Viper - 2D Microstructures generation and finite element models in Abaqus

Viper is a tool to generate 2D microstructures made of circular and non-circular fibers. These microstructures can be directly exported to Abaqus with a single click, so an FE model is obtained and can be used to predict mechanical properties of the virtual microstructure.

    Viper is intended to obtain the geometry of the material system (made of fibers or particles) and compute its mechanical behaviour using other numerical software like Abaqus. Elastic properties can be computed on a single simulation using Abaqus in a few seconds. For a faster computation of elastic properties let me refer to the FFT method that can be applied on periodic structures (representative volume elements, RVE). You can find a good starting point about it in th following article: T.W.J. de Geus, J. Vondejc, J. Zeman, R.H.J. Peerlings, and M.G.D. Geers. Finite strain fft-based non-linear solvers made simple.
