One of the great things about an extremely prevalent aesthetic is seeing the outsider art that gets created as a result of the former's existence. You don't get Monet without Delacroix preceding him

I really don't think rediscovering "ex nihilo nihil fit" is "the most basic stream of thought" by any reasonable definition.
