Huddersfield's stadium is bordering on iconic. They thought out of the box and avoided the 'done to death' goldfish bowl stadium. It's certainly not ugly.

100% agree, even more so as a Brighton fan,as the basis of the design of the Amex was based on Huddersfield, and having visted Huddersfield,I would say it is one of my favourite grounds that I have visted.Weird though there were no southern grounds in it,Sutton would be a contender, although to be fair,I am one that always enjoys visting any ground and always thinks that any quirky bits etc add to the character.

The John Smith's stadium won the prestigious RIBA building of the year when opened, voted for by all the top British architects. As far as I'm aware it's the only stadium to win the award. Bolton, Brighton and many other stadiums around the world have since used its blueprint. TalkShite by name, TalkShite by nature.

"Little" Huddersfield's ground was designed by HOK |(now Populous) a USA based multi national architectural practice with it's European Headquarters in London. It was built by Sir Alfred McAlpine and the basic arch design was later adopted by many clubs - and was also the inspiration for the Wembley Arch, often credited to Norman Foster, and as said below, also the Sydney Olympics. It was the first of it's type and won an RIBA award when first built. Bolton used the same Architects and it was built by Birse Construction.

I find the "ugly" stadiums more charming. They're most likely out of date, and have a unique feel. Even if they can't stay up and get relegated after this season, seeing Luton Town in the Premier League is fun. Just seeing all of the Prem. mainstays playing at the Kenny is cool for a year.

The villa bought all the terraced houses to extend the now called Doug Ellis stand previously known as the Witton lane. However they made sure people were re homed and the street was cleaned up as well as sports facilities for the locals kids to use. Some of the terrace house still exist and I believe everyone was happy with how Aston Villa went about this redevelopment. They do plough a lot of money into the area they exist on.

My uncle before he passed away went to the Barcelona derby (Barcelona V Espanyol) at Espanyols stadium. He bought a box for the game and had a great time. Then for his final ever football game he went too Boundary Park (he’s from Oldham) and he also had a box there and according too him the boxes at Boundary Park were better than the boxes at the RCDE Stadium. You’ll never sing that

As a southerner, this TalkSport list seems to have a northern bias. Huddersfield and Chester should be nowhere near the top of their list. Perhaps they have not been to Luton! As for lowest ground in the counry, Canvey Island FC is actually below sea level.

4:57 my uncle actually lives there or near to it anyway, he goes and watches the Latics every so often, I think you may have just offended him lol. Anyway, as someone who is originally from Oldham, cheers for saying something positive about my hometown club! The stadium recently got a new pitch and the Joe Royle stand has been refurbished all thanks to our chairman Frank's investments and from next year it will also see the Roughyeds, our rugby league club, return for the first time in 15 years. Keep the Faith and up the Yeds! Much love :)

UTA Arad's stadium in Romania is a mini Huddersfield one (13000 seats) , but for us in Romania it's fine, given that we've started to have five star Uefa stadiums (plural) only since around 2010. Though compared to the other 11 five star stadiums it might be the worst.

What would you do to it though that would improve it in any meaningful way? Rotting wooden doors and window frames that look like an ancient potting shed as well as ancient bricks that wouldn’t look out of place in the 1930’s. It needs knocking down by the looks of it.

@@user-cy5lz2mi5j You can buy terraced housing and knock it down. That’s what Blackburn had to do for their new stadium when they were building the new one to win the Premier League in. The house owners got decent money and the new stadium was built, although I do accept it would be hard for smaller clubs to do that.

7000 attendance in fifth tier seems great. For another video idea, you could go to other teams at lower levels with high attendance. That might be fun to see the highest attendance teams in the national league, for example.

Huddersfield's stadium won awards when it was built. I have visited the Deva isn't a bad stadium. it's a standard built stadium for a low league (in this instance tier 6) club. Grimsby have for a long time talked about building a new stadium, I am guessing that the council have more important financial issues to deal with at this moment.
