Shout out to Panuel for being brutally honest about his “hate” and asking the uncomfortable questions. He’s real.

Drip’s growth story reads like a fairytale. This company is only 2 - 3 years old? No debt, all equity. No investors. Apparently moving around 30K shoes per month. Phenomenal. Congratulations to Lekau!

The impact that these episodes of fellow black entrepreneurs has on us, is so positively intense. Dj Sbu you are really exposing us to worthy content, thank you so much. Just from this episode, I'm sold and can safely say my next pair of speakers is a Drip pair.
This show gave me inspiration today my day was a little tough on me but tomorrow ill be too strong to hustle again 💪

Those many billboards on the M1 is in fact what made me google Drip and I came across this interview. I counted about 8 billboards in a space of about 10kms

I like Penuels questioning, theres nothing wrong with asking about margins and how an entrepreneur reinvests their capital. The details matter.

@@larrysilinda4150 I dont think theres anything worrying. The guy is successful and deserves credit either way. But definitely hes withholding his advantage. No ways you can scale a fashion brand (non essential) during an economic downturn when everyone is locked up and scared to overspend on basics like bread. Especially with our poverty majority. It doesn't make sense with our tiny market to suddenly scale up organically at that level on shoes.

I like the training that you are giving to Owaratwa, she is ten years ahead of her generation
Lekau is such an inspiration man. His story is fascinating and inspiring. I think one of the most important lessons we could take from his story is that success is intentional. You know you will succeed even before you succeed because you know your vision and can visibly see it before anybody else does. Someone could make the mistake of thinking that Lekau was just lucky since his company grew very quickly in such a short space of time but when you listen to his story you can tell that his success is a result of tireless effort and failure, and his drive finally put him trough. Big up to him. We are very inspired.

Honestly, I cannot wait for Drip to go public, I would love to invest in the growth story. Also, I like how DJ Sbu is getting his daughter involved in his business, she is definately learning a lot. Lastly, Penuel is asking the questions everyone wants to know, I am not going to lie, as an accountant, I was already pulling out my calculator after he asked the questions about margins and volume sold lol

Yho bra Bra S'bu and Penual thanks guys for the good show and Big up to morena Lekau for his incredible drip work 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
We obviously don't know much about Drip and oke didn't disclose much. However we know that the retail business is hard. The margins are ridiculously low but you'd swear that's not the case when you look at the rate which Drip is scaling and opening stores... So I understand why Pen is asking these questions. It doesn't make sense at face value. Great interview nonetheless and as long as it's a brother that's winning. That's all that matters...

And add, full lockdown, and global economic downturn when they started. They got half a percent of the entire population to buy their shoes annually, within just 2 years with zero funding... Even Steve Jobs had to get funding to bring Apple to market. It's amazing that was done organically. And our majority population doesnt have disposable income. During lockdown, the last thing people were stressing about was fashion... more like prices of bread. But anyway, that doesn't take away the guy is a powerhouse businessman.
Peneul is still not convinced about this guy... All I can say Drip maximized on the Internet

Big ups to Drip founder. But Peneuls questions were very valid. Starting a company right in the midst of Covid when we all locked up and people scared to spend money. Yet a shoe brand emerges and scales to such heights in only 2 years, with no funding, worst possible economic situation, and our market of majority poverty. Bear in mind that fashion sneakers are not an essential item, so in uncertain times u wouldnt expect huge sales. Anyway regardless, I give Lekau credit no matter how he did it. Even if he got funding, that still takes skills.
