Vintage Wardrobe Tour || 1910 to 1940's Dresses

I have been wanting to do an updated wardrobe tour for AGES. And rest assured, lovelies, the glorious world of 1950's dresses will be coming SOON!
How to date vintage: • How To Date Vintage Ga...
I don't know who might find this interesting, but the dresses in this video cost me a total of $208.59, which broken down - excluding the two that were free - is $20.85 per dress. It is ABSOLUTELY possible to build an affordable wardrobe, it just takes more time and searching! And the occasional willingness to spend more (on a dress lot) but less frequently. Keep searching, friends! The beautiful wardrobes you see are the result of years of searching and planning and sometimes saving up to buy. Nobody with a large vintage wardrobe acquired it overnight or even easily!

Amazing how much more flattering these style dresses are than today's fashion.

The overcrowded or "junky" thrifts are my FAVE to hunt through.

SAME though. My husband was less thrilled with going in than I was. He's the one who made the comment that we might get murdered, LOL. It was down a really bumpy and pot-holed gravel road, had tooons of stuff piled high outside in no particular order of organization, and just... looked decrepit. But the inside was nice and almost organized like an antique store in the home goods side.

My Grandmother wants me to ask you a question. She's been binge watching you since yesterday and says she's just thrilled to find someone so young who is really interested in what life was like in the 1950's. She is wondering since you seem to like all things 1950's if you have ever listened to or liked Elvis? She says he is the only man she ever loved besides my Grandfather, lmao! She's says he became a hit in 1956, the same year she had her first child and he played a huge role in men's fashion and hair during that era because they all wanted to be like Elvis, except my Grandpa who according to her couldn't stand Elvis, but he did take her to Vegas to see him a couple of times, lol.

I do listen to Elvis! What a swoon-worthy man and voice! What's her favorite song? I love this whole comment, she sounds so lovely and your poor grandpa lol. Funny enough, my husband doesn't like Elvis either!

Sadly the estate sales here are often overcrowded and really not great price wise - most of them are run by estate sale companies who price things as though they were an antique store. I wish we had better ones!

Sooo, I know this is an old video (new subber here), but your great-grandmother's dress looks like a special "May Day" dress that young women wore in high school for May Day festivities. My grandmother's mother made her and her sisters these special dresses (always white, and always ankle length) in the early to mid 1930s, so I would research your great grandmother's high school years maybe? That might give you some idea to the time period she made the dress. Just a thought, and I apologize if this has already been addressed. I haven't read the comments section. Lovely video, BTW!

She made it in the late 20s I believe! I learned more about it - she made it after she was married and wore it for many years

Your vintage tour is great!,..I have recently started to really enjoy the vintage look and wanted to know if you have any KZread videos of "what the typical woman in the 1940's had in her clothing wardrobe"? I have been fascinated with the whole "tiny wardrobe of lovely vintage things" and am looking to find what it would have in it. My interest started when I looked up Wartime rationing of clothes.

I read that many movies and TV shows featuring other decades use nothing but authentic vintage dresses, like Mad Men for example. Since you appear to be about the same size and shape as Joan was, I was wondering if Mad Men or any show has ever contacted you to buy some of your dresses? One of the girls who worked on that show said that along with vintage shops they scoured eBay, Esty and even KZread to find purchases. If you haven't yet been contacted but were for some future show would you consider selling dresses to them?
