Visiting Edinburgh Castle

Hope you're all doing ok and you enjoy this video about Edinburgh Castle. It dominates the city skyline and is a must-see if you're visiting Edinburgh. A former Royal residence and still a working military base, it's a fascinating place to visit with fantastic views of the city. Don't forget to see Scotland's impressive Crown Jewels, beautiful St Margaret's Chapel built in 1130 and the magnificent Great Hall built by James IV. If you hear a gun going off - don't worry, it's just the One o'Clock Gun which is fired every day, except Sundays. The firing of the gun used to be for sailors in the Port of Leith to set their Chronometers by. Edinburgh Castle can get very busy, so I recommend booking your tickets as early as you can. If you'd like me to show you the rest of the city on a private tour, you can book a tour with me on my website - www.adventuresinscotland.uk

I lived a stone's throw from the castle for a number of years. The view of those magnificent ramparts and the sound of the lone piper playing from them each evening never got old. I can't say the same of the one o'clock gun though! I miss the city, so your video guides give me a nice reminder.

Hi David, So glad to see another video of Edinburgh. I've been to the city seven times and every time I always make the castle of one my first stops. The magnificent edifice that overlooks the city never ceases to to amaze me. How fortunate you are to be able to look up and see those incredible ramparts any time you wish. Thanks so much. Take care and be well.

I was at the Castle today, raining and crowded. Thanks for showing me what was hard to see with the crowds.

Glad you enjoyed it. Sorry about all the rain just now - it's really unseasonal for this time of year. Hope you have a lovely holiday. All the best, David :-)

Really enjoyed your video. I was lucky enough to visit Edinburgh twice from Louisiana USA. And I’d come back at any opportunity. My friends say, “but there are so many more places to explore across the pond”, and I reply that there is only one place that will ever touch my heart like Scotland and Edinburgh.

Great video David and so useful giving the tram information for visitors. It’s a shame the weather was so wet but the shots were beautiful and you’ve inspired us to visit soon 😊

HI David, I loved that you included info about how to get there. Seeing the airport and tram is easying my anxiety. The rain did the opposite. I hope i'll have nicer weather ! thank you for this lovely video, i learned a few helpful tips.

Going to Edinburgh this May with my sisters. Our grandmother was from a Bordertown, Hawick, spending s few days there and 4 in Edinburgh, the rest in London. Have been doing a lot of research on the family….looking forward to seeing the Castle. Nicely done.

Great video! What would your advice be for someone with mobility issues getting around the castle? Can I bring a small motorized scooter in for my senior Mom to get around?
