Viv's Aircraft Engine ABC Custom Motorcycle

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Viv swapped a pillar drill for a Blackburn Beverley aircraft auxiliary engine many years ago, on visiting The Bike Shed show he knew he had to build a custom motorcycle around the engine. Building the entire bike from hand, and with all period design and manufacturing, this incredible machine has taken 400 hours to build. The attention to detail of this V Moto bike is exceptional.
For those who love to hear the motorcycles we feature start up, hang in there on this one.. it's gonna come in a future video. With it not being run in over half a century, Viv's next part of the project is to check over the engine and make sure it's all in good working order. With only 80 of these ever being made, as you can imagine spare parts are pretty hard to come by. We certainly don't want him to blow the engine until he's sure it's in fine running order.
Nobody want's to hear the V4 roar into life again more than Viv himself, so please be patient with this one.

It’s a thing of beauty and 400 hours isn’t a great deal of time all things considered, approximately 10 weeks work to the average person for an outstanding build, hopefully one day in the future it will find its way into a public museum/ collection where a lot more people will get the enjoyment of seeing it in the flesh . I sincerely hope that you will be able to get it running someday . Thanks for sharing .

I absolutely LOVE this engine. One of the best looking engines I've ever seen, it's so overbuilt and complex. Good job on saving this engine and keeping it in original condition. The carburetor looks so awesome on the side, down low, and facing the right direction to keep dirt out. I learned a new word for bolts too: "Fixins." Thank you teaching me a new word! I've never heard that word before around here ;)

Absolutely love it. It sits really well. Particularly like the way you had it patinated. Everything looks well proportioned. I like the way the tank and the seat level through. Attention to period detail such as the sand bending of the frame set this one apart. Imagine if you parked this outside the ABC factory back in the day. I bet it would have stopped the production line.

Fantastic creation ! Getting everything right for this bike is a true labor of love & the small details like the brazed style frame vvould make nearly every motorcyclist looking it over think the bike had been originally made in the 1940's . The V4 engine stands out & its patina is perfect.I'm so glad you didn't try polishing it up . I hope that after you check through the top end & it is ready to go that you'll make another video of it. For all the hard vvork you've put into it as vvell as having to carry the engine around for years ,you are very deserving of having a bike so unique , as vvell as it being the only one in existance . I vvish you many years of joyfull riding once it is ready . Also you should make up some shelves for all the avvards you are bound to be vvinning once you start bringing it to bike shovvs. Thank you for sharing this magnificient machine.

I once had a V Twin 82nd Airborne Division Field generator, within a cage to ease handling and air drops. It fired my imagination to where it could only be used as a small motorcycle engine. I had a 125 HD in a hardtail frame that was the spitting image of a WR frame and was all set to start when someone stole both of them from my back porch. You can imagine my anger and disappointment, I'm sure. I'm so glad to see that you have realized your dream. From one machinist to another, keep up the good work. You do it well, indeed.
