Virology Lectures 2023 #21: Evolution

Ғылым және технология

Viral evolution is the change of a viral population in the face of selection pressures. Viruses produce so many progeny harboring many genome mutations, making evolution faster than in other organisms. In this lecture we consider the four main drivers of viral evolution: large numbers of progeny, mutation, selection, and quasispecies effects. We close with a consideration of where viruses came from and where they are going.

I already took this course several times, and next year I will be here to take it again. This is becoming ridiculous, and all of it is due to that you are doing a way too good work Doc. Thanks!

Love all your videos, even as a layperson. I listen in the background while working on things like stained glass. When do we get to see TWiV 1,000? Still catching up on these last two videos in case it's mentioned there.

Very good Vincent, I'll have to watch it over again. Looks like "diversity" like in estuaries, is the winning card. Northern Highlands should be proud of you. Oh and heterosexual is superior to asexual.
