What makes VPW2 better over No Mercy to me is having the third fighting style *Shooting,* which adds a splash of MMA into the game. It offers grappling/combo mechanics that were totally stripped out of No Mercy. Like, being able to heavy grapple someone to the ground and pound on them with full control isn't something we would see until the UFC games.

I agree. That gameplay differential does make a difference however I don't give two shits when it comes to Japanese wrestlers. And unfortunately virtual pro wrestling is nothing but Japanese wrestlers even with this mod. So the appeal to the game is very low to me and I have to create tons of WWF superstars that were missing from the game

@@i_used_adblock_to_watch_this There are a bunch of western wrestlers in this FREEM version though, its not just VPW2, its a total overhaul. It has Hogan, Hart, Cactus Jack, Cena, The Big Show, Lesnar, Randy Savage, The Rock, Austin, Guerrero, Flair ect ect. (He goes through some of them in this video) There are at least 1 new arena as well as a new HUD for the stamina bar and whatnot too. The FREEM romhack also works on original hardware, so if you use it on a flashcart or whatever, it will play on your N64.

@@tekton4044 I know that. No need to explain the entire ROM hack to me. Have been playing it since it was released. Just think it would be way more appealing to have all of the American wrestlers in one AKI game and exclude all the Japanese ones

This has like 45+ western wrestlers in it. Also, the guy who made Freem is working on a No Mercy romhack with custom wrestlers/textures/arenas ect. He might even be able to port other fighting styles into No Mercy. He has a discord linked from Jose Nunez below. Freem posts small progress pictures of textures and whatnot there.

Considering the game gets updated, you'd just be wasting your money on something that will end up being outdated. Unless you know how to refladh the cartridge with the updated hack.

Ironic how this game had all licensed wrestlers. But the 1996 Virtual Pro Wrestling PS1 game all had AKI bootlegs of real life wrestlers. Such as Stud Schneider (bootleg of Scott Steiner). Hyper Raiser (bootleg of Power Warrior).

Use muppens n64 emulator and it should just work. No patching. Just down load and load up the rom. The games works on an xbox running retroarch

Hogans hairstyle isn’t in this mod. Certainly a better face could of been chosen too. You can edit that.

Should tell everyone who still plays old professional wrestling games that these modded WWF NO Mercy games are for PC only cause you could not mod console games till the PS3 came out back then if it did not crash your console when nodding.
