Hello Mike. When I opened up KZread this morning, I went to my channel (which I don’t ever do) and noticed that my sub count went up to my surprise. I thought it must be because I just posted a rather brilliant video 😂😂. I then went back to my subscription page and watched your video and your generous shout out. Thanks so much for the kind words and support. But your finds in the auction are so tremendous. Great original Stranglers cover. As ever watching your videos Mike I’m a combination of being insanely jealous and delighted for you! What a Clash haul that is! Incredible collection. And the misc lot had so many of my favourite bands and records. The Stranglers Raven special sleeve was one that made me mad jealous. A flawless album for me , but I really NEED that cover! And super interested in that Chameleons soundcheck too. Actually going to see them later this year in Lyon. Can’t wait, one the great post-punk bands, if that sound check is from 85’ that must all the songs Script of the Bridge, one the best albums of the 80’s! Top stuff Mike!

Doyen you are a an absolute gem mate. Thanks so much for the kind words mate. I reckon Jack in France sounds slightly better than covid. You got me to 420 subs 😂 I love hearing that early version of TH. I've got the cd of that album & it's a banger. I also recently just got the Stop Making Sense reissue. That Stranglers is a great cover. I see Phil Matthews gave you an excellent low down on the QLD situation. I'm a Boys Next Door fan too. Years ago at a Nick gig someone yelled out for him to play the Nightwatchman. Nick said "no we can't do it". The punter said why. Nick "because it's shit" 😂 I do love Lust For Life, but the Idiot just has the edge for my money. I have the first two Bauhaus records and they're brilliant imho. I love the Clash so I'm watching! I love the Joe quote about Mick "He never turned up or if he did he would be late and like Elizabeth Taylor in a bad mood" 😂 So I was surprised that Mick was the motivated one to get Combat Rock off the ground. Doyen these were all ripper Clash records outside of the official studio albums some of which I will have to hunt down. Again thanks so much for your shout out. You're a true gent mate. I’m so pleased your feeling better and back in banger form Sir Benster! You really went through it with this strain of the dreaded Covid. I’m loving that Boys Next Door album. I love the early honest rawness and enthusiasm of it. I agree ‘Idiot’ definitely edges it for me as well. Yes that Elizabeth Taylor quote is quite a famous one from Joe. He often had banger one liners. My Clash collection has really grown especially the bootlegs. No problem with shout out, you thoroughly deserve it SBMBE. D🎸

When I see "Big Clash Haul" in the title, I get very envious lol. But I am so happy that someone like you that truly appreciates and understands the Clash made off such a great haul. I'm still quite envious though, such amazing rarities and such! Wow! Nice pick up with the Talking Heads live album too, I've had my eye out for that one. Fortunately, I have a copy of the expanded version of Stop Making Sense coming in the mail on vinyl, so I'm excited about that one. Awesome pick ups with Bauhaus too. Congratulations on being the envy of The Clash fans worldwide! Oh you forgot the left over "Wonderful", so I'll just add it here.

That expanded Stop Making Sense looks as if it is going to be a great re-issue with extra material. Thank you very much for the top notch informative background on the Rat Patrol From Fort Brag album Mike. My Clash buying and seeing them live started in 1979 during their Take the Fifth Tour in Boston. They were incredible. I also saw them in 1980 and five times in 1982. {1982 consisted of both nights in Boston at the Orpheum, the first night/show in Cape Cod at the Coliseum and twice at Shea Stadium with The Who}. The 82 Boston Orpheum show brings back the best memories. They had already played four shows in Cape Cod a month before. But they loved it down there. Cosmo Vinyl invited a friend of mine to go and hang with the band because they had a week off. I could not make it. My two friends went and had a blast. I remember them talking about their boom blasters and a lot of weed. They ended back up in Boston and went to a few clubs. I thought that you might like to hear about some past Clash stories from New England. > Rob/Boston

Wow Rob, in fact double Wow! You saw some incredible shows, what great memories you must have of that period. Shame I'm so far away, I'd love to hear you talk in detail about those gigs. As for the Cosmo link up, that is truly amazing, what a shame you couldn't make it. The Clash certainly loved the US. To be honest I haven't played the Broadway outtakes yet, I've had so much to play recently. I have played Rat Patrol several times and that is so interesting to see that evolution from Rat Patrol to Combat Rock under the guiding hand of Glyn Johns. Thanks Rob, really interesting comments, must get that beer and chat one day! Mike

Some interesting stuff in the misc pile - the only one I have is the live Talking Heads, which I love. And it was like Christmas for a Clash fan to watch the rest of the video!

Unreal haul! Fantastic...gave me the shivers! I bought the U.S. version of 'The Clash' with the free 7'' on import when it came out back in the good old daze. Also clearly remember buying 'Lust For Life' in Woolies when it was released. Have 2 copies of it now...original on the yellow RCA label and a later issue on black and silver RCA. Last weekend my wife got me Bruce's 'No Nukes' double lp with the brilliant big booklet and poster. There's not a single record you showed there I wouldn't own! Keep on rockin',Man...love the channel!

Thanks Brian, I'm really pleased to have won these 3 lots. So much Clash that I had been trying to seek out for a while, especially that Rat Patrol (Mick Jones mix), and those Broadway outtakes. It was incredible when I saw the lot with the Bauhaus because as I said in video, I had albums 1 and 3, and there in the lot were albums 2 and 4! The spooky ocurance was in the middle of my Elton's, my Madman boxset decided not to talk to the rest of Elton's catalogue! 😄 Mike

Hi Rob, yes it’s an interesting one. The Mick Jones mix was a double and more of a like for like follow up to Sandinista, with a bit more dub and jamming tracks. Glyn John’s definitely made it more commercial though. I also need to grow my Chameleons. The spooky incident was in the middle of my Elton’s, next to Madman to be precise 😁 Mike

Holy smokes what a haul Mike! That Talking Heads looks beautiful. Let’s face it, the star of this show is all of these Clash records. I never knew that alternative mix story about Combat Rock. That has to be a gem. These are all great. I saw that live album from Shea at RSD but didn’t have the jack to pull the trigger. I’m thinking Kinked Alive is going to have to book some more gigs to pay for this haul😂 Wonderful group of albums here Mike! Gary

@pc31thevinylpoliceman I am buying a copy of Give Em Enough Rope as we speak ! Along with Tim," the Replacements from Minnesota. I was streaming this Clash album driving around at lunchtime today.. Such a good record ! I have always enjoyed it on Cd, but I will listen more when I get it on vinyl.

Great job on the auction haul Mike. And never knew that Bowie didn't tour after recording the Low album to support Iggy on his album - great stuff! Really appreciate the research you put in to your videos. On the Clash front, have never seen these out take/bootleg series albums before.... may need to go on a search. Got Sandanista a couple of months ago, and it reminded me of how many different musical styles they were capable of...

Thanks John, yes really pleased with this haul! Picked up some that I'd been after for a long time. Apparently Bowie was determined not to upstage Iggy so he stood at the back of stage and played keyboards and as I say he should have been promoting Low at that point. So that shows Bowie's generously to his friends I guess. The Clash and Joe with the Mescarlaros certainly covered lots of genres, probably started on London Calling. Yes, I’m really pleased with that haul Steve. There are a number of bootlegs and records that I have been after for a while, and I nailed several in this haul! I’m in Clash heaven! To be honest I struggle with my only Birthday Party record as it’s a bit too heavy for me. That first record I showed Door, Door, BP’s debut, isn’t heavy, it’s basic but has an adolescent quaintness about it. Thanks Steve. Mike

Hi Mike, I’m really pleased that I managed to win those Clash auction lots. There were a few bootlegs and records in amongst them that I’d been after for a long time. Rat Patrol and Broadway Outtakes I’d been after in particular. Clash heaven!! I forgot how good Raven is as an album. Brilliant tracks on it. I think you’d like Nick Cave’s (Boys next door), debut album. Very basic but it has a real charm about it. I must remember to show the backs of albums, I’ve never been good at that. I tend to get a bit carried away with what I’m saying and forget to turn it round. Mike

Hi Mike! Sorry to hear Ben's still down with covid. That Stranglers album looks terrific. I have a Birthday Party EP called Mutiny I picked up way back when it was released. I have a copy of Lust for Life on compact disc. Nice Bauhaus on the blue vinyl! I thought I had everything by The Chameleons and then you showed that Tripping Dogs album. I can't imagine the price you paid for that. I have another live album they recorded in /86 in Toronto. That one is on compact disc. Lots of The Clash for you and that is a good thing! ✌

Hi Mike, I'm afraid Ben's had a pretty bad strain of Covid. He's on the mend but he's still very tired and fragile. Yes, I got lots of great vinyl in this haul Mike, pleased to finally get the Lenticular 1st press Stranglers Raven, great album. I don't know Mutiny, I haven't heard that one, but I have Junkyard and that's pretty hard core, little bit much for me personally (Ben loves it!), but the one I showed Door, Door is still quite tame in comparison. I didn'y really pay too much for The Chameleons, it was kinda buried in with the Bauhaus and Iggy auction lot. Lots of Clash to listen to now, I'm really pleased with those bootlegs. Mike

I left a light hearted comment on Ben’s update video about two weeks ago..then it dawned on me yesterday he might actually be pretty ill, so thanks for the update! hope to see him back soon! I almost bought the Rock The Casbah 12” single on Saturday, but put it back, whish I had bought it as the b-side version is terrific.

Thanks Ed, yes I’m really pleased with my Clash haul, lots of special ones in there that I have after for a while. I would start with their debut ‘In a Flat Field’. They were very influenced by Bowie and are quite Goth. Lots of Springsteen and Stranglers show you are a man with impeccable taste Ed 😁 Mike

Joh Bjelke-Petersen was a corrupt Premier of Queensland. He set the state of Queensland back many years with his outdated and corrupt ways. Shivers is a fantastic song written by Ben Rankins favourite Roland. S. Howard.

Great stuff Mike I love The Clash, but I don’t play them as often as I used to for some reason. I did listen to The Clash hits back the other week tho. I can remember when my daughter was 3 or 4 and we were out somewhere and she started singing ‘I fought the law and the, law won!’ The timing was even spot on lol So yeah I knew I was listening a lot! Big fan of the Stranglers as well i have that same lenticular cover of ‘The Raven’ I also have ‘Their Satanic Majesties Request’ but I’m trying to think if I’ve got any other lenticular covers as would make a cool video, but not sure I do tbh - have you got any others? Jack at Vinyl Martini is one of my favourite channels and have just subbed Ben’s channel as well cheers mate take care

Yes, if nothing else I’ve raised kids with decent taste in music! Yes good shout I also have that Sgt. Peppers. Other one I thought of was David Bowie’s hours I’m pretty sure my CD is lenticular, but I’ll have to have the vinyl album out tomorrow to check it 😆
