Doctor here. It is actually VERY common to take out someone’s appendix, even without appendicitis. Not only in this very uncommon scenario, but also in situations like abdominal surgeries (e.g. gallbladder surgery for stones) in which they might as well also take the appendix out to prevent a future appendicitis (as it’s potential usefulness as a vestigial organ is weighed against the possible risk of appendicitis or abdominal scar tissue that will make it hard to access the appendix in that scenario).

At that point you have to remove the appendix no matter what, because you'll have a scar that that location, and future doctors will see that and presume you've had an appendectomy. So you don't want an appendectomy scar without removing the appendix, no matter if it is inflamed or not.

I did the same thing when I was bullied in high school, I would try to verbally reason with the bully while he was beating me up, like I was in court or something. I have a tendency to overthink everything and try to find logical connections, so I just intellectually could not fathom why I was being assaulted for no reason, I should have just fought back obviously, but... that's not how my brain works.

But he didn't have a rough childhood at all. He said himself he's from a privileged household, could be the top 1% of the whole country, and if you know the developing world, there is much more of a gap, so they were probably like royalty, walking around with their noses up, living behind gates and walls and having it all, being connected to the global world, he could go from one private school to another rich wealthy private school, could go to America, to Hollywood. Most Americans can't afford to travel that much. But him moving for these opportunities is the complaint. That is not a rough childhood at all. That is extremely out of touch and wealthy. Sure, as a kid, you might not like to move, also as a kid you adjust pretty fast. There are worse problems than private schools and private universities and going from one privileged neighborhood to the next, and there are worse childhoods.

LOL it's funny to hear about rich people problems. He's from a privileged household, maybe in the top 1% of the Indian population, gets to travel all over the world, attend the best schools, be in America or elsewhere, but moving a lot to do these things and have these privileges is what the complaint is about. Not to diminish it. Everyone has their own issues and all are important when it's that personal. But there are much harder struggles. To name a few: life-changing health problems, having abusive parents, not having enough to eat, not being able to go to university at all because you don't have money, saving for 10-20 years just to get a start because of how you were not handed it by your parents, victims of war, violent crime, etc... But his rich LA Hollywood friends thought of him as Bollywood... well...

@@chandankumar10360 “You had such a fascinating upbringing and childhood and I’ve always had this theory that if someone is challenged when they’re growing up … that can be an impetus for great things, even if it’s unpleasant to go through at the time”. Conan said this. Conan also reacts to Vir Das going to boarding school (a privileged exclusive rich boarding school) with “oh my God” like he just heard something devastating. And Sonia is responding with “oh no” to his story. They're presenting his privileges as horrors. Conan even brought in Churchill to the discussion and how Churchill’s struggles, perhaps much like Vir Das’s is prepping someone to defeat Hitler, someone that tough. Conan said Vir Das is going to be that tough guy because he was forged in the fire of struggle. It’s one thing to talk about some of the downsides of boarding school, or some of the struggles of a rich life, like being different from others or the servants don't understand you enough, along with the benefits, but don’t equate going to boarding school, where you have ironed pressed shirts and meals served to you and private tutors, some of the best formal education, and private nurses that will bring you to free surgeries if you need it, with an all-round rough childhood, and as one of the roughest where you’re going to create such a tough guy as to defeat Hitler. It’s just so over-the-top ridiculous and out of touch. They’re presenting Vir Das’s story as this getting out of the ghetto story, or rags to riches, or such a sympathetic tear-jerker sob story… when it’s not that. It’s a story of starting rich and ending rich, a story of never being in the ghetto, of your parents handing you all sorts of wealth and opportunities from around the globe that you never had to get on your own. This discussion needed a little more perspective or something injected into it. It’s just too over the top and disconnected with reality.
