    I just bought the e320 at Costco Mexico-Cancun. This unit is for our vacation home in mexico, back home in Seattle we have the 5200 model. In summary, the review is spot on. We paid $316 usd out the door, so pretty good deal. We like the blender with the exception of the speed dial, it does not feel like a quality part. Vitamix could have done a better job there. Seems like the accountants are taking over vitamix :( The noise and everything else is pretty much on par with our vitamix 5200 model back home. If we had to do it again, would we get one? The short answer is YES!

    I love my vitamix. it's loud, but that's because it's powerful. I'm not trying to be quiet while blending. The personal cups are great. if you rinse your cups immediately they are a breeze to clean. That being said, with a 5 minute soak anything comes off them with ease!

  • @JoesPhenomenal

    @JoesPhenomenal

    2 жыл бұрын

    True... for me personally, I don't care too much about noise... Kitchens are supposed to be noisy! It means good stuff is happening. LOL. As far as cleaning goes, with any blender, I always just rinse em out really quick, shoot in some detergent and warm water, and blend away. They always come out nice and clean pretty easily. When people wait and let stuff dry on em, that's when they get a little challenging. On the Vitamix, I'm more of a fan of the 5000 series ones. Those ones are my favorite in their line. Thanks for your insight! It's much appreciated!

    My experience with Vitamix is not recent. I bought my Vitamix used off of Craigslist about 10 years ago for, I believe $100. The woman told me it was 20 years old and I'm sure it was. The only negative was it was missing a rubber foot. So I found a piece of plastic about that size and keep it with the blender. It's the only annoying thing about my blender. I thought many times over the years about calling Vitamix and seeing if they had a replacement, but I just never got around to it. I am here today because I am researching the latest info on the Vitamix and will maybe, finally, buy a new one. I'm probably going to go with the Costco Venturist 1200, which, I'm pretty sure, is the Ascent 2300. With Costco you get $165 worth of accessories. Regarding your review, I get the impression in some cases you are just looking for reasons to criticize Vitamix so you will sound unbiased. Like assuming if you run the thing with fewer ingredients at a lower speed the container will rock. Huh? You say you only tested it mostly filled and running at high speeds. What's up with that? You and your test kitchen couldn't run one more test to see if your criticism was valid? You say the tamper feels like a child's plastic baseball bat. Fair enough. So how did it work in your test kitchen? Did it do the job? I can't speak to the quality of this new, smaller tamper directly except to say my original tall tamper is 30 years old and is working just fine. You also say that the blender is too loud at high speed (too true!) but that the lowest speed "probably" is useless! Again, HUH? Now I'll admit I haven't had the need to use the Vitamix at the slowest speed but I can think of a number of things I might use it for, like grinding coffee or grinding flour. My problem with you is you didn't even try it, to see if it might be useful at low speeds. Epic review fail. Your one criticism I agree with is how loud the motor is and it is annoying. I wish they would do something about that. That said, unless I'm making a soup or grinding 60oz of coffee beans into a turkish blend (my preference), I don't usually run it for more than a minute to make my green juices. You say Vitamix says you can warm up soup in the blender and that you could do it faster on the stove. Vitamix has never, to my knowledge, recommended using it to "warm up" soup. What they say is you can MAKE SOUP FROM 100% FRESH INGREDIENTS with the blender in about six minutes AND YOU CAN. I love using my Vitamix to make hot soup. Regarding the dial being "jenky", I can't speak to that. It probably should have a smoother transition from slow to fast and that may be something a professional chef would notice, care about, and need. Perhaps you should review the Vitamix they say is used by professional kitchens around the world, too. I'm not saying the Costco unit shouldn't be professional quality, especially for the price. What I will say is I've used my 30 year old Vitamix for over ten years and it's been great.

  • @JoesPhenomenal

    Heya Tom. Thanks for your thoughts! Always appreciated. I'll agree with you on several things in retrospect. That wobble turned out to be a non issue as far as safety and function go. I was just more of a fan of the locking type mechanisms. On the jerky dial and the weird speed inconsistencies, it talking with a few Vitamix owners, it seems to be limited to just the Explorian e320, and then only a few of those and not the whole line, so it must have been some kind of manufacuring hiccup that they had a while back. Some of the other criticisms I had were a little biased, but not because I was really searching for reasons to criticize it, but more because we have to factor in the reputation and price of Vitamix against their feature set... not to mention the fact that we've used several of their blenders in the past and they have all been pretty amazing before. Maybe that's not super fair to them, but when you're the best weird problems are a little more shocking and unexpected.

    Great review. I suspect the large skirt on the personal cup base was made large enough to contain the mess if the cup ever came loose during blending. They should have made this base to accept a lid so you could clean it as easily as the main carafe with water and a drop of detergent. The double-wall on the personal cup might become problematic if a leak ever develops. I've had this occur many times over the years in similar products. I had to bore a couple holes thru the outer wall only to allow rinse and dry of this "sealed" area.

    I always thought that feature for feature, Blendtec was better than Vitamix.. It's an easier comparison since they're both premium priced. The Ninja stuff, I really like though.. I've not had too many issues with them over the years... One thing I've learned though is that with the Ninjas at least, I only hand wash them. I feel like even though they say they're dishwasher safe, that maybe the hot water in there can mess them up... Had an old ninja food processor that unused to wash in there, and the pitcher got cloudy pretty quick and developed cracks around the base where the blade attaches on the bottom around the screw holes. Since I started hand washing after that incident, I've never had that problem again... So maybe there's something to that.

Sure others has glass which I prefer but to see this appliance liquidify contents against other blenders is impressive and for those who have trouble swallowing due to obstruction in the throat or esophagus this might offer much comfort. I watched the crushing of ice demo comparing it to other blenders and Vitamix won out hands down. It also won out when blending chunks, others did a good job but Vitamix did it better. There are some good blenders on the market at an affordable price that perform well but if you want a workhorse then Vitamix is an excellent choice.

    Hello. Your review is excellent. I was looking at this blender on the Costco site, so I searched for KZread reviews. I have the Vitamix Pro 750, which is a quieter build. But, after the 7 year warranty expires, and if anything goes wrong with the 750, I was wondering which model to get. After seeing your review, I will not be getting the Explorian. Too loud, for one thing, and also that cheap quality of the underside tabs and speed control knob. I noticed my Pro 750 was making a bit of an electrical smell, so I contacted Vitamix. They sent out a new container. But the noise it makes is substantially louder than the other container. I've made a video and sent it to Vitamix, showing the difference. As for other blenders that are cheaper and very reliable, do you have any recommendations? I've seen reviews for Blendtec and Breville, but they don't seem as good as Vitamix reviews. Thanks so much!

    Heya, Sashine! Thanks for the nice comments. I've always been a fan of Blendtec (and Vitamix as well). Blendtec's usually come in a little cheaper than Vitamix, and they also tend to have more cool home kitchen type of features. I've always thought that VItamix was a little dated in theire styling and features. They're pretty bomb proof, like the Vitamix blenders, too. As far as inexpensive blenders go, We use a Ninja Foodi here at the channel, and I really don't have too many complaints about it. I don't expect it to last as long as those high end brands, but I could buy 3 or 4 of them before the cost catches up, and luckily we haven't had any problems thus yet with reliability. So that's always an option. I do like that Blendtec is built in the USA, like Vitamix however... I like that a lot. You gotta be careful with reviews.. Everyone has Biases... Even I do, even though I try really hard to keep that out of it... Still, it's always best to get a wide range of opinions.

    @@JoesPhenomenal Hi, thanks for your message. I live in Canada, and I've noticed that our Costcos here no longer have Blendtec blenders online. When they did have them, they were getting mediocre reviews. Vitamix always did well with their reviews. I sent a video to Vitamix comparing my older 64 ounce low container with the new one that they sent. The noise difference is quite substantial, and I can't go over speed 5 on the new container because the sound level is unreal. They wrote back to say it's normal. Normal? Why is it so much louder than the other one? It's not much different than the Explorian when I use the new jug. Anyway, I will not be a repeat customer of Vitamix, so maybe I'll try the Ninja when the time comes. Or possibly a KitchenAid blender. Speaking of KA, have you used one of their 1.3 HP DC motor 7 or 8 quart stand mixers? I'm thinking of that when it comes time to replace my trusty 1989 ProLine. Very valid argument! Ninja blenders definitely aren't as durable as vitamix ones. Vitamix uses all metal construction. In their drive mechanisms, so they are built to last those 7 years that the warranty covers. Also, I've seen that cracking on the ninja pitchers... They do a lot better if they are hand washed though... They don't handle heat well which is why you have to get certain models if you want to use hot liquid. If I remember right, Vitamix blenders do hot/cold on their entire line. That being said, my. Ninja equipment has all lasted me pretty well, but I really baby my equipment, and I end up buying new stuff every few years just because I like updating kitchen gadgets a lot... Did have a vitamix for a few years though and it was awesome... It was one of the higher end ones and did everything fantastic though.

    Joe, your comment of low speed performance on this blender is not correct. Many blenders use inertial speed control. With no load the motor overspeeds and shuts itself off in a repeating cycle. Under load (contents in blender) the speed is steady & correct for dial setting. Even with very thick contents the motor will vary the power to operate at correct speed. I agree on cup adapter. The problem with the cup shape is corrected by starting on LOW to break up larger or frozen contents. Even with rough contents higher than speed 5 need not be used.

    Heya Anna. Thanks for watching! You're right. In that video I was definitely nit picky. The reason for that is Vitamix is the king of blenders. They have history of great products. With that also comes really high prices as well, however. Vitamix released the e320 to try to compete in the more economical markets. The managed to get the blender down under $500, but it had to come at a cost to do so, evidently. The problem is that at the end of the day, it's still 3 to 4 times more expensive than everyone else in that segment. If they had released something for around $200 bucks or so, I would have likely been happy with it even with a few flaws since they would have to make some deeper cuts to get there. At that price though, it just makes it look sloppy (that's just my opinion though). I still think they are an amazing company, but that particular model just didn't sit right with me for that price since it's still higher than most people would be able to afford.

    @@JoesPhenomenal I have had the 5200 for 10 years(still works) . Just bought this one and hope it lasts just as long. Even with the minor design flaws you mentioned it is a much better blender than anything on the market. Not to mention their customer service is impeccable. Which is a huge plus in my book. 5200 bought at Costco but this one I bought directly from vitamix during their huge sale (50%off) just an FYI as far as cleaning it not as difficult as you made it seem and screwing on the bottle isn't that hard either. And as far as volume, blender bottles are only 20oz unless you fill to the very top then maybe 24 I agree it's expensive but your getting a product with a 7 year warranty and excellent customer service. Those cheaper blenders may not have that. NINJA only has a 2 year limited warranty. No contest in that department

    @anneleblanc1661 yep... All valid points. That's why in all my more recent stuff, I always tell people to check ou several different opinions before they buy stuff since different people are going to have different priorities, etc. I did mention that fantastic warranty that Vitamix offers in the video (which even includes 2 way shipping). I couldn't really put as much emphasis on it though, since personally, I've never had a warranty issue with any kitchen equipment other than the ice maker on my Samsung refrigerator, so it's hard for me to ding anyone for short warranties.... Definetly gives you a great sense of security though, especially when laying down a lot of dough.

    It does.. I think I was a little overly negative on that due to the fact that I expect a lot more out of Vitamix. So that might be a little unfair in a lot of ways, because I graded them a lot against their existing reputation... When you're the biggest and baddest, you always have to bring the "A" game. Like I said in the comments before, I also think I might have received a bad blender on top of that. Other people aren't experiencing the problems with the dial that I did... so maybe something that slipped through QC.

    Dude, in all honesty, you're bashing this blender wayyyy to harsh! Its a GREAT blender and it has the same motor as the more expensive ones. Vitamix has killer motors and warranties which is what you are paying for. I bought this for my mom and she will NEVER use another blender brand again. The noise is on par with the other, this isn't a barbie playhouse blender, this is a commercial grade unit, silence is NOT the focus, longevity and performance is! The dial is not as bad as you claim, the others are a bit more firm but its not "cheap!" The only thing i agree with you on the negative is the personal blender cup which is a strange, awkward design but it works 1000 times better than the Ninja, Nutribullet, or other brands! I got it around Xmas time for $270 at Costco a few years ago and there is no blender out there than can handle my ice cream/nut butter makings better than Vitamix!

  • @JoesPhenomenal

    @JoesPhenomenal

    Heya, Rufus. Yeah, I think your right. I was overly harsh because I was probably expecting a little too much as our last Vitamix was around $800 15 years back. It's definitely is a good machine, and like I mentioned in the pinned comment, it looks like I probably ended up with a unit that had a few QC issues. They have bomb proof motors, and the warranty is the best I've ever seen (which even includes 2 way shipping). I do feel like Vitamix needs to start innovating a little more though. Their closest rival, Blendtec, offers models at similar price ranges that include a lot more modern features. The Explorian we tested was pretty much exactly the same as our model from a decade and a half ago from an aesthetics and feature set, and that makes the design feel a little tired and dated. I know that has worked for them for a very long time, and the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind, but I also feel like the competition is a lot closer than it used to be, as well, and sitting on the lead can cost one the game. Just my 2 cents, anyway. I'm probably wrong. One interesting thing worth noting is that Costco just dropped the price on these down to $299. Now... at THAT price, I think it's a whole different ballgame. Hopefully they can keep it at the price for a while, because it's a steal at that! Anyway, thanks for you insights! All true and valid points!

    I am glad in the newer setup Costco offers, that large pointless bowl for the cuts isn't there, but the color choices kind of suck. You only get Grey/black or black are your only options. No white or red which I'd have chose either of those colors over the grey/black options. I just bought the A2300 version which seems like a nice one. Costco has it for $520 bucks but it seems like only an online option. It does save $130 bucks off the original price, which is why I went for it. I was going to just get the machine and work my way up on the accessories as time allotted for good deals. I was going to wait it out till the next B-Friday for deals. I don't really get why the accessories some are more expensive than a brand new Ninja blender or a NutriBullet. I get the slogan you get what you pay for, but dam I agree with you, some of this crap is just way over priced like the the blender containers and the metal one that is upward towards $200 bucks which is absolutely ridiculous. Good video.

  • @JoesPhenomenal

    @JoesPhenomenal

    Your A2300 is way better than the Explorian, IMO, so I think you did good. Vitamix does have that amazing warranty, but I feel like that gets built right into the price. They're good blenders, but I have always felt that a lot of the cost with them and All-Clad is more a labor cost issue than a quality issue. The motor is the most expensive part, and made in bulk you wouldn't think that part could cost them more than maybe $100/per if that.

    @@JoesPhenomenal oh, wow that’s insane. Yes I honestly don’t get the huge jumps in price? To add programming to the device probably cost them very little especially when you do it all in quality. Getting parts machined isn’t cheap, but if your doing many of them say millions vs a few hundred. The cost per unit is going to be far less. You once you make the parts in Solid Works and do all the finishing settings on the CNC machines and they are banging a few very quickly it keeps costs down. I think your right I am going to love the new machine. Thank you for the insight. I have a degree in Machine Tool. 🙂
