Welcome to our Dave Black Live at the Brits Reaction!!! This is our latest video reaction from our new music reaction channel Beer’s & Bars. Here we listen, react, and breakdown bars while enjoying some of our favorite beers. Today's mental journey was amazing as we took the flight to London to watch this amazing performance!! Dave touched on sooo much in regard to Black Culture everything from the start of history to what is currently being dealt with in today's society!! And if these powerful lyrics weren't enough he brings in an extraordinary band to play side by side with the emotion that is felt through this track!! Nothing short of AMAZING however what else could you expect from such an impactful artist like this?? Dave is one of the best that has touched this mic, looking forward to more!!!

Jack Merrit lost his life with Saskia Jones in the london bridge terror attacks. He was heavily involved in black justice and had helped Daves brother, which is where the connection between Jack and Daves family came from

Jack helped people from prison rehabilitate and start a new life etc after prison. He and saskia (the lady in the graphics om piano) was killed by a "rehabilitated" terrorist /ex convict in the London Bridge terror attacks. The uk lost 2 angels that day along with many more lives. The lives these 2 changed you can not count. Rip 🙏 🇬🇧

@@telmack7838 just to add onto what you said for the guys in the video - Jack championed rehabilitating people who had served time but was unfortunately killed by one of them in a terrorist attack. In the song, Dave specifically names the things Jack fought for (rehabilitation over prison time, funding for communities etc) because Dave was concerned that one fucked up terrorist might overshadow Jack’s message and result in policy that does the opposite of what Jack would’ve wanted.

The last verse was a 1 off for this brits performance. He invited Jacks family to be in the audience.
And then there's an extra level of power in Dave's performance in that it was broadcast live on mainstream television, riling up middle england no end

I like your writing style, it's really direct and "visual". Write a book or something ok? (you got them skills Yo)
The other pianist is Fraser T. Smith who worked producing Dave’s first album, well respected, the last verse was added it wasn’t on the original, as people have explained who Jack was his parents were in the audience and didn’t know Dave was going to do that tribute

@@BeersBars It was such a beautiful tribute.. his poor parents were overcome with emotion and gratitude for a verse being added in memory of his courageous actions! Separately you should look up what him & Saskia were doing for prison rehabilitation but most importantly saving lives in the terrorist attack .. which sadly ended their young and promising lives.. :( As you said - Dave is something else!
Lots of good comments here. A couple of things that may get overlooked : The animation on the top of the piano was an immense project. It was an incredibly complex process that involved coreographing the movement between the camera and the computers doing the display to give the 3D effect for the TV camera (but would have looked quite odd for the studio audience). Towards the end he mentioned the Windrush Generation. This refers to a whole generation of immigrants (and their decendants) who were woefully let down by the British government. They were encourageed to migrate to the UK from the Caribbean after World War 2 (one of the first ships to arrive with migrants was called the Windrush), but were later subject to disgusting treatment, asked to justify their citizenship, and to produce documents that the government had failed to provide at the time. Many of the immigrants became vital workers: cleaners, drivers, nurses, and did so in the face of terrigble bigotry and oppression. They redefined what it meant to be British, they revitalised and diversified our culture, and the way they were treated is a absolute disgrace.

WOW Thank you for the background and the explanation of the piano art! 🙏🍻
This was not expected when watching it live as it happened. Dave made waves that day. I had pure goosebumps from the beginning to end and I cried at the end boi
This is what really put Dave on the global map. We loved him already, but this sent him worldwide. I love the reactions to this performance

For sure this was like woah especially in the uk scene
This is hands down the most powerful performance ive ever seen across all music genres. Dave is a generational talent
The guy on the piano with Dave is Fraser T Smith a producer/collaborator with Dave. Jack Merritt (guy Dave pays tribute too) was a course coordinator who worked to rehabilitate prisoners, He was close to Dave and his family because Dave's brother was sent down for Murder. Jack was sadly killed in the London Bridge terror attack by one of the prisoners he was trying to rehabilitate (a convicted terrorist).
Stormzy’s Brit 2018 is also another great example of artists using their voice to call out the UK gov. Both artist are truly gifted
This song is so powerful, so personal, and so painful....for him to be so young, and have this much knowledge...just speechless...no matter how many times I hear it, it strikes me every single time....
I'm just proud that Dave got nearly half of his historical inaccuracies' nearly correct
that mic drop - gets me every damn time
It's absolutely amazing to stumbled upon you guys listening to this for the first time. This song is so powerful! Its beautiful to see everyone sit and listen and just take in everything he is saying!
Dave, Wretch 32, Akala etc are showing that UK rappers are true poet’s who chose rap as their medium. I’m white but I’ve learned much more about black history and struggles from these guys than the the nonsense that the media put out for things like “black history month” And when this was performed the UK Prime Minister was Boris Johnson and he is 100% a racist.

For the sake of catching the bars I would recommend the album/lyrics version
Live on national mainstream T.V aswell, one of the great performances ever!
Dave is more than a rapper, he really cuts through the b*llshit and just speaks knowledge, as far as I'm concerned he's a genius.
Dave has come so far as a person. He wasn't perfect growing up but he has understood his responsibility and the perception that surrounds him. He is doing a wonderful job in using his platform Correctly. He is not just a voice for the black community, he is people's voice. I'm so proud to have grown up in the same neighbourhood has him and stormzy and to see them on the World stage is fantastic. My favourite track by Dave is Starlight. It's not a lyrical masterpiece message just a really good song that I absolutely love. Hopefully I will get to see you react to it.
I love the maturity in your reactions. Solid anslysis and reflection
The song “three rivers” talks about the windrush generation beautifully and it’s truly one of the best in the album. Much love ❤
Highly highly recommend Dave - Blackbox Freestyle, the moment that Dave truly burst onto the scene. Keep in mind he was only 16 when you watch it! Great reaction, first time visiting the channel, subscribed!

Another great reaction! You guys HAVE to react to Akala and Lowkey. Two UK legends that will blow you away with their lyrics and knowledge. Akala - fire in the booth part 1 to 4 Lowkey - Ghosts of Grenfell (Dave referenced Grenfell in Black. Grenfell was a tower block in London which was fitted with flammable cladding so the rich people across the road had something more aesthetically pleasing to look at. At least 72 people died when a fire broke out in the tower. All working class people, mostly 1st/2nd generation immigrants. It has been a few years and many are still yet to be rehomed or supported.) Lowkey - Ahmed/Terrorist?/Obamanation/Fire in the booth part 1&2. Honestly, you will not regret it. They are levels above.

His newest one Songer - Sunrise Session is what I'd recommend but if you want to check out a short video to see if you like him or not, I'd suggest Songer Blackbox S13 Ep. 102
Glad you like this one. Would recommend checking out survivors guilt or in the fire for your next Dave reaction
Jack lost his life in a terror attack, he helped rehabilitate prisoners including Dave's brother
The pianist is a producer for Dave, and helps him slot.
You Guy's just missed Dave's USA tour it was back in May. Great show, Dave performed 13 songs the highlight of the night was when he brought a random person from the crowd on stage to perform Thiago Silva with him. The crowd was amazing singing along to all songs and the mosh pits were crazy.

Guys, do Dave blackbox S6 next, he was only 16 at that time, its crazy!
I always get shivers when he talks about the way the press treats kate vs meghan as in meghan markle and kate the duchess...here in egland most ppl dont like to admit it so to have him say it on national tv was needed
Gotta remember this was on a prime time tv channel live
Guys, I'm sure I'm not the first to say this, check out Akala Fire in the booth part 1. You will not be disappointed
He's keeping it 💯
Loving your Dave reactions. Please so Panick Attack live as well

Okay i love Dave as much as the next guy and im not religious but i dont think you can make that comparison. Dave used to make money scamming banks hence the name, he’s even said before hes “ashamed of how he used to get figures”. Dave is himself and is a great example for all young children but Jesus was meant to be a wholly virtuous being with no blemishes which cant be said about Dave. The most inspiring thing about Dave is how he is honest and owns up to the bad things hes done and how he gives back to the community
All I can say is I’m tearing up ❤🇬🇧
Guys please react to kano - SYM live, it starts of sounding like a light hearted, funny song but once it gets into the verses its an incredibly deep and powerful song and i think youll both appreciate it a lot
Excellent reaction Guys!, Did you notice, the white pianist was dressed all in black and Dave was dressed all in white? Nice touch to demonstrate contrast in line with the subject matter.
Sadly it is definitely like that in London. Just a few months ago, an innocent Black man was killed by a police offer after being pulled over in his car. Rip Chris Kaba 🙏🏾💛

I would agree and say it's worse for black people than white. Maybe my lived experience is different being of Indian heritage, I know racism exists but I don't think I've seen it limit me in my career. I wonder if it's because the stereo type is worse for black than other ethnicities.
@TheChiraagG

@@DhesiWorld Indian heritage here too. My dad and uncle had their cars burnt out in the 70s in racially motivated attacks, and we've seen other racism over the years but of late the Indian community has been doing well and persevered through it all. The sad part is some of the British Indians forget what they went through and treat others horribly as long as they've got their money safe. See: Priti scumbag Patel etc

The other guy on the piano is daves producer
man on the right lokks like method man
Black is powerful
No one has said but it is; what he is speaking about is the truth in England and Wales.
UK police mentality is to judge a person based on appearance first. Naturally; inner city youths have fairly specific fashion trends. So with many (not most) inner city youths turning to crime (I believe this to be a result of poverty and lack of positive opportunity), the police associate any young black man with a nice fit to be carrying something they shouldn't. I mean... shit. Everyone needs to dress like Carlton to survive the police, and like Stormzy to survive the street.
love the reactions you have to check out a few more dave songs -How i met my ex -survivors guilt -Panic attack -question time -my 19th birthday preferably question time first it brings up a lot of political issues calls out trump and america along with the past few uk prime ministers

Also the windrush generation where Caribbean immigrants that where offered British nationality to help build the country back Up after world war 2 but they where massively misled by the government and where largely segregated into black communities and then forgotten about and then 50 years later the government are still trying to deport some of them
The 2 people at the end are Jack Merritt and Saskia Jones. They were killed in the London Bridge terror attack. Jack helped with prison reform and knew Dave’s brother from behind bars (he’s in for murder) and worked on his case. It allegedly hit Dave and his fam hard when Jack died. Jack’s family were in the audience I read and didn’t know he’d give him a shout out.

On 14 June 2017, a high-rise fire broke out in the 24-storey Grenfell Tower block of flats in Latimer West London it was mostly minorities and immigrants that lived in it because the safety code was not up the par using cheap materials they cut corners, some had to jump out of the building and many died many was made homeless and are still homeless. Kensington and Chelsea borough Council and Government was exposed. The Windrush Generation that Dave spoke about was People arriving in the UK between 1948 and 1971 from Caribbean countries have been labelled the Windrush generation. They faced tremendous racism but made significant contributions to England building up the country going to war for Queen and Country and Winston Churchill during the rivers of blood speech by Enoch Powell (research this nuttah) we are the children of those immigrants. As well as West Africans Great Reaction God Bless

not sure anyone else has mentioned it, but in the end verse Dave also mentions 'Grenfell victims still need accommodation' Grenfell was a tower of social housing in the UK for poor people and migrants which burnt down in 2017 due to poor construction, and killed many of the residents, and the conservative government never really apologised, took accountability or really cared about the families of the victims. I think there's also a Stormzy live at the BRITS or BET award performance where he also mentions this in a verse.
He the goat
I've watched a few of your UK reactions this morning and I think you guys should check out 'Ren', he's a long standing artist that is exploding on the reaction scene at the moment.
