Visiting the Tulum Ruins and Cenotes | Cruising to Cozumel on Celebrity Summit

Today we are in Cozumel, Mexico! A popular port for most cruise lines in the western Caribbean and I can see why. There is so much to do and see! Whether you are going to the beach for a relaxing day or going on excursions to experience the beauty and history of this fascinating region. We chose the latter. We were super excited to book these tours through Celebrity cruises and get to see some of Mayan history. What we did not account for was the amount of time you actually get in these places. These tours are run on a tight schedule and there is no real time to stop and enjoy the moment. Its all go-go-go! We also did not expect a tropical storm to be in the area. Making the weather not so perfect. But even still, we had a great time and happy we got to go.

What type of recording device did you use? Do they allow you to strap a go pro on your chest or forehead? Do they supply you with snorkel masks, or did you bring your own? Excellent video!

Thanks for watching! This was shot with a mixture of my Gopro 7 and her phone in a waterproof case. And yes, you can mount it wherever you want. They really didn't care. No snorkel masks were used in the Cenotes. I don't know if you can bring one but they didn't offer any. Not for us at least.

It’s best to just show up and tag along with a tour, when you want to linger, break away and tag along with another tour when it comes by. Get the guide to explain the niches in the wall of El Castillo. You will be blown away.

Is there somewhere to store you bag when you go swimming? Just planning our trip and trying to think about what we need at port and what we don't.

For the tour we took, we were told we could leave our belongings on the tour bus. And the driver stayed with the bus. I wouldn't leave anything valuable on there but we did leave a backpack with a change of clothes. Keep your cruise card with you just in case. there are tables at the cenote to put towels and stuff on. but no lockers that I saw. At the time, it was just our group doing this tour so there wasn't a lot of people wandering around.

We are planning to book this excursion for our up coming cruise and this was very helpful to see what to expect. We were curious however about lunch or food options when we found no mention on the excursion description. Did you have a lunch stop or lunch provided? Do you have any other helpful tips for this specific excursion? Thanks!

Oh, I am so sorry I forgot to mention that. They provided a brown bag lunch. Essentially, it is a small sandwich, some chips, a granola bar, and a bottle of water. I would definitely make sure to have a good breakfast before leaving the ship. The whole day is rushed, and there is little time to find something while you're out. You may get lucky at the end of the excursion to find something at the port, but it will be expensive. Thanks for watching!

We went to the mayan ruins, tequila tasting then cooking class. LOVED it but we couldn't shop because there was no time. I am a childcare worker who specifically booked the ship for the "adult only" solarium pool but everyday we went kids were swimming and yelling. Not relaxing and there would be gobs of hair everywhere. We had the classic drink package (200 extra per day) and the servers tried to upsell us the premium package. We spent 150 at LePetit the food was subpar. Cosmopolitan had awesome food but they would poor us wine then comeback and say that it's not covered in our package. I will never go on this cruise line again.

I am sorry you had a bad experience on the Summit. What's the best ship you've been on? We have only been on 3 so I like to get an idea of what else is out there.

@Simplified Travels This was my first cruise. My partner has been on many. The others have better everything (inclusive restaurants, shopping, activities etc) except rooms and personal space. We both were impressed by our room, and the casino. It was just the right size, very clean and fun. We liked the skylounge too. For me the upselling and pool drama was stressful. If I ever do a cruise again it will be with virgin.
