Vintage MOTU Bashasaurus Restoration - Toy Polloi
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Originally going to be called 'Ball Basher' the much better named Bashasaurus is a great vehicle from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. And it's a toy with a feature that meant it often saw a lot of action, and as a result is often broken.
In this video I cover all the main repairs needed and create a new set of stickers to restore this vehicle to it's former glory.

Thanks to Sir Dave, the vintage Motu vehicle Bashasaurus roars to new life.
The beat-down at the end is such a grand finale.
You are a toy genius. My son is so happy!
Not an MOTU collector but love that bashing action at the end, poor old Skeletor. Another great fix. Tim
Aww man, you know they’ve jumped the shark when they bring out the dinosaurs lol
Great job, Skeletor really got wrecked by the Bashasaurus. I had flashbacks from 1987 when Orko got bashed by Evil Lyn at the tree stump of doom.
Your Photoshop work is brilliant! I also like the addition of the trademark Toy Polloi punch hole. Excellent work and fun to watch!

Thank you so much 😀
good morning Dave :) I have the Bashasaurus myself, and the arm on mine, springs back up again, on its own
It cracked me up about how many times you bashed Skeletor! Lol! Nice job with this and all your fixes!
I was just thinking today, if Toy Polloi would find his way to the bashasaurs, and here it is! I have always this vehicle the most!

Great project as usual my friend, happy easter!
poor skeletor at the end hahahaha
Good Job with stikers !!!😎
something I've used to bring back my vintage toys is using Armor All wpies, it gives them a good clean shine and protects
Love the head fix!
Hi Dave - the arm is supposed to go back on its own although, I remeber as a kid, mine also got stuck all the time, specially if the button was pressed very hard. Great video, brought back a lot of memories. 👍🏻

Yeah, mine would sometimes not go back if the wrecking ball was too far out on the arm. Sliding it down often helped, but I suspect that spring might need replacing with something a bit stronger, as well.

Thank you so much for showing how to re attach the head. I had a bashasaurus as a kid. And was able to find a replacement head for it but mine was in the same shape as yours. But everything works. Now I can fix it, and the fix is so simple with zip ties. Bravo.

My pleasure. Sometimes the simple fixes work best.
Watching you fix things I wrecked as a child is so awesome to see!
I think my favorite part of any of your videos is when you do the stickers. Always fun to see the progression. Unless it's an Action Man video. Then I just enjoy the whole thing.
Lovely restauration, Dave. The hardest part is always finding one with a front shield (as the front shields are often damaged or missing). Your replacement stickers are an amazing piece of art in themselves, you've outdone yourself yet again. Thank you for the video. (You know it's going to be good when it contains "hot soapy water" and the according music to accompany the section ♥ )
Hello Dave. I have a Bashasaurus vehicle & all I have to do is fix the pegs that connect the head to the rest of the vehicle. It works fine and when I press down the lever, the bashing action works fine. The bashing arm is supposed to come back on its own tho, but the toy is vintage so it might get a little flimsy with time. Thank you for another excellent Motu restoration video. 🙏🏼 It has helped me greatly. 👍👍
Welcome back, Dave. We missed you but we understand. Peace to you and your family.

This is actually my favorite toy of all time so thank you so very much for this video. The end result is excellent! The toy originally did have enough spring for the Boulder bash feature to return back on its own without having to anything manually (besides the initial button press).
I know it's extra footage to capture but I really love the washing bit with the music and the Patreon list. I remember once you spoke of maybe skipping it but it's important to show that part, people seem to think you can't clean such items Ie. vintage=permanently dirty lol, so better to show that you can. :)
You are a MASTER!
More motu Decals! Very awesome thank you for your work .
Cheers Dave, some great low impact fixes and I didn't even know it was supposed to have stickers!

35:30 🤣👏🏾 poor Skeletor, blow after blow after blow...
Another great video. Really enjoy watching you perform your magic.
I printed off your battle ram stickers. Thank you very much. Never had this one though. You da man!
Dude! Poor Skeletor!
Very impressed with this one. That was great photo shop work in the stickers.
Should come back on its own, I remember giving skeletor a kicking with that button. The spring maybe just needs a slight stretch and perhaps a little grease to reduce the resistance of the plastic.
Beautifully done! This was one of my favourite toys as a kid.
Another Awesome Repair Dave!! I always loved the unique designs on the classic MOTU vehicles. You were able to get this one fixed up quite nicely. I was surprised to see how straightforward the arm mechanism was. I figured it would be overly complicated and fragile in its components like so many things like that tend to be. Love the fix on the head too. Simple yet highly effective. Thanks for the share!🙏
Another brilliant episode! Love your channel

Fangs, and wallop, very amusing ! I got a chuckle out of that! Brilliant work Dave, very nicely done once again, thanks ever so much for that video, Cheers!!!
This vehicle that he man is in reminds me of something from the movie "Idiocracy" The vehicle in the movie that the sports hero Burrito Supreme drives. The movie stars Dax Shepard and Luke Wilson.
Great video. Got one of these for years, it was a fun toy when I was a kid and you could bash up against Grayskull. The head part fell off when it was in storage box, one clip is broken off, hope to fix it soon. Thanks for the tips.
Amazing job as always 👍🏻

Ah man I had this when I was younger! Love it!
Great job
Looks great amazing work that you do restoring these toys .
Great job.
Hey Dave Washing up song🙂 Edit; I enjoyed your little Toy Polloi Easter Egg🙂
Funny that the sticker on the underside tells you how to fix the bashing arm not returning to its original position 😮
excellent fix. the head section is also broken on mine so now I have a way to repair it . :)
Great restoration but such an odd toy, I never really got into He-Man beyond the figures myself.
Great restoration! This channel is an inspiration for all us Fixer Uppers. :)

Great, now you need to do restoration for Skeletor... 35:34
Fair play, those are some mad photoshop skills you have there, Dave. Admittedly, not a toy I ever felt compelled to put on my Christmas list as a kid, but great to see you work your magic on it! (I always half expect to hear Kim Wilde start singing when that music at 17:52 starts!) Happy Easter!
The arm is meant to spring back on it's own I think the spring in the axel barrel you mentioned needs replacing. Might want to look into that.
Great video, like many others I had this toy, bought back so many memories. Keep up the good work.
The sticker on the dashboard which shouldn't be there is from the Spydor He-Man vehicle, I still have my childhood one lol

Looking at the instructions online, you are indeed supposed to put that console sticker facing the driver as you suspect.
Great to see a new video, and this one’s particularly impressive! Lots of cool fixes and creative ideas at play here, and I’m glad you worked out how to get the arm to spring back into place. I actually laughed at how many times you bashed Skeletor at the end, now I’m wondering if we’ll see a video where you have repair Skeletor from all the bashing ;-)
My poor Real Ghostbusters, got busted by the basher 👀
This is wild to me. I've never seen a broken Bashasaurus. Some will be missing the head, but I've never seen other problems.
I had this toy/vehicle (never knew what it was called til now)
Should have painted the ends of the ties white then it really would have fangs !!
I think that the spring needs to overlap the plastic slot at least one round of the spring into the slot of the white peace in order for the spring to be kinda attach to the white peace and the vehicle so the spring is never loose and then it will have the way to create the momentum to bring that arm back
Idk why but every time you wash a toy I always bug out about your sink. 😂 I think its so cool that it's has a built in little tiny basin with a drain. Lol Turned out great and the zip ties were an ingenious fix. 👍👍 I think the reason the plunger was stuck was that the little square tab that guides the plunger got pushed below it and allows the button to spin locking it in place.
@toypolloi
2 жыл бұрын
This sort of sink is typical in the UK. A drainer is very useful.
Excellent video. It’s cool to see how the fascinating yet simple mechanism works. I wonder if adding a plastic washer near the front wheel could keep the wheel from rubbing the arm? Cut the washer, put over the axle and then plastic weld? Unrelated, but ever use denture cleaner to remove mold from toys? I’ve been told it works and tried it. Not sure it’s good though.
Great work! When it comes to springs in old toys, I've always found it better to compress them more rather than stretch them out, a few pieces of Styrene is usually enough. I learned it from Nerf guns, where you'd put 20ps in beneath the spring for a bit more OOMPH!
Spring looks ok, but I guess it's less "springy" due to unapparent wear. I remember when I had this as a kid it would spring back pretty well without me having to push it back manually, especially when I first got it. At the end of the video, it worked quite nicely, of course.
Has Dave ever done a tutorial on how he uses Photoshop to recreate stickers? It's always a fascinating segment in his videos.
@toypolloi

I did one a long time ago and no one watched it. Or people just criticized my techniques. So I've not bothered since. I'll leave Photoshop tutorial videos to other channels for now. Cheers
The spring that pushes the hammer back is not strong enough needs to be longer and stronger
Interesting I just bought one of these at the Goodwill a couple days ago and it was missing the head. But the arm is supposed to go back into the resting position. The one I bought it works really well and your arm goes back really fast.
BA SHA SAURUS, BA SHA SAURUS
Hi Dave! You’ve made a mistake, at the sticker recreation! You can see it at 27:25. On the right sticker, you put a “blister” hole beside the upper red button, and over the middle red button on the left one.
@toypolloi
2 жыл бұрын
Not a mistake. A watermark. Cheers
Goooood job 👍,do you cater for the Popy brand ?
Wow I have not seem you use A Drill . In awhile
Have you tried using white lithium grease for the plastic rails on stuff like this so it doesn't stick?
"Those fangs look gruesome." "Uhhh.... those are **structural** teeth...."
si la massue ne revient pas en arrière automatiquement, c est par ce que le ressort a été trop longtemps comprimé, il faut donc le tiré pour l allongé et après ca la massue reviendra automatiquement en arrière, carlos
I still have my original He-Man and Battle Cat that I had got one Christmas in the 80s my older sister had Skeletor, but it vanished along time ago never to be seen again, to this day I wonder where it went?
My bashasaurus springs back on its own but it also looks like it got very little play .

@@toypolloi another great fix by the end of the video it was working almost like new
If I remember correctly the swinging arm was supposed to reset to its original position after you'd let go of the button. Side note. I had purchased a Toybiz, X-Men Headquarters playset. It didn't come with any of the decals/stickers, & idk how to or have any of the equipment to make new ones myself. Any ideas ?
