Vintage motorcycle engine rebuild! Stop motion and timelapse video.
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This retro motorcycle is a 1974 Honda CL200, and the engine needs an overhaul after I melted a hole in one of the pistons...! This video is the "theatrical cut". I'll also post a video that will be much more in-depth on exactly HOW to rebuild this motor. I'll link to that once I'm finishing editing it.
This video is the THEATRICAL CUT, but if you need all the in-depth details on how to rebuild this engine, I uploaded a 2nd version that you'll want to watch instead: • HOW TO: Rebuild Honda ...

What a shed load of work, very entertaining, appreciate you leaving your mistakes in so we can all learn from them.
Fun video to watch! Glad you're still kicking. I was afraid the Nissan Leaf zapped the life out of you.
Love the video! Time laps was terriffic! Great looking bike! Well done!
That was so well done!
My first bike ,a 71 cl350 almost identical in orange with the black stripe, wish I would have had the ambition to overhaul her when she was wore out and leaking severely. Good memories.
Great video. Have me a little Soup Classic Motoring Vibe
This is awesome!!
Good job lovely bike
Great video! Cool bike!
The tie wrap mystery was solved by me just watching far enough
Amazing 🏍️🇨🇦
Thank you.
Nice work on a very entertaining video. Kinda disappointed you didn't trim the excess off that zip tie you used to retain the timing chain. I expected better from your channel : ) Seriously though, good job man!
Wow!
How long did this take to film ?

It definitely added a few days to the rebuild. I think I took around 1500 photos! Turned the photos into videos using Photoshop. Then did all the editing in iMovie, which also took a long time.
So, what caused the hole in the piston?

I'm not entirely sure but probably either poor ignition timing or a lean mixture, or both. Why would one piston be lean and not the other, IDK. And if it was poor ignition then it would be for both cylinders, yet one failed and not both. Or did one just fail first? And the other was closely behind? IDK. But the exhaust pipe for the cylinder that broke is a little discolored so I think it was running too hot and lean. My guess is there was a vacuum leak.
