and most important Never Ever Give Up! One day you ll make it

    Wait a second do you alternate pick the first runs, meaning after string changes do you go down, or do you just sweep with the changes. Because if you start each string on an upstroke you're going to have two upstrokes which is bad.

  • @ChrisShredGuitar

    @ChrisShredGuitar

    7 жыл бұрын

    Name not Found I alternate picked them, actually it worked for me, because those runs are not on point they start like 1 and. So by using an upstroke you will connect to the last note, ( the one you repeat a lot of time) do you know what I meant? and by conncecting the repeatble note with the next run it will be down - up ( next run ) its working fluently

  • @namenotfound34

    @namenotfound34

    7 жыл бұрын

    ChrisShredGuitar Understood, my problem is I've ran into the habit of only changing strings after upstrokes (the Yngwei thing), so, let's take the first one, going from up down up on the b string and getting to the g is easy but then going down up down on the g becomes a problem, sweeping the string changes works but it feels awkward and reversing the picking completely does as well since two upstrokes line up. With things like this I usually force an upstroke with a legato note but this I just want to pick the whole thing.

  • @ChrisShredGuitar

    @ChrisShredGuitar

    7 жыл бұрын

    Name not Found I know what your problem is, I think you should use pickslanting in order to get this down. your problem is (considering your doing the yng way) that you have to do an upstroke from the "G" to "B" string, which is against the yngwie Rule. So I would suggest you to use pickslanting, since you're in an inside picking motion. I think the other possability would be to legato pick it, but if your starting the run on a downstroke you won't be fluently with the repetive note... I hope pickslanting will solve the problem

  • @namenotfound34

    @namenotfound34

    7 жыл бұрын

    ChrisShredGuitar"" I think the other possability would be to legato pick it"". That's what I'm trying now every other string ends with a pull off, since I'm stubborn and refuse to change the slant lol. The pull off does alter the sound which annoys me but you can't win them all I guess.

    Ive got one very big Problem with this Track... Im searching for Tabs I can print out so I dont forget how to play this sick Scales after a few Weeks but everyone plays it f*cking different. Tbh if someone thinks that the sweep picking is hard no it isnt it is even harder to find good Tabs! Im at around 4:20 and I would need 3 different Tabs for this yet cauz no one makes good ones like wtf what are these people thinking? It would be more or less easy if I would know what to play but no we need more different Scales no one heard from. This Video is the best Solution I have found cauz You can find a system behind the scales which makes it easier to remind them but some Parts are still played different and If I nethertheless would forget how to play this ill just throw my Computer out of the window and maybe my guitar too cauz I hate it if hard work is just away...

  • @ChrisShredGuitar

    @ChrisShredGuitar

    6 жыл бұрын

    SoulHealingBeats Blackdemon well I totally agree. I was in the same situation,I guess you need to find a version that suits you. In addition to that it depends on what kind of guitar you have, if you got 24 frets its a different story you know. So on the part 4:20 well I still couldn't find a perfect solution but try to find a way to play it maybe not pick evetything or try to be rather out or inside the strings. But yeah the tabs mostly suck, that why its hard to play classical music, it is designed for violin and not for guitar haha You got any question feel free to ask,might can give you a new perspective. Without tabs or pentagram all the teaching effort is useless and who can remember after a couple of minutes where you put your fingers to play something.

    An important part of playing the guitar is to use your ears and not just rely on what you see! I recommend this lesson to advanced guitar players. Well look in this piece there are many different techniques involved, stuff like tapping, sweeping, alternate picking and so on and it has weird picking patterns with inside and outside situations, since it was originally not composed for guitar, that makes it really hard. As a conclusion you should be already familiar with those techniques and if you are then the things I play make a lot more sense.
