Visiting USSR’s largest nuclear test site
'What to do in case of a nuclear strike?' This is not a hypothetical question for those who lived near The Polygon. A former nuclear test site in Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan, is one of the most nuked areas on our planet. 456 nuclear explosions were carried out in this place during the Soviet era, leaving a massive scar on a chunk of land the size of New Jersey. The Atomic lake, “radioactive gardens", children born with severe disabilities… Check out this episode if you want to see what a post-apocalypse world might look like.

The name "Real Reporter" is well-deserved. These short documentaries are more real, and far more interesting, than anything I've seen on TV in a long time.

Your entire channel is brilliant. Hope you are staying safe

I'm in my 40's & I am old enough to remember the Cold War. It was so scary that I could not even attempt to explain it to kids today. The biggest question we all had in America: "Aren't The Russian People Terrified of Nuclear War?" This is exactly why I feel like Your Channel is so important !! We need to come together and have as much dialogue as possible between our Countries & Share information, so we can learn more about our Two Cultures ! 🇺🇲 + 🇷🇺 = ❤

Exactly! I feel the same way, and I'm glad you've brought this up with your thoughtful comment. Visiting these Cold War sites, one thing became clear: dying in a nuclear Armageddon over some political games just isn't worth it

Why didn't you question your US government about Dropship Plan they prepared as early as in 1949? Dropshot included mission profiles that would have used 300 nuclear bombs and 29,000 high-explosive bombs on 200 targets in 100 cities and towns to wipe out 85 percent of the Soviet Union's industrial potential at a single stroke. Aren't US people terrified of nuclear war? I guess they are ok with it as long as US is nuclear monopolist. Japanese know it very well.
