This piece doesn't mention the first family of the house. My grandfather, Joseph Palma, built the house, and he and his children, including my mother, moved into it in 1930. They sold it to the Nortons in the 1950s. My grandfather was Italian American, and we think of him as the original godfather. He worked for Henry Ford, and her serve three terms as Borough President of Staten Island. I have vivid memories of the house, which he sold when I was a child.

My grandparents lived DIRECTLY across the street. Not across the street and 'one house over', etc. but DIRECTLY. The mansion was always in straight, head on view through their front windows. Years later, not too many blocks from 110 Longfellow Road, the real Godfather, Paul Castellano, built his 'White House' on Benedict Road. He used to order pizza from Joe & Pat's. I delivered there a few times, but he always had someone else answer the door. Unlike John Gotti, Big Paul practiced keeping a very low profile. It was from Oven Bake in Port Richmond.
NORTON! Every time I hear that name I think of Jackie Gleason yelling it at Art Carney in "The Honeymooners".
I went couple years ago to that location
His name was Luca Brasi...not Luke Abrasi. He kept saying it that way during the lead-in to his interview.
love that house
❤ I'm love Godfather has house is really and I'm will build up new save history.
What an honor watching this video
im not american but me too love this movie so much!!!
lovethis movie
This is cool I'd love to see that place
Very interesting!
I grew up playing in Vito genovese home, after he went to prison ,he donated to our church, and they turned it into a thrift shop, wnen I was a kid we used to hide in all his hidden staircases, and in the basement all the local houses were connected with tunnels that were left over from the civil war,if the cops ever raided his home he would be down the street in a matter of minutes.pretty cool !!!
THIS IS SO COOL!!!!
i be there 4-6-2016. can't wait.
You standing on my lawn! (lol)

This is very cool
Wow Cool.
It's great that the house went to Frankie Pentangeli
I can imagine it might get a-bit annoying sometimes having such an iconic house, well if it’s anything like the home alone house, they probably get people who take pictures all the time.
Nice story
it was up for sale in 2010--i made an offer they couldnt refuse...
WOW!
I’m sure this question was already asked, but did the Norton Family ever make those home movies public? I think it would be so very fun!

they never did..instead they sold it to another family in auction
That's funny because my Grandmother (Millie Previtera) Joseph Palma and I even remember buying several Fords from his dealership on Castleton Avenue and Rector St. Also remember him as Boro Pres. and even have an old brochure from the late 40's early 50's about S.I. with a forword by your Grandfather. Bob
Wow❤️
People Apparently don’t know anything about television. I guarantee those are not the 8mm tapes. Those are kept in a safety deposit box why would they bring them out to the studio? Those were just tape boxes.

cool story
wow THAT is frking amazing that Coppola or producers allowed his mom to film on 8 mm while the actual Godfather scenes were being filmed in and around that S Island home. Now I gotta find out if her son did ever try and sell those cannisters!

Didn't Ed Norton play in Primal Fear and American History X?
Man that’s cool
Those were an empty 8mm cans actually. He banged them just to hit the first auction prise. It was intentionally.
Wow...what a great story....that cue card...holy shit....that's gotta be worth a butt load of $$$
What was with the news anchor banging the film reels? Was he pissed at the guy or something? I can understand accidentally banging them once but multiple times looks intentional. I would’ve asked that pos to stop that!
Whoa! Thank you KZread
I used to live on Longfellow Road -_-
Those film cans were empty. Forgetabottit..
I want to take some pictures that, in front of the house, is that legal?
ありがとう!thanks(^O^)/fromJAPAN
This piece is from 2010, I'm pretty sure that this property is on the market today, for a cool 2.5 million. So get out your check book!
I remember walking around this house in 1993 when i was like 12 years old and my father told me that they have making a great movie with this house.
The 40th anniversary? My God, That's next year! Imma start saving some money.
The things you never know or think about. It’s still a beautiful home that has “stayed in the family”. Wish this guy would stop banging these priceless film containers around.
What they did was that they just took over a neighborhood and made it into a "compound."
Did he end up releasing the behind the scenes footage his mother filmed? If so can you guys send me the link in your reply to this comment please..
@Frisneraugustin i looked into the past history of the house and it didn't say anything about joseph palma.... but if it dates back to the 30's its not gonna say that... it just shows from the 60's an up
Somebody needed to reason with the anchor.
Isn't it Longfellow Avenue, not road?

The nephew of gambino family boss Paul Castellano was Richard Castellano. He was the actor that portrayed Peter Clemenza.
I think the godfather *made him an offer he can not refuse*
I’m surprised he didn’t take out a reel and started holding it up to the light. Huh I’ve never seen 8 mm by the light
Im gonna have to buy my house back
