Hi Brian, I am just getting into your channel. I'm actually binge watching your channel and will be looking into Cosmo more soon. I have been looking to get back to my roughing it roots by going camping in a teardrop camper. I grew up horse camping in the back country with my dad every summer. Since he got older and has now passed away we have not been packing in the back country in quite some time. I really miss it but don't have the ability to have horses and mules. So, I am looking to add to my collection a teardrop trailer that I can eventually gift to one of my kids. We plan to retire and tour in the 5th wheel but for now we are going to try to spend as much time as we can taking weekend trips and short visits to places I wouldn't dream of taking the 5th wheel; of course when I'm not teaching or coaching. So we are looking at something from Braxton Creek. I just recently posted a couple of video reviews at dealerships with Braxton creek products for sale. After looking at many of the more expensive ones I think I am ready to settle on something I can modify and use frequently so we are thinking about a Free Solo FLAV. You offer great insights on this company on your channel and I really appreciate that. I'll be posting more comments as I scroll through your list of videos over the next week or two. But I just wanted to introduce myself and thank you for the videos and what you offer on KZread. Please feel free to check out my channel as well. Here's a link to the FLAV in case you wanted to check it out: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o2yet7J_d9vYiso.html Thanks again and all the best, Pat

He doesn't used bug spray? ... in Vietnam 1970, they issued us with these small while bottles of bug repellent, it even worked keeping leaches off us when sleeping... many people probably remember seeing guys wearing helmets (Steel Pots...we didn't-"Strike Force", 101st we wore soft caps) with thise bottles in the band, in magazine photos. When I got back state side at the hospital, which was located on a lake, so there were Mosquitoes it seemed everywhere ... I asked the supply Sgt if he had any of those bottles i could get??? He said; "Are you crazy, that stuff is illegal in the USA, seems it was DDT.... but it was OK for combat solders to rub it all over our faces and hands... everywhere??? ... along with Agent Orange, Dioxin .... in our water and LURPS (Freeze dried meals) ... it so saddens me, here I'm watch this great bit about "Vistabule" brand... and the memories of 50 years ago come back to haunt me like it was only yesterday.

Thank you for your service! My uncle used the talk about the these things, he did 4 tours. He talked a lot about the water treatment and how they would put so much iodine in their water it made them sick. Of course if they didn’t, it made them even more sick. The defoliants as well.. He did end up passing from brain cancer. I hope you’re able to get outdoors stateside and enjoy these cushy ways to do it. Thanks for swinging by.

  • @airbrushken5339

@@DIYOutdoorLife Yup the iodine was a must... we even tried "kool aid" sent from home to help kill the taste ... still tasted nasty! Try adding it to LURPS, (dehydrated food)... My team (2/502 Inf, 101st Airborne) spent 330 days in the jungle out of 365 in the North of the country mostly in the "A Shau Valley" ("Hamburger Hill movie) west of the city of Huế, along the border of Laos. I now suffer from several Dioxin poisoning (Agent Orange) health issues, though I've been lucky as ALL of my closest friends are dead ... seven here in Australia. My wife and I were planning on going to the States and getting a Vistabule ... pre-order it and after 6 weeks dive it to CAL, ship it with the truck back down under. I have a hot Rod nut cousin who could add a new 350 V8 and and independent rear diff. As I'm owed several thousand from the VA for my Cancer treatments, it's be money well spent.. Obama put in a program to reimburse Veterans in countries over seas. We have free health care in Australia, but with Covid, my GP got me straight into a private cancer clinic and they got it early ... We thought we deserved a trip around my old homeland, so a rebuilt side step 60's Chevy Pickup would be great... as my tow vehicle ... I spent 9 years Army before I left for that great southern land... along with over 60,000 US citizens...LOL Thank you so very much for your kind words and thoughts.I am sorry about your Uncle, four tours... wow. All my friends died directly from cancers and 3 took their own lives after they found out they were dying. Few Americans or Australian realize OVER 300,000 Returned Veterans died from Dioxin related health issues AFTER coming home. It feels as though no one cares. >>You have a great site and I keep downloading everything and subscribed. Loved the battery and solar bits as I am trying to enlarge what I have. Also purchased a tend LPG heater and plan on mounting it outside like the Diesel unit your friend had. You will find most Combat Veterans don't speak of the actual combat, just about leaches, snakes, food and sometimes funny bits. Talk if actual combat is heart breaking and most non-combatants wouldn't truly understand. Feel free to delete this post as it was a personal reply to you and your thoughtful post. (I TRULY MEAN THAT, AS IT WON'T HURT MY FEELING MATE). Be safe and keep up the good work. I'm glad your Uncle was able to tell you a bit about that time. I'm 73' and have never told my sons or father what I did to protect my team and myself. War is truly HELL.

@@airbrushken5339 I will keep the post up, do you never know what will help someone. You are absolutely right about the stories, I only heard about where he’d go on leave and things about, as you said, leeches, snakes, and weather. What you said really cracked me up, I couldn’t believe it! One of his funniest stories was about sending a letter home to his wife to please mail Kool-Aid. He needed a ton and would share with friends. She mailed 200 lime Kool-Aid packets!! He couldn’t go near that smell or taste for the rest of his life. Thank you again for everything and please keep me updated on your build.
