Look at this painting. Classy, subtle, yet sexy, feminine, delicate, welcomin, charming. Modest and still enticing. The 30s esthetics is a classic.
I love imagining my grandparents dancing to this music. They met at a clandestine dance in northern France during the Nazi occupation. Social gatherings were forbidden but that didn't stop the young from finding joy in the midst of a terrifying time. They literally risked their lives for joy. Good for them. I wouldn't exist without their courage.

When I listen to this kind of music, I like to disassociate from this present world and pretend it’s just as lovely as it was when this kind of music was all you heard when you went dancing, hopefully with a beautiful young woman like the ones in the pictures accompanying these videos. Sigh. Oh for a Time Machine!
When I was 16, I had a girlfriend who was 2 or 3 years older than me. She picked me up at night and went to "old style" jazzclubs with me. Even with costumes out of that aera. So that style became "music of my youth" instead of pop songs and charts. =D

I listen to the music of this era all of the time, thank you for your playlists. They are few and far between, but nothing we like better than going to a dance where this type of music is played, dressed in vintage clothes and imagining we have time travelled to a far better place.
I'm 73 and inherited a lot of old 78rpm records from my late father, including many like these. All through my youth I played them and still enjoy listening to music from this era. Many thanks for uploading these - why don't men and women still dress as elegantly as in those days !
@sophiepooks2174

"why don't men and women still dress as elegantly as in those days" Clothes today are more practical but lazy and slovenly, we live in a disposable society where not much is made to last that long anymore. For the life of me I can't understand why many today want to wear such unflattering baggy clothing and tight leggings made mostly out of polyester plastic and cotton in hot climates I would say a lot of the look is influenced by athletes, Hip hop, gangster rap etc. One guesses for a mostly time poor generation who want to show that they don't give a damn especially after Covid 19, many have no time for clothes irons and too lazy to think about what they going to wear and don't care, personally if it is the 'end of times' I would rather go out in style but guess I am a freak. Could be what people from the past would see as lack of style and class is just one generations taste, they worship the ethos of certain corporations over individuality, prefer convenience and attempt to differentiate from the last generation. I know this; anyone who takes pride in their appearance today will likely be stared at, even mocked, bullied seen as; 'attention seeking' or wanting to "be special" every generation has it's ideas good or bad.the live under the illusion we are free when really society dictates what is acceptable in the times we live. I love the music and style of this era pre WW2, the world back then seemed to be more simple/ better/ most people seemed happier/were allowed to be more gentle/more civilized/ genuine/with more freedom in someways but in many ways it wasn't, a lot was great back then depending on where you lived and your station in life, not everything back then was great, somethings today are definitely better while others suck.

I love this era of music and surface level aesthetics. But fashion back then for women was hardly practical. Having to wear heels for any job they managed to get was not only painful but dangerous. I appreciate your admiration for modest fashion and I'm not a fan of today's outfits which seem like one trip and the person bares all to world lol, but comfort should always be prioritised over looks. Women have had to fight for a long time to get many privileges men always had, and taking control of our personal fashion tastes is but one of many things we want to make our own choices on!
