Don’t get me wrong, we still grew up in this environment but it was from a distance and it was during a time big homies were fully grown men with life experience. We need both sides. Because it’s people who sit behind computers in the suburbs who act like this is a game and this is entertainment to them. So if we shed light on these environments more people can see it as wrong instead of entertainment and maybe potentially put more resources into these neighborhoods so that the cycle can die down. I’m from detroit. Detroit is the largest city in Michigan but suburb schools are funded more. You can’t even bring home books from school and they expect people to take their study’s seriously when you can’t even read out of a textbook at home. Shit like that matters to what goes on in the hood. But people who aren’t close to the hood won’t even know that and would just think people just wanna do bad. When In reality everyone just wants to take care of the people they care about even if they go about it in the wrong way.

I appreciate the fact you did this. I'm a white dude who grew up in the 5th Ward in Houston and I really hate the way this usually gets portrayed in the news. These are human beings, and people I can relate to. Reminds me of my childhood friend Desmond. He got roped up in some shit and I was sent off to live with my dad in the DFW area. I went from being surrounded by people who are products of their environment in the sense they had to adjust to the circumstances, to people who were products of ignorance. A lot of America sees this and thinks they're just stereotypes. But they're people. Doing things you'd all be doing if your circumstances force that to happen. I was fortunate and had a network to take me in when my mom had enough of her child being inner city Houston. These fellas aint got that. The legal, education and infrastructure system doesnt love them. Suburban america forgets how rough America used to be, and for these dudes it never changed. They dont make excuses about it either. I dont like it. But i understand and respect the fact they at least want out.

@SpectralOoze
Жыл бұрын
@@allaboutthemurzic I didn't say anything about safe, that concept is arbitrary. My GFS autistic cousin thinks everything outside their door is unsafe. The difference is suburbs have resources the hood doesn't. "Rough" means you're in an area that doesn't provide the necessities for civilized life compared to it's other surrounding areas. Suburbs have well funded schools, job opportunities, amenities from local parks and community centers like libraries and event venues. I live in a nice apartment and an ex cop had a gun fight in our breezeway with other police on Christmas morning. That isn't news to me, but I get your point. But it's disingenuous to pretend like the vast majority of the population south of Chicago is at risk for being killed or harmed. Tommy we respect you for going into these hoods… documenting raw footage. Your channel is authentic
You can tell they respect you by the fact they were willing to give you a gun. Shows a lot of trust for someone to do that especially in the hood.

I happened to stumble across this video and was thinking “maybe it’s Stl” wasn’t disappointed 😂😂. Love my city!
That one guy with the bag just going ahhhh!
I went to a youth group, mission trip to St Louis. Honestly it was a great experience. We even went door to door in the hood, and just let people know we were doing activities at the local park, A BUNCH of people turned up. We all played football together. A bunch of younger on the playground. Old black lady cooked for us after we all helped in her community garden, we ate pig snout! She wouldnt tell us untill we ate, it was just extra tough bacon really. Man really bringing back memories with this one Tommy. In retrospect, a few of the dudes chilling on the side were def strapped! Cant believe church took us, but it was awesome.

I'm 87 born but 90s raised me .. coming up in my generation, we came up wit start of internet as we know it ..dial up AOL and all that shit .. til myspace and social media got big .. every single trend that you'd see around the country ALL started in one of the hoods somewhere in NYC, Cali, Miami or a few other cities .. like ATL an southern citices after social media blew up ... Now with social media ... All the trends still start in hoods across America, eventually spread to suburbs bordering the hood Nd then far into the counties etc ... American hood culture is talked about so straig up negatively by media but the US hood culture and Trends is one of the biggest and most valuable exports ... And none of the kids who start these trends get 0 profit out of it ...

As a single female doordasher/uber eats driver, I have never had a problem in our city. Even in Mark Twain, even on Ruskin. These guys are right, we need more jobs, and we need affordable vocational schools. They do have some talent and I'm hoping they do make it. I saw them filming a video this past summer and had 50-100 people hanging out watching them. They're lucky they have talent and drive. I hope they all survive.

@Dr Dumbo There is safety in numbers. I have no problem dashing by myself, but when I run into other dashers there are usually two or more riding around. Being by myself makes me an easy target for crime if it were to happen, being a solo female driver in a city with one of the highest rates of violent crime, murder, and carjacking is taking a risk. I love the city, and I meet good people everywhere I go, but when my card gets pulled that's it. Thankfully, I've had nothing but kindness on the streets from all kinds of people.
@Callie83

@Fat Mac You are so correct. I meet some of the best people out on the streets in St. Louis. The diversity is there, but the opportunities are not a given. We have kids from out of state that pay just under $50,000 a year for SLU, just under $60,000 for WASH U, before room and board, but kids that grew up on these streets don't have the same opportunity. Income inequality will always be the bigest disadvantage to overcome. We need to support our communities and have more positive role models. This all starts at home, on these streets, with kids like these. Their confidence and talent are amazing, and I sincerely hope to run across one of them in one of those big fancy houses one day. Prayers for the city indeed.
Classy bunch of fellows
They have really good music ngl
Man very inspirational grateful you're trying to help the kids because they are the future and the love you give you can tell the kids feel that and I think positive energy like this has a major effect on them. We could all learn to give kindness to those that have been hurt. Love you work g from New Zealand 🙏
