Great video. My paternal grandfather bought one for me back in 60's. I still have it. I found it and it definitely needed some work. This video is helpful. Keep up the good work.

FYI, the 202 was introduced in 1961 and the 404 in 1963, not the late 50s.

I am really new to fishing, but, I love it. I picked up several older reels one of them the zebco 404. I know that this is probably a dumb question to the seasoned. However, I followed your video and cleaned it up you made it easy. Except- I dont know where to lead the line through. There is a small hole on the top serrated plate i thought maybe, or does it go out the side the serrated being the pull sort of...ugh I dont know. Would you mind helping me out :)

The line comes out from under that serrated disc and thru the opening in the cover. It's the valleys around that part that draws the line in as it spins while you are reeling in.

I have an old 404 (beige & green - early ‘70s maybe) which won’t operate properly. I have to keep the thumb button depressed during the entire cast to let line out - instead of the simple press & release. Any idea on what’s wrong would be appreciated!

How can you free up a drag adjustment wheel on a 404 that is stuck? Tried everything!

Mine is not stuck but very stiff. I am going to try a couple of things when I get back to working on it.

At the moment I don't know of any values for them. You could probably check on ebay and see if any have sold on there and see how much they sold for.
