Really enjoy the "explained" version of knots.

Great video! First thing I did after watching the viral video was to try it myself. I got confused because the first time I tried it, I untangled it very easily (I rotated the cross just like you did) and then I had difficulty when trying to do it again. Now I understand it was because the two knots I had were fundamentally different. The first knot I tried, I was careful to make it exactly like the video. But later, I started by going underneath the rod with the extension cord, doing one loop and ending up on the other side. My moment of insight came when I realized that if I had to lift the rod/go around the rod to make the knot, I would need to do something equivalent to undo the knot.

That definitely looks like magic to me LOL. But your short method definitely made it look more realistic. Great explanation.

awesome! I knew there was a trick going on here. my skeptic mind could not find any way possible to get to chord out without lifting the bar.

I just spent an hour trying to get this and it was because it was loop a certain way not how I was expecting the cord to be through it with a straight line cable
