Thank you Dan great to meet you! The noise on the rear is the auger slip clutch over riding! This unfortunately needs replacing just another outstanding job to do! Of the many that needed doing to get this old girl up and running again! But I’m well pleased we managed to save her from a very uncertain future. And hopefully her future now secured to harvest on !😉👍

Fantastic video. A farm near me, had 2 MF515s. In 1998, I got to drive one. After years of watching them every harvest. Glad I did. Because they where retired after that season. Great experience. But I remember being a total mess by the time I had done 10 acres. Sweat and dust and exhausting.

Happy memories for me. My father worked on a large estate in Suffolk back in the early 70's and they had four 515's with fourteen foot headers. I used to ride on with him. Other Massey farms around here had 500/510's so these were quite rare. After those it was two lots of 625's before it went to three Claas Dom 105's with cabs. Luxury!

Excellent film Dan. It brings back a lot of memories. My Dad drove a 780 Special on a farm in Dumfriesshire, but the etsate next door brought in a contractor who had one of the first 515's in the area. The speed of it was amazing compared to the old 780 I was used to watching.

We bought a MF515 in the late 60s and drove it home { 70 miles} to our farm in Bucks It was a 14 ft cut with a header trailer behind . The multiflow was the worst addition to the combine because if you had to stop moving you had to reverse immediately or the straw leaving the straw walkers would pile up and block the multiflow ,If that happened and you did not notice the straw soon blocked the whole thing up, We eventually chopped it in for an MF525 in the early 70s .a much better machine ,

I remember doing an overhaul on a 1200. The owner decided to get the brakes working again after 20 or so years without them working. The tipping point came when his son tried to change gear going down hill, he got it out of gear and couldn't get it back in. The tractor rolled off at high speed and proceeded to smash into one off his Claas Dominator combines and the tractor fell over. I found that the brake pipe had snapped off just behind the master cylinder. It had been like it so long that the slave cylinders had to go to a specialist to be refurbished as they were stuck solid.

Brings back childhood memories..NO MF's in our area but Claas Matdor standard's. Being able to ride on a Claas Senator- no cab no H&S bring it back.. oh and checking behind the machine to see if it was throwing out too much grain etc.

Nice old girl, used to be 10 a penny around here, sadly almost all gone now, used to love how the multiflow left the straw swath, nice combines to follow with the baler, far better than the ones without the multiflow. a lot were replaced in the 80's by the MF 525 & still one or two 525's running today, the one's that have survived the onslaught of the 40ft cut brigade anyway. Great video Dan 👍

Great video. We had a 415 a year older than that model with alas no ram on the unload auger. Muggins here as a teenager landed the job of jumping on the back and pushing it out with the tip of your toe to get it into position. If you backed up with a blockage the rotor on the re thrash used to wrap itself with straw and set an alarm off. We had a few issues with it nearly having an engine fire on more than one occasion from the chaff settling aroun the engine.

Has it had a lick of paint. It looks very nice and bright. I got a couple of friends that collect this style of Massey combine. I have got a pair of little Allis Chalmers Gleaner model A's. I have been thinking of getting a different make of combine. One of these is definitely an interest to me. I would want one with a quick detach header. The trick is finding a nice one, a lot of rust buckets out there. This one looks great though well done. Keep on being kind to it. I was going to say that sounds like a rattle clutch buzzing away.
