Many Time People Dont realize - Where The Dancer IS ? We had once a SERIES on TV - HILL ST BLUES - Where They always STARTED The Show by Saying - BE CAREFUL OUT THERE ! # Slippery Streets - snow on the roofs of buildings - ( has killed several ) - People sleep walking - domestic violence - meeting someone with finished smokes etc etc ! Be Carefull Out There ! Summer IS Back on Six months !

Both the people living there and local government always seem to get surprised when the winter comes, just like it has for thousands of years. There's never enough sand/salt for the icy streets, machinery for collecting snow and places to put the piled up snow in. Same with changing your summer tyres to winter ones. Having originally come from Lapland where most of the time everything works nicely, it really baffles me sometimes.

You went to Kontula and consciously missed the mall area? That's were the danger lives at night, if somewhere.

I've actually lived in both Liipola and Kontula. I wouldn't necessarily move back but you're right, they are not that bad. Maybe a little rough at times but definitely not dangerous.

I loved there for seven years from the ages of born to 7 and I loved it. K market in the mall is the best supermarket!!! Karjalan piirakka is also the best snack on the planet

Kontula is considered dangerous because in Summer there are many drunks and Narcs. You should visit Neighborhoods that have more immigrants, like Havukoski/koivukylä in Vantaa and Varissuo in Turku

I just lived super close to Koivukylä, in Asola, and I for sure like the area, I did all my groceries in Koivukylä, I would absolutely move back there! Before that I was living in Vuosaari, I feel like it is mostly filled with older people, quite calm place. I love Itäkeskus/Itis because of the multicultural feeling there and the shopping center just is super nice. If you visit these areas, don't skip Aurinkolahti and Kallahdenniemi on a sunny day, suuper beautiful! Kontula has been worse maany years ago but it has changed a lot, it is not dangerous anymore.

An interesting exercise, and you met some very decent people there in Kontula. Even the supermarket staff didn't tell you not to film.... ha ha!

The only danger was the slush :D

I live there and have seen violence and police at work. No place is 100% safe. But normally you can avoid confrontations, if you are not involved. I don't see why I should fear anywhere, as long as I behave ok.

You were wrong side in kontula, you were in that side where i lived 30years.. actually i didn't see anything bad there for 28years of my life, just heard things what has happened, but past 2 years some people broke my bubble of the great place. The "bad" people are really hiding and usually nice at the same time. Anyway.. the danger is just a legend now what some people are trying to keep alive. The "bad people" just had got old and grew up and are nicest people nowdays 😊 still there is "bad people". But where is not? The other side of Kontula is just a place where even i didn't never go 😅

Asking the regular people with street smarts is hardly giving good source of information. Crime statistics are better for it. For example if you are asking from random stranger who doesn't spend time outside during night time, then of course he will think that it's a safe place to be. In Finland for decades biker gangs have run the crime circles and they had the policy of not messing with the normal civilians. In other words you only get in trouble if you're voluntarily trying to cause mess in the underworld. So people mostly end up having problems with Druggies. There is also one group of people that Finns generally avoid due to them having very bad reputation. Gypsies are generally avoided by the Finns since their families act like crime syndicates and generally tend to cause some issues such as stabbing and petty criminal acts. Personally I have witnessed brutal bar fights in Kontula. Open death threats between two people with guns and a stabbing victim. Also lot of rape cases I have heard about have happened in Kontula or were related to certain bar within Kontula. Lately there has been increase in violent crime due to youth getting much more violent than they used to be. Government tries to be all hus hus about youth gangs, but it's pretty much common knowledge now that this is becoming similar issue as in Sweden's Malmö. You should've filmed during night time. Even more so talk with people in bars.

You only visited the ”back” of Kontula, Pub Päättäri and Alepa… useless, if your looking for the real action and life. Next time find the Ostari and visit Miami Mopo Bar, Pub Kippari, Pub Paris, Pub 94, London Pub, Oslo Pub and the african night club La Fontana! If you survive all of these, then youve visited Kontula 👍🏼😀 Its a good place to be, you stay alive!

With all the shops, barbers and Halal meat and bars… now its white and snowy here, no loskapaska for a moment at least. Bars open to 00:00. Come visit in the weekend!

You didn't go to the open supermarket area. But the bad wheater keeps some people away. Weekend evening and summer nights. Then it's open drug ussage and- drunks looking for a fight ( they most of the time fight with other drunks). I have lived most of my life at kontula. Love it. But because of the bad reputation, it fuels some people's attitude and behavior. So some people act" this is ok, we are here at kontula". I have seen a needle circle and drinking near the church, outside of the metro and other side of the metro tracks. Some drug users even made art. They stick many needles to a tree. Heroin tree. But! 99% of the time they keep to themselves. So no real danger. Feels dangerous even when witnessing, but it's most of the time only the feel and nothing more. The real danger was in many areas in finland at the 1990-2000 , when the 90's big depression hit. Many people were feeling bad. And that reputation is still with us, even tought its not that anymore. Reputation is hard to change and some people are proud of that reputation.

you need to visit leppävaara, there is some gangs and there is very much drug dealing. And you didn't visit Kontula metro station, there are a lot of drunk people and there are a lot of drugs sold and used

HAha never witnessed violence in kontula xd almost every time im in kontula something has happend one guy punched a grandma and i've seen one stabbing too
