Violet & Tucker Play Session - Staffordshire Bull Terriers

Violet goes in for surgery on her knee tomorrow. She has a luxating patella that is keeping her lame most of the time, despite a crate rest and laser therapy. So she got a big dinner and I let her play her heart out with Tucker. After tomorrow there will be no playing for six long weeks :(

I heard you say your pup needs surgery on her knee... If so, you actually shouldn't allow this type of play as it can cause continuous dislocation of her knee with further possible damage. I know it's super difficult and also heart breaking when you have to slow these guys down because they are so playful and enjoy this all the time. I don't want you and your pup to have to endure even more than what is about to come with the surgery and recovery. I've been there and there were too many sleepless nights, it was very painful to see my pup go through so much pain and misery. If you can at all limit her hard play to basic walks, trust me, it will be in her and your best interests. Also, if you don't already have puppy insurance, might want to look into Trupanion. They're amazing! They paid out over $10K for my pup's surgery. I wouldn't have been able to get her back together without them and they continue to pay 90% of all the expenses related to her previous surgery for any treatment to keep her back on her feet. Best wishes to you and your baby, from all the videos, I can tell how well you take care of your babies and how super happy they are. Good luck with the upcoming surgery and wish her a speedy and safe recovery. Whatever you do, avoid seeing her on the table after surgery. I wanted to see my Athena and it was to traumatizing, I totally lost it. Kisses to the puppies 🐶🐶

csuci119 she ended up needing both knees done and once rehab was done her surgeon and rehab vet both blessed her to return to uninhibited normal activity. That was probably 2+ years ago since we were released and thankfully no issues. We have insurance (healthy paws) and they paid 90% of both surgeries after the $100 deductible. Total financial lifesaver.

Nichole Hamilton That's awesome! I'm so happy to hear that. My Athena had to have both knees done too. It was tough to see her go from hours of play every day to nothing more than walks and even that had to be short. She just didn't understand why mommy was punishing her and not letting her play. It broke my heart! Those were the longest months. These surgeons are amazing. I'm so thankful for what they have done for Athena and to have her back 100% is wonderful. You're so wonderful with your babies... If only everyone would cherish these wonderful creatures as we do and treat them well. 🙏
