CONGRATS ILIA, our new world champion and world record holder of the free/long program!!!! This is partial redemption after the injustice in 2022 when you were kept out of the Olympic team in spite of having 2 flawless programs and getting silver. The ultimate redemption from this is when you get the gold medal in 2026. Stay strong, healthy and humble, giving God the glory! Continue to work hard and stay grateful! "Injustice"? Really? Their is some wisdom in holding skaters back - sure worked for him. If he stays injury free, Olympic gold is his.

Been watching figure skating for over 6 decades. This is the best performance I have ever seen. He is so skilled and manages to blend lovely artistry with such great physical intensity. GOAT 😊

His long program was unquestionably the most difficult ever executed, but his artistry is not on the same level. He scored so many points for his technical elements that it makes up for his okay artistry. Look at Jason Brown for great artistry, elegance, exquisite lines and body positions.

His artistry is still lacking immensely. Technically, he's no doubt the best of all time. He's still young, and has improved his artistry so much the past 2 years. I think by 2026, he'll be a complete skater.

When I go ice skating, which I am quite bad at, it is inconceivable to me to jump, spin, and land. I struggle enough just moving forward without face planting. What a phenomenal athlete Illia is. Right now he is the best athlete in the world.

The fact that these journalists don't know who Nathan Chen is shows how Americans don't care about this sport. I think they were meant to talk about the quad axel but mixed up informations lol Anyway, i think the Russians celebrated Ilia's victory more than the Americans, as a figure skating nation and home country of his parents, they know to appreciate him, but i'm sure Ilia prefers it to be more calm around him, just as he's used to. His mom and grandpa already said that he's in his own world doing his thing and doesn't care about the noise in the media

А какое в Узбекистане фигурное катание? Ноль. Результаты были плохие- вот и прилепились к этой республике. Все фигуристы из Грузии, Молдавии и других республик тренируются в Москве. В сборную России им не попасть- , потому что большая конкуренция, а от республик могу выехать на какой- нибудь чемпионат Европы. Всё равно, Илья супер молодец!

Nathan Chen was first who landed 6 quads in his free program during 2018 Olympic. Congratulations to Ilia for a great achievement!

Nope; Nathan landed 5 quads in that program (as well as when he won the Olympics in 2022.) If he doesn't come back to competition, I don't even know who could challenge Iliad any time he skates clean in the long program; he seems pretty untouchable!
