Vintage Vault Arcade Walkthru and Commentary

Ойындар

This video was shot 2.5 years ago for a documentary. Although the layout and game lineup has changed a little bit, it occurred to me that this video contains some information and stories that will give you some more insight into this "dream" arcade. See the video "Vintage Vault Arcade Tour 2014" to see the current layout and game lineup.

Love this set up of your arcade the best. Nintendo row (with neon sign) and the Williams lineup are done up very well. Excellent work!

What % of your basement space is dedicated to the Arcade? Also, do you know how many dedicated breakers you have installed for gaming purposes? I have about 1500 sq ft in my basement and am thinking of doing something similar...

I have about 1800sq feet in the basement total, with 1 bathroom and 2 bedrooms. The arcade is 44x25 ft for 1100 sq. feet of arcade. That 61% of the basement dedicated to the arcade. I added 5 ~ 20 amp circuit breakers in separate sections around the arcade to power everything. I did not put in an additional circuit breaker box, but I did upgrade my circuit breaker box at the same time as it was 25+ years old.

Do you have a skeeball machine?

I do not have a skeeball machine. It is not for lack of want. The 8 foot dimension of a skeeball plus another 4 feet of standing area would take up too much space in the arcade. I would have to sacrifice 5 machines to get a skeeball in there.

Awesome. You have a great basement. How often does one of your machines need repair? Do you have a local or do you do all your own repairs?

I do my own repairs. Its something you learn over time with each machine, as they are similar and different at the same time. Typically I am repairing a game about every 3 months.

    41 machines but no attract-sounds???

I tend to keep the arcade full of kids and people (see my website at www.thebasementarcade.com for family gatherings and gamedays). This tends to have its own unique sounds of all the people giving them play. Then there is my private time, I go down there, turn on the machines for ambience and work or listen to the jukebox. During those moments I don't want the distraction of attract sounds.
