Visiting the Magic Boulder In Kerbal Space Program

Ойындар

The hardest easter egg to find right now is orbiting Duna's moon Ike in a 15km Polar Orbit, finding it takes a lot of patience and the ability to rendezvous without the map.
Also, it will blow you out of the sky if you get too close.

    +Eileen Blurrr you have it backwards, The ore is usually black on an industrial scale (although small stones may have green or yellow crystals) and yellowcake (enriched uranium, 95% weapons grade or better.) is, as the name implies, yellow.

  • @jackdaniels4975

    @jackdaniels4975

    Marshall Perry I mean yellow cake isn't actually weapons grade uranium, yellow cake had to be refined again into a black rod of uranium, which was uranium 235, to be used for weapons. So black>yellow>black Yellowcake was used as coloring for the general populace actually, but this all happened 50 years ago, uranium isn't even used anymore for weapons like bombs.

    4:50 Geologist (A-Level) here :D : Possibly mineral veins; you can get green varieties of fluorite, or 'Blue John' as it's sometimes called, and as this mineral fluoresces under UV light, it may well be the case that Kerbol is giving off UV just like our Sun, and the fluorite is, well, fluorescing... BUT, this is a game, and the devs most likely thought it looked cool :P

    Radium emits alpha particles which can excite fluorescent materials. In Marie Curie's time, that would have been aluminium and/or copper doped zinc sulfide. In fact I have one of those watch hands and the radiation has diminished substantially, so now you can see single alpha particles tearing their way through the paint and causing tiny green sparks. As for naturally occurring ores, autunite and uranocircite are fluorescent uranium ores. They do not glow by themselves, but when exposed to UV light, they emit the notorious poison-green light.

    I docked an ssto on a magic boulder before, it glowed yellow, since I had full coverage of internet throughout the solar system, I could dock the modified ssto on the asteroid as it was flying out back into interplanetary space, it’s trajectory was cycling between Kerbin and Duna, so I rode the asteroid out to Duna orbit and Duna got close so I unhitched the ssto but kept the probe attached and I saved a shit ton of Detla V, I only had to spend 200 m/s by then because most of the ride was by asteroid, soon after I caught another asteroid as it is heading directly into kerbin, I met the asteroid at 1500km above the surface, opened the claw at 1100km (I was heading straight towards kerbin like the astrroid, very very fast), docked with it at 200km while freaking out, this asteroid was glowing purple, I pointed radial in as I was entering the atmosphere using the boulder as a heat shield and then when I got slow enough, I deployed all eight of my parachutes and landed it.

    (continuation) has changed, meaning that as interpreted in 3D space, the light has bent around the gravity of an object. In more severe cases, such as a black hole, light is bent so much that it is pulled towards the centre of mass, losing all velocity due to gravity. Also it is extremely accurate to say that the train has turned. Its velocity (direction) has changed. The fact that the tracks exist has no bearing on this, just as a car turns due to the "tracks" of your steering.

    I was trying to get to the Mun, and I was orbiting trying to find a nice landing crater, and I saw what looked like one of my landers from space, but it was my first time going to the Mun. I had already visited the Neil Armstrong Memorial, and it wasn't that. It was white, so it wasn't a monolith. It didn't look like an arch, so now I have to find out what it is, but i landed on the opposite side. It was on a large (And I mean large) crater on the light side of the Mun.

    0.20 fixed the bug with relative velocities not being counted when things collided in space. This caused rover wheels to pop when touching another ship with them in orbit. I think that was the reason why magic boulder couldn't be touched without explosion. Now that is has been fixed, you should try it again and you might even be able to deorbit it. That'd be cool.

    Iridium is almost exclusively found in asteroids and meteorites, this rock appears to have copious amounts of it if not being completely made out of the element and a related matrix. Iridium is normally radioactive, and does glow unlike a similar element Uranium (which is normally a flat light pink color unless enriched.) Uranium also does not give off nearly any radiation unless it's enriched for power or weaponized capabilities

    Gravity can bend light, but it takes an extreme amount to be really noticeable. Light bending around black hole is a pretty common phenomenon.

    Magic boulder seems to be made party of some form of unstable phosphorescent material. If radioactive, then it seems highly likely that this radiation is fueling the phosphorescence. Possibly the magic boulder contained fissile materials very close to critical mass. hence explaining its tendency to explode.

    the glow is quite similar to that of the noble gas, radon. since the temperature must be very close to or exactly absolute zero, it could be radon in superfluid or supersolid form.

    When things glow blue, that is usually because they are emitting particles that are traveling faster than the light around them. This is possible outside of vacuums, and is called chenkonov (correct that spelling) radiation.

  • @ted_b
    @ted_b11 жыл бұрын

    He was talking about Hawking radiation, where high velocity particles (i.e alpha and beta decay) collide with water and air, giving a blue glow.
