That’s awesome that you’re getting to go! We didn’t really have an itinerary exactly because we were there for 2 months. We spent most of our time in and around Chiang Mai, we spent a week in Bangkok, a week in Koh Samui, and a few days in Chiang Rai. If you watch the videos in our Thailand Playlist (kzread.info/head/PLe56i8ZhhO6Sf_u0Vzdb92jH5smPxtvvo&si=OhvC0RNBWAPD4xWA) you’ll get a good idea of what all we did in all of those places. If it were me, I would spend 4-5 days each in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and one of the beach destinations in the south. It’s very easy and affordable to fly to most places in Thailand once you’re in country.

Love the ending, very funny! Shame you didn't contact my company (Trunk Travel) as we could have recommended many other (better!) things to do in Bangkok. Lived here 15 years, two children (10 & 5) and our company specialises in ethical, cultural and fun activities in Thailand. Next time, maybe! Good luck and great vid.

We found that the best long term stays (1 week +) were on AirBNB, and the best hotels for 1-7 days were through Agoda.

What time of year was your visit? We are contemplating wet season/august…have done other parts of Asia before

We were there in June, but stayed in Chiang Mai until the end of July. We actually enjoyed the rainy season, and loved the crazy weather.

We decided not to include prices because exchange rates and everything can shift so fast, and so much of the prices are based on bartering. I would suggest reaching out to our drive Wichain to get a price. His contact info is in the description.

That’s great! Wichain can probably tell you better what to see, but personally I would spend one day seeing as much as possible in the city: Wat Pho, Wat Phra Kaew and the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and maybe the King Power Mahanakon. Then on day 2 I’d see something a bit outside of the city like one of the floating markets and maybe the train market (more of a cultural experience), or Ayutthaya (more of a historical experience). Hope you enjoy it! Let me know how it was after you go.

We stayed in an air b&b just down the street from Terminal 21. It was a great place for our family and a fantastic host. We mostly took Grab cars in Thailand, which is like their version of Uber, and rented a car while we were in Chiang Mai. The train in Bangkok is also a viable option, but it won’t get you everywhere you need to go without a good amount of walking. We actually didn’t see a single other person for the 2 months we were in Thailand who had a car seat of any kind at all - it’s just not a thing in their culture. If you want to bring a full car seat, you can, but it’s going to be a strange thing to most drivers. Even our little booster seats for our 4 and 6 year olds raised a bunch of eyebrows and even seemed a little offense to some, like we didn’t trust their driving. For shorter trips we ended up just holding our kids on our laps. I would very much suggest talking to a private driver and booking them ahead of time for the time you’ll be there if you plan on bringing a car seat - or even if you don’t :). The driver we had while we were there, Wichain, is an incredible guy and would ensure the trip is very safe. You can contact him ahead of time on the WhatsApp app. His number is: +66 85 766 9917. Tell him that Yale and Autumn gave you his number and I’m sure he’ll give you the same incredible experience he gave us.

First thing i’m doing is going to a mall (yes i’m a teen but we’ve lived SOO long in ko phangan like 3 years and it’s 30 min to the over side of the island and it’s really boring)

Hi! I’d like to know if you can make a recommendation for places to eat in BKK, that may serve food, which doesn’t have a speck of Spiciness? Cause my kids don’t like spicy foods. And according to some people, even if you inform them not to add peppery ingredients, they still serve it with chillis. So, I’d like to know which places in Bangkok, (not in the malls) provide food options that are not spicy “at aLL.” Many Thanks!😊

Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! I don't know of any specific places that will 100% be spice free, but in general, if you go to a sit down restaurant you are more likely to get custom orders like that. The reason that most meals will still be spicy even if you ask for no spice isn't because they are rude or don't listen, its because much of the food is prepared in advance and the base of the meal already has spice in it, so even if they don't add more, the deed has been done. In general, stay away from street food, or from places like food courts that prepare things quickly. Also, it would help you to have an English speaker with you to have some of those conversations for you, so you make sure they understand what you are needing. If you are looking for a driver who speaks English, I would highly suggest our friend Wichain. You can send him a message on What's App to 085-766-9917.

Interesting video; Bangkok is a great city. Also great to highlight the things kids would find interesting to do. Well done. However, I cannot believe you got involved in the disgusting trade in wild animals. Paying to hold a slow loris is just the most crass thing that jumps out of the video. Contributing to and supporting this cruel trade is unforgivable.

Hey John, thanks for your comment! Actually, I am a huge animal lover, and I used to work at a Zoo in education and conservation. The entire time we were in Thailand, we were offered to ride elephants at least 30-40 times and always declined because of the living standards of these animals and the harm of the “working conditions” they have to go through for someone to ride them. We did go to an elephant sanctuary though (video coming soon). While there is no way for me to know the living standards of this exact Slow Lorus, often tourist things like this provide a way for small primates to live a good life in their home climate, and be involved in a breeding program without being shipped off somewhere because they’re an exotic animal.

I wish I could say that I said it that way BY accident, but I must confess that saying on accident was less of an accident and more of an issue with accent being that I’m from the Occident. Maybe one day I’ll make the cultural ascent and speak like an ancient to a greater extent.

The Thai “ph” is just pronounced as P - unlike Vietnamese the “ph” is pronounced as F 😊 Example: Phuket is not Fhuket 😂😂😂😂

Well, everything is a bit less boring with crazy kids around, but no, you could really do all of those things without kids and they’d still be great. There are also a few other things that would be fun without kids.
