VINTAGE FLOWER BOOKS For Junk Journals | My Favorite Books for Making Journals | VINTAGE BOOKS HAUL

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

If you're like me then you love watching people flip through beautiful vintage books! Join me in this video where I share with you my favorite flower books for junk journals.
Hi Friends!
Welcome to my channel! So happy you're joining me this Saturday for a relaxing book haul/flip through video.
I thought I would make a mini series of it - sharing with you guys my absolutely favorite vintage books that I use for making my journals and for journaling in my own book. I have quite a lot of them (been gathering my collection for over two years now) so I decided to split it into three parts.
Today I'm going to show you some of my flower books, next time we will have a peek into my nature books (nature diaries, birds, animals, etc.) and the last episode will cover all the other books that I love to use in my journals.
I hope you will enjoy this and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
Big hugs,
Martyna

Oh my goodness, I have a Marjorie Blamey book. Mine is Flowers of the Countryside. It is beautiful. I paused your video to check my book shelf. I have a few good flower books. I also have The Oxford Book of Garden Flowers. I have been collecting these books for decades. Ok, back to your video. I turned your video back on and you pulled out yet another book. England is a Garden. I think we have a lot in commen.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I hope you get your dream house with a library. I too have quit a collection of books for journaling. If I buy a book that I cannot bear to cut up, if it is affordable I buy one for cutting and one for keeping. For those who cannot bear to cut up a book just remember books eventually dry rot. So cutting it up for a journal gives it new life.

If I could find that readers digest one for Britain I’d be VERY happy!!! And I’m on the hunt. lol I’m a sucker for these beautiful botanical books so we have the same taste there!! I have whole sets from readers digest on gardening and IMO it makes the best ephemera ever! Or adding as book pages in journals. Now. Edith Holden, I have had a hard time finding for under $40 USD

We have so many of the same books!!! The one you showed about 20 minutes in- Deciduous Garden Trees and Shrubs, I had 2 copies of! And I used them. My sister grabbed me this book at a goodwill store and the images are larger, they are glossy I believe in this book. I have to go digging thru to find mine. But I’m pretty sure they are. However I have since been able to purchase this one on eBay, for $5 and free shipping in the US. So I’m not sure what it would cost to ship to you but the images are great and almost identical- just bigger pages. Here is the link for the one I’ve purchased. Just in case you ever want a second for back up. I’m always grabbing what I can if I find a good deal when it comes to certain types of books. Definitely floral books being in the top 3. So maybe this will help as a back up whenever u need it!!! Thank you for sharing. There was a couple I don’t have and I know I won’t find if so they won’t be cheap! And that was the first big one. But I have one similar to it. (I like yours better lol!) and the other one, was Garden Flowers, A Ladybird Book.... ive actually seen them. They are not cheap at all. Ive thought about getting one. But I wouldn’t use it for crafting. So I haven’t made the jump yet but here is the link for the trees and shrubs. And I’ve had the one you show and couldn’t find it again so like I said. My sister grabbed me this one. And I was happy with it! Extremely similar for imagery, and I’m going to look now, I do believe the pages are glossy. I have the readers digest gardening books. They are all large size books thin but on the large size, make great for pages with flips folds and pockets and all of them are glossy. I love it. I like to mix it up. Ive tried it using gel medium but it’s not necessary. It’s supposed to be junk journals! So combing glossy pages and matte! Do work! Quite lovely in my opinion! I even add some vellum in between pages and it breaks up the contrast! But here is the link. Maybe you’ll like it when you are done that book! www.ebay.com/itm/Successful-gardening-a-z-of-deciduous-trees-and-shrubs-Sucessful-Gardening-/143905069006?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292

I just looked up the Illustrated Book of Flora of Britain & Northern Europe. Hard cover starts at $49 and paperback $150! It seems as though our people have driven up the value. I get some books for a dollar or two at library sales but since the lockdowns they haven't had any. So, I conserve the books I have and sometimes will splurge to get the one I want. Thanks for this discussion its very useful. Edit...just because of you! I just ordered Frampton Flora and England is a Garden for...relatively cheap :)

Wow! They are gorgeous. You know, I've always collected garden magazines and my husband always took pictures of flowers for me. Flowers have always been my favorite. I also love fall colors especially when trees are changing. Those are my husband's and I special dates for the past 30 years of our marriage. I loved all your book collections. 🥰💯

A very helpful video and such beautiful books. I went on Amazon and priced the Illustrated Book of Wild Flowers and jumped at the price. Hard bound: $447.00! I went to some other books and sites and found some for $20.00. Ahh...something reasonable for me. I, too, would love to see a video with how you've used these books. Thank you for sharing. It was fun and motivating to buy a book or two!

I'm having computer difficulties across the google platforms, so I'm commenting before I watch incase it won't load again -- No. 1, I love your accent which is a crummy thing to say when you're so talented and share with us -- but I love flipping through flower books, too -- I do not cut up my Edith Holden books because I live in the US and they're so expensive -- I also love the Beatrix Potter illustrations -- anyway, I wanted to say thanks so much for sharing your videos. I do one a year -- ha -- and it's so hard -- I can't get the camera angle right, and I use my phone but then it says the memory is full but I just installed a chip int the back -- ugh -- I appreciate it so very much -- be well, friend -- Patricia

Hello - I have just started watching your Channel. I have the Field Guide to Herbs in this series, and I have found a lot more titles too, and I can write them on here if you would like. I know they have been translated from German, so do you know what I would need to put in the search bar for the Field Guide in Colour to Wild Flowers/ Herbs/ Insescts/ Beetles.? I can use google translate, but I am not sure how accurate this would be. I didn't realise there were so many titles! I have 2 of the Herb Book and I ordered some more in the series, but some (in English) are very expensive so I thought like you buying the Diary of an Edwardian Lady in German, I would try and search Amazon. de for these titles in German. I live in France, so the postage is not too much. Thanks so much for sharing your skills with us all.

Oh my gosh, the first book you showed, I don’t think the seller knew what they had...it must be a rare book, because even a used copy in the US costs from $60 to $700, depending on condition. Though, condition can make a huge difference. Most rare and collectible books are only wanted in very good condition or better.
