VIRAJPET, The less traveled side of Coorg | Kakkabe | Nalknad Palace | Coorg Tourist Places Holiday
Coorg or Kodagu is known as the "Scottland of India" due to green rolling hills, abundant waterfalls, and grasslands. Virajpet is a less-traveled part of Coorg and preserves most of the hills, jungles, and natural resources in its best form. Visit to historical Nalknad palace, waterfalls, and trek to Tadiandamol Peak is some of the famous activities of Virajpet. In fact, many travel here just to enjoy nature, stargaze and have a relaxed plantation stay.
We stayed at Palace Estate during our visit, a homestay that is right on the edge of a large coffee plantation and has a private waterfall. It is a good place to stay right on Thadiyandamol Trail. The nearest town is Kakkabe.

Kodagu is beautiful, no doubt about it. But there are Leech's if you step out of pathways, especially from June to December

Yes, one has to be prepared for leeches! I did Thadiandamol trek and was ready with generous spray of diluted Dettole solution on my boots and track pants 😂

what is the correct time or month to visit Coorg, and how hot and humid in the monsoon

October to early March is the best time! Even April and early May are good times! During monsoon, it is not hot and humid, but the place could be quite patchy and difficult to explore. Plus the letches are almost everywhere 😄 making it miserable! But enthusiasts do visit during monsoon! On the contrary, just after the monsoon i.e. October, and November, the entire place is lush and green and very beautiful to visit! Hope this helps!
