I'm just concerned that Matt Tytel might have shot himself in the foot being too generous. I mean, there's a LOT you can do with the free version. He really deserves to be paid for this incredible instrument. I know enough about the VST community to know that almost everyone will just scoop up the freeware and only a small percentage of users will actually purchase the pro version. As soon as I get paid I'm paying for the full version because he deserves support. But I'm worried that most people won't be as understanding.

@meowington meowsworth I disagree. I realized i had a lot of the same tools in another skin. Say 4 different types of vintage compressors with the same knobs but slightly different algorithms. I'm just not that good yet to tell the difference in the mix and one probably could use either for the same bottom line result. So instead of constantly thinking about what tool to use I want to focus more on how to use them until I have the confidence and experience to use the full potential of all the tools. In fact I feel like an over abundance of possibilites limits ones creative potential if not approached with a considerate amount of expertise.

Some Facts: Serum's Noise OSC is a looped sampler (you can drop there any stuff, and of course you can use it as modulator) _ Serum has own random generator that calls "Chaos" in general settings are knobs for control amount of random. (you can use it. Just click R mouse button on knob that you like and chose "Chaos", then you can set amount of modulation in the matrix) _ Serum has powerful resampling features. You really can resample any stuff in serum and create your own Wavetable entirely in serum. (in serum's menu are buttons Resample A -> B, Resample B -> A, Resample (stereo) A B. Yes. You can create stereo wavetable where A and B oscs are L and R channels. Actually you can make it in one Osc with half of both Wavetables by using some special settings) _ Serum has three filters. First is at main screen, second is FX in FX page (this one replica of first, but without graphic), third filter is at Distortion FX.

This guy knocked the nail on the head at the end of the video. I found the the presentation this video amongst the best of seen about this plug-in. No endless preset auditioning. Very refreshing indeed. A bit too much rambling and going on at the beginning for the first 5 minutes. This could be cut down to about 30 seconds. So to the guy why the did this video. Bear this in mind because rambling on for 5 minutes bores the the viewer watching this video to tears. Cut the rambling down and just get straight on with the video please. Other than that great video. Precise told the View exactly what the synthesizer is capable of. Looks like we've got a little sound designer happening here. I just wish they had all these features on a plug-in called voltage modular. That's another awesome plug-in the people should look at. Voltage modular by cherry audio is awesome. If they had wavetable modules in that then that will be killing this hands down. Check voltage modular out people it's great. Thank you for uploading this video. Pure.

And you've got a good voice and delivery for this sort of thing. Seems like a really cool synth, especially for $80. It's awesome that it does MPE, especially since Live 11 is going to support it (and I just ordered a Hydrasynth). PhasePlant is a great synth when messing around in dedicated sound design sessions. I find that it can sometimes feel like it takes too long to get a ball rolling when trying to work with it inside of a project, especially with how the default preset is fairly empty. Vital has a great last-minute/in-project workflow to it that will definitely prop it up above PhasePlant in that context. Then again, you can actually set a certain sound to become the default preset in PhasePlant, like the way you can set up fabfilter plugins to have a custom default preset. Either way, Vital is a GREAT synth to use in the meantime if you're not considering getting the Kilohearts subscription.

I and others are not able to use the VST as it requires you to sign in, but for me it freezes there. Occasionally it will say something went wrong, but normally it just sits there, attempting to sign in. You can bypass the sign-in screen by clicking off of it to use the plugin, but good luck, as the only available wavetable is the default saw wave. No other wavetables are accessible. The developer has acknowledged this in the forum, but as of today (12/6) has no solution, or even any ideas as to why it is happening. I downloaded the free version and assumed maybe the dev was just being clever, but people that bought the full version are essentially unable to use this plugin. Your mileage may vary. Unfortunately I have to stick with Serum :(

Installed the free version. Happy to discover another sympathic CPU hitting hard wavetable synth as soon as you expect deeper sounddesign... And so go both Serum & Phaseplant, the 2 names on every mouths throughout the community. Vst synths industry can be a deep trap !.. I still use Massive and still find it impressive ! Thorn is a wonder with its 2seqs+spectral filter+3Osc with wavetable editors+noise Osc. sampler. Synthmaster2 is full of possibilities and Icarus2 is a monster wavetable workstation...and these guys stay pretty respectful with your CPU and misestimated by vst-heads ! Vital is a potential new challenger but let's let the baby grow in dev. and postion8 on the CPU war, cause except if you've chance to own a NASA like computer under the desk, '20's laptop music is effectively still in a CPU war ! ;))

It's an interesting dynamic how things become more cpu intensive in the future but tech also evolves. People who are using the older machines are definitely the ones who hurt the most from it.
