    Hands down the thing that impressed name the most was the skill shown at 11:54 to saw a perfectly vertical cut with a manual hand saw. Insanely difficult

  • @FilippmitF

    @FilippmitF

    I don't want to seem rude but tbh it's not that difficult. I remember back in school we worked with handtools like that and if you mark with a line where you want to cut it's not so hard to follow - it's harder with an automatic tool because it cuts way faster so you don't have as much time to correct

    The biggest thing here that helped him was the fact that the saw was pull-cut (Japanese style). Pulling keeps your saw blade straight and takes less force, so you can focus on keeping it level.

    There's a tool called a "shake and break" that I bought a few years ago, and I swear to God it has never failed to remove even the most absolutely rusted shut screws and bolts I've ever seen. It's basically a mild air chisel but doesn't hammer forwards, so no dents like the impact screwdriver, and holds screwdriver bits and sockets. It just vibrates the hell out of the screw and dislodges all the rust and lets the penetrating oil get deeper. It is an air tool, but only costs like $20 USD and lots of companies make them. It's a piece of witchcraft that I will never go without again. Completely replaced my hand impact screwdriver. Highly recommend for restoration!
