What a sad life these owls must live. Being poked and prodded for 6 hours a day, feeling anxious about people and other owls (smaller owls are often preyed upon by bigger ones in the wild). I doubt they have enough space in Akihabara to have an enriching environment to spend the rest of their time (like a large aviary for flying), especially as not many of these species can be housed together. So they probably stay in cages out the back the rest of the time. They deserve a better life.

Those owls are shackled to that bar..literally. What could be more dismal than their reality. They would never be hanging out..all lined up like that, and different species too. They are nocturnal and would not be awake in the daytime, and they are forced to live in an “owl cafe”, to be gawked over by humans getting pet..and while they are trying to sleep. They cannot move. They have no choices they can make at all…it’s worse than a zoo..much. They can not fly, they can sit and endure this day after day, being carried to one person or another…awful

    > "I felt the store's love for owls." I highly doubt that Also, owls are night-active creatures. They aren't supposed to be woken up during the day, it stresses them out. I'd rather see them flying freely during the night in a huge cage that's at least as big as a tennis court, with a few tables and chairs in the middle, than a small store where they have to be chained up next to each other. It might seem like they don't mind, but they can't express their emotions in words.

Thank you for your comment☺️ 3,000 yen is about $19 in the US. I don't think the fee is that high.

These owls don't look healthy. Why is it even allowed to keep them in a cafe

I don't like this idea. Would human beings like being touched and bothered constantly; this is cruel. Held captive to entertain humans. I don't see the point. I just wonder if a person would like to be taken to a cafe to be touched constantly by strangers and scolded if they don't go along. I don't think so. After all aren't humans always going on about how they need their personal space.

Poor animals. Chained, living every time under lights and touched by everyone.
